I don't know how it was in the manga, but boy that was way too convenient. Much more than any other moment in the show. I'll never accept it or forgive them. Just felt so bad.

Well that's just shonen manga for you. A lot of events or characters get thrown in the story without any foreshadowing as the author just recently made them up. Another example like Soyuz would be Sabo and Yamato from one piece.

Yep! The only two characters in Dr.Stone which can be categorised as bad writing are Soyuz and another will be later revealed (maybe after the next arc)

Both the characters are just popped into the story with great importance without prior context despite having past connections

I mean, they did kinda make fun of it themselves with how suddenly he appeared, no matter what kind of stories, if it's long, it's gonna have sudden appearance cgaracters like this, even stories that have been completely planned out can have that, and maybe he was there, they did kinda show couple of clips like that, if he really was there back before, that somebody would have to rewatch the whole thing, pay attention and check

I can’t remember how it was in the anime, but at least in the manga he was hinted at way back. He was the only villager with no name, and had an appearance that really stood out. So everyone was very curious who he could be, and thought he had to have some importance.

To be honest many of the characters from this show also felt quite shoehorned.

Senku needed someone who could cook properly? not to worry there is a statue of a butler woman who is a great cook happened to be nearby.

Nah, a butler that can do anything.. with cooking.. except for finding Truffles without the help of a random kid.

Makes sense.

Let's be honest. This show really has too many characters and most aren't fleshed out or needed, at all. Quantity over quality.
