Opinions can be false, but it doesn’t reveal that they are “irrational”, which means lacking the ability to reason or that their thinking is absurd.

A person can say, “My opinion is that the Greek city of Athens did not exist.”, but there is evidence that Athens existed, so their opinion is false, but due to lack of knowledge, not do to them being irrational, and once they learn of that knowledge, that person should change their opinion.

And this has nothing to do with people disagreeing with my own personal opinion / perspective. There are plenty of people that have disagreed with me on MAL, explained why, and even changed my mind about an anime, or we have agreed to disagree.

So I take offense at your assumption about me.

You can give a review of the anime, if you don’t other people to respond to you, but the forum is made to provide a space for people to have discussion.

The only thing worse than someone playing the “victim card”, is someone playing the “victim card” for another person, to defend them without having any evidence to support their perspective.

Do you know this person that you can speak for them?

Is that why you are being so defensive for them?

You are already starting with the assumption that I’m wrong and they’re right, you are making excuses for them, and accusing me of being unreasonable and rude.

I haven’t seen you talk to the other person at all nor have you asked them questions, like I suggested.

Is that what you call being fair?

At this point, you have no clue, if they are not doing what I’m accusing them of, nor do you have any evidence that my perspective is wrong.

I am speaking from experience, especially in speaking to multiple people that acted exactly like that person, specifically for this anime, as well as other anime.

I will take what you said into consideration, but I will keep my own counsel on whom I trust.

That's now how opinions work John. You cannot simply affix "I think" to any statement and that makes it an opinion. "I think Shield Hero is a good show" is not a falsifiable claim like "The Greek City of Athens did not exist". "I think" and the presence or lack thereof is not relevant whether or something is an opinion or a factual claim.

I don't have an agenda here, just an opinion, or rather set of opinions, both on what I expect from others, the purposes of forums, the reasonableness of certain assumptions, and the series itself. Why am I so defensive? It is because I think you are wrong and or being irrational in the way you are acting. I am no saint when it comes to online discussions, but I do recognize that making assumptions about other users seemingly in an attempt to discredit or invalidate their opinions or claims is wrong and not conducive to any discussions.

Yes, I agree with you that users should try to put more efforts in their posts, but I also recognize that users like ourselves post primarily for ourselves rather than to the strict benefit of the community. That not everyone is gifted or trained or has interest in higher level criticisms and analysis, but that this alone should not be used to gatekeep participation within these forums.

(Sidenote: Writing about how a show is boring is in my experience exceptionally difficult criticism versus many issues a series may present. How do I write about a show that does nothing? This tends to be the most common complaint I heard by S2 detractors versus S1 detractors; the sequel effect here is that subsequent seasons of an anime tend to score higher because only fans would move onto subsequent seasons. We see this with Kaguya Sama and Attack on Titan.)

You don't need to invalidate my opinion to disagree with me, to suggest I have such a great bias towards a show you like or dislike. Accusing people of being on a bandwagon for disliking a show and not specifying why just does not sit right with me. I don't need to care about the other user to want to point out that you are not acting in a way conducive to discussion.

Maybe it is just me, but I don't see the point in saying "maybe said person has a bias or is just parroting opinions"; not only would this be impossible to prove, but you also angered the other person for not sensible reason. I need no greater excuse to call out irrational thinking then the mere presence of it.



I mean, I am not a very cynical person. I give people the benefit of the doubt, and assume innocence and being stupid over being malicious. As I said before, I think a ton of people are simply bad at wording or rationalizing how they feel in a way that makes sense. Maybe he is being biased or being on a bandwagon, but this is jumping the gun, and not for any conducive reasons of discussion.

I think people overall act in a better manner than we may think they do at first.



I don't know your experiences dude, but while I won't say that there are not any people using multiple alt accounts, I don't think it is nearly as prevalent. I would caution about rethinking this, since it seems a bit too...paranoid? Just my opinion though. I think you made similar assumption towards other users despite however old their profiles are.

I don't want to gaslight you or anything because this could be happening, but at the same time your previous implications of me that I must have known this person for me to call out what I see as "uncouth" behavior or thinking on your part, rather than the natural reaction of anyone wanting to call out bullshit, does sort of...worry me I suppose?

It is interesting that you claim that these Isekai are terrible boring overused, but the companies still make these isekai anime, which means there has to be many people that like these anime, because if they are as awful as you claim, they would have stopped making them, because it would not make them money.

Those same people would also probably not agree with you perspective.

So it could be possible that you are wrong about these anime?

Unless you are claiming these people are just stupid or something?

And if you are going to start talking about quality over quantity, then I’d ask you to present a few anime you think are good and enjoyable Isekai to compare.

Same time: These Shows are awful...to me.


There's no right or wrong, really.
You asked why there are people hating this Anime, tho....and I (still) think the reason is that it's a typical Power-Fantasy Isekai Anime, with a Harem like cast build around the MC, whacky comedy and a semi-ecchi, pandering plot :)

I’m not the original poster, but I also don’t understand the “hate”, so I was interested in the forum.

Understanding your opinion, then I agree to disagree.

What genres / anime do you prefer?

Personally, I have enjoyed isekai the most out of all anime genres, other genres don’t have as many enjoyable anime.
(I don’t share the “insert yourself here” or “escapism” type of mindset)

But it sounds like you are saying that the surface level similarities between the anime, makes them bad?
(Not meant as an insult or to be rude)

Even with those surface levels similarities, each isekai tells a different story, they aren’t just direct copies of each other.

Have you ever tried looking past those surface level similarities to watch the stories underneath?

By the way, I have seen your posts on other forum topics and agreed with your perspectives, I respect you, so that’s why I am curious.

But they clearly are made with that in mind. It's always the weak, not popular, male protagonist getting -> Strong, popular and well liked, by all the girls. Always. It clearly is a Power Fantasy. But well, as you said: Agree to disagree.


It's not really about surface level similarities, either, for me.

There is a forumula to this. Some things really are pretty much the same in every Isekai, every single time. I get it - this is why it's working.
But it's not just on a surface Level. It's what these Shows are and what they want to get across. It really feels more like escapism, rather than someone actually trying to create a cool story, sometimes.


I like the Shonen Genre and Im sure some of the same things that can be said about Isekai would also fit here.

BUT...I always felt like, in Shonen, there's a bit more variety, when it comes to the plot and how conflicts play out.
Same here: I get it - Naruto will always become Hokage, Luffy will always be the pirate King, in the end. For me, tho...there's at least something more to it, other than: MC was weak, girls hated him -> Now, MC is in another world. He becomes the champion. Girls love him now.


Im generalizing, of course. But this is what I think.

I think it’s bc season one set the bar WAYYY too high. Me personally season two was a big flop
