it's been a long time since i watched the show but recently i've just finished listening to the whole soundtrack album AGAIN and my god isn't it some of the best soundtracks i've ever heard

when i watched the show for the first time, i only noticed some of the soundtracks like "D.V.M.N." and "Crybaby" but after listening to the whole album again i realized i missed a lot of great tracks like "Buddy, Ryo",  "Judgement", "Smells Blood" and a couple of underrated tracks as well like "Miki the Witch", "Cheesy Drop", "Prayer" etc

Kensuke Ushio is INSANE!!!

i honestly wanna say that it's probably my favorite soundtrack album of all time
every track from this album is amazing and it definitely is the reason why the show is so good to some people

Kensuke Ushio...he really shows the power of music and the impact it can give to a show!!

Given his ever-expanding catalogue of incredible anime soundtracks, I’m comfortable calling him the GOAT.

His Devilman Crybaby, Heike Monogatari, Chainsaw Man, Koe no Katachi, and Tengoku Daimakyou soundtracks are some of the all time best.

Joe Hisaishi and Yoko Kanno might have something to say about him being the GOAT, but he’s definitely my #1 at the moment.

I would say it's one of the best soundtracks, but not THE best. Made in Abyss and Studio Ghibli movies have the best soundtracks, especially Made in Abyss.

Question... Have you listened to Banana Fish's soundtrack?

Omg, finally some people who gush about this soundtrack as much as I do!

The show itself was cool and all, but the soundtrack was what really stuck with me, even after all this time. I regularly listen to it and Kensuke Ushio is a mastermind genius for composing this.
I also especially appreciate you highlighting some of my faves, 'Miki the Witch' (which by the way, can we just acknowledge how amazing that switch is from 'Miki' to the witch version?!) and 'Buddy, Ryo' just randomly pop up in my head sometimes and then I get the intense urge to listen to the whole album again lol.

As someone else in the thread has already mentioned, the OST for Made in Abyss is also exceptionally awesome, my personal favorite being the soundtrack from season 2. And no, I can't pick a favorite piece, the whole album is something to be enjoyed as a whole and an experience in itself. Kevin Penkin also is a genius in crafting a soundtrack that sticks with you and grips your emotions. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't already.

Finally, dear soundtrack-appreciation-friend, I'll leave you with a few of my other personal favorites:
- 'Day and Night' from Shiki
- 'Eau de vie' from Shiki
- 'Grey Waltz' from Fire Force
- 'Valkyrie' from Record of Ragnarok
- as well as any character theme from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

...and many many more (gosh I love a good soundtrack)

The soundtrack is definitely a highlight of the show. While the show overall is very good, if not for the soundtrack, it probably wouldn't have been as much of an amazing experience as it was with it.

i agree that Ghibli movies' soundtracks being some of the greatest too (Joe Hisaishi is GOATed), Princess Mononoke is my personal favorite one

after discovering this thread I had to listen to the album again, ugh, it is just soooo goood!

thank you so much for your recommendations too, I'll definitely check them out!
Nausicäa is definitely a classic, Joe Hisaishi also never misses *chef's kiss*

AND BEFORE I FORGET AGAIN:
technically another 'soundtrack' I can recommend is Daft Punk's album 'Discovery', which has an anime visual, so it counts I guess? XD
The anime is called 'Interstella5555: The 5tory of The 5ecret 5tar 5ystem' (gosh, that was a nightmare to type out lol) and you can basically watch the whole thing on Youtube, which takes about an hour. Consider it a silent movie in which the story is told/conveyed through Daft Punk's tunes. Definitely a classic and all time favorite in my books!
Special highlights: 'Digital Love', 'Crescendolls' and 'Veridis Quo', although I guess the more mainstream best known tracks would be 'One More Time' and 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger'.

Yeh another great anime with a banging soundtrack. I don't know why anime soundtracks aren't talked about much (from what I've seen).

There is no such thing as a good anime without a good soundtrack. A good soundtrack is what makes the anime awesome! Berserk, Monster, Psycho Pass, Ping Pong etc are all great because of their soundtracks.

Honestly whenever I talk about anime composers he barely gets mentioned despite his insane discography under his belt. His portfolio is insane ranging for works like a silent voice, ping pong, csm, Devilman, Japan sinks etc..
Though my favourite work of his is Ping Pong.

just wanna feel wanted by someone other than the police 😫
