So Kaoru and the Tosa guys were planning on using the fake Shinsengumi in order to sneak in among the real soldiers when the Tokugawa Iemochi finally came through Kyoto by way of distraction, and if that didn't work easily enough, Kaoru was planning on using Sakai for his trump card: a real Shinsengumi member among the fakes who can trick the captains into letting their guard down enough for the assassination to take place. It's very lucky that captured traitor mistook Chizuru for Kaoru and revealed their plans. Otherwise I thought it was a very clever conflict! It's very sad that Sakai was taken down during the raid however, he was a really nice character and addition to the cast. All ended well with a really sweet ending and plenty of fanservice shots for the loyal fans haha.    I think I enjoyed the Saito scenes the most this episode!    BTW Chizuru's outfit this episode was lovely!  |

| Not the best story Hakuoki has told, but I still really enjoyed it. It's honestly surreal to see a new Hakuoki anime in 2022 in general. I do wish we got to see Sakai more though, he was really only in the beginning and then the fight at the end. |

And the short festival scene made it all worth it. Wish we got more Okita though T.T |

| So this anime has taught me that forcing people to become monsters is all fine and dandy as long as you say you are the side of justice and do goofy hero poses before battle. Also why is this treated as no big deal? Like "oh yeah, I just forced a bunch of my followers to become blood thirsty monsters, so what, guess we have to kill them now." I didn't hate the anime and am intrigued enough to watch the original series but the whole forcing people to become vampire type creatures in the name of "justice" or what ever just seems wrong/stupid to me. |

| Like with the other episodes, there were some moments I liked but overall didn't love it. But that's okay, just having some new moments with the characters was kind of nice. |
