I expected them to get together. However, based on the episode's title I did expect a more public display of affection before the episode ended. Like a scene of them holding hands and walking into the classroom or something like that.

This was the predicted ending since before the anime even started.
It just made too much sense to end with volume 4.

I loved that they just hugged. It got their characters and I liked that they didn’t just kiss for the sake of kissing.

But they just did 12 chapters and had to rush two volumes to reach that part, the story goes on for another 4 volumes after the anime ends and the anime skipped a few important things to reach that part

The ending was so expected, as well as the reason why Amane had been trying to keep distance from Mahiru despite the obvious love signal from her since several eps ago, yet impatient and immature watchers were like "jUST KIss aLreADy!" , they forgot Amane isn't their typical bold boys these days :D

Perhaps you've seen too many romance anime from the mid 2000's where they touch hands at the end of season 1 and kiss at like season 3 but today's romance anime are way more intense than they used to be. Just look at Horimiya lmfao, they started dating, had sex and basically proposed for marriage all within 1 season.

My kids had some nice interactions through the story, but yeah it was kinda rushed. I consider the plot as a ladder of self esteem and self honesty. It ended when Amane finally decided to act out of his shell, reaching Mahiru's feelings.

What do you mean unexpected? The whole anime is very simple and predictable by design. It's even simpler than the other cringe romcom's.
Every single episode was almost always in the MC's house making dinner, the girl saying "dummy" and flirting. What part of this was unexpected when the girl was technically living in MC's house as a housewife?

Everyone flamming the ending being too predictable, bro, I'd rather have a good ending like this rather than a cliffhanger.

Feel like they skipped too many chapters? If you're satisfied then nothing else matters.

The ending was probably the best part of the show for me. I thought it was fresh compared to other romances. Still couldn't save the anime, but I appreciated the ending.
