The LN has the Girls Love tag on BOOKWALKER but on MAL the LN, manga or anime does not have it. Can any mods correct it.

Maybe because Bookwalker's opinion has little relevance and it's just an opinion of whoever set the tag there. From what we know this is not a yuri LN.

Only on MAL. A lot of yuri news and merch websites have this series on their list. Also, how can an official translation website be wrong about a tag which is visible to the public? I have seen all LN readers agree to that tag and have no complaints too.

Bookwalker is the only one who has this tag for some reason, so they should change it.
Every other manga streaming service I've check does not label it as yuri.
Even author himself does not advertise it as such, which is the direct reason why MAL doesn't put it. There might be some sort of yuri bait, but full fledged romance is inexistent, because two main girl have servant and master relationship.
Overall, Giris Love tag is reserved for shows, where romance between girls is it's central focus or at least major theme.

Well, shows with minor romance/hints of romance have girls love tags on MAL and anime with major themes of girls love missing it. This is not the first time MAL have messed up on the Girls love tag when The Executioner and Her Way of Life first aired the anime, LN and Manga did not get the girls love tag, and 5 months after it aired they finally corrected that error but when it was too late. That series also had a Girls Love tag on Bookwalker. I don't care that much about tags but after what happened to the anime of Executioner because of MAL's fault was really bad to see. Just saying they should at the very least mention the tags the official reading site gave it.
Also, even tho they should not count, illegal sites like MangaDex also have the Girls Love tag for the Manga version.

As I said, tags are associated depending on what demographic is being addressed to.
If LN/anime is not being officially advertised as yuri, then it won't receive a tag.
Even Rupture Asuka does not have such tag, despite almost every girl in it being raging, thirsty lesbian.
On the other hand, Otherside Picnic has Girls Love tag, despite nothing yuri happening within the anime, because LN itself is yuri and the part when it goes full gay wasn't adapted and happens later on in the LN.
In the end, it is all to mods whim just like it was in Executioner's case. It's yuri vibes were quite different between LN and anime.

Since we discussed this MAL removed Otherside Picnic and The Executioner and Her Way of Life both from the GL tag despite them being obviously yuri with even then being advertised as one and some being confirmed by thier author as being one.(This happened to all the versions anime, LN and Manga). This just shows that MAL tags are highly inaccurate and have way more personal bais than actually factually accurate tags. Same with this series went ahead and read a few chapters of this and

You should already know that MAL tags are unreliable. On Anilist it has tags for "Yuri" and "LGBTQ+ Themes".
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

I'm not sure if this series counts for yuri since its played up mainly for jokes.

Well, the official release gave it those tags so it is better for MAL to just copy that info instead of making their own decision. this is not the only series they have done this with. Otherside Picinc a famous yuri Novel, manga, and a rather weak anime adaptation don't have the Girls Love Tag despite there being official interviews with the author saying it is Yuri and the official release saying the same too.

It's because MAL defines the "Girls Love" tag with an emphasis on the relationship being "the focus". MAL mods, of course, unilaterally get to decide which relationships count as being "the focus", and which don't.

So it doesn't matter that in the case of Hikikomari, the official anime stream on BiliBili, the official English release on Yen Press, and Bookwalker tagged it. Or that one of the VAs described it as Yuri in an interview on the official site. The wise scholars of MAL decided that it's not "the focus", and that's that.

What's even crazier is that MAL now has a separate tag for "Romance" and "Romantic Subtext"... but for heteros only. There's no "Gay Subtext" or "Lesbian Subtext" tags. So Yuri and BL needs the homosexuality to be "the focus" to warrant a tag, regardless of official designation, but hetero business can get a tag even if it's not in the focus. They completely ignore the fact that Yuri (and BL), unlike hetero subplots, is *not* a near-ubiquitous element in fiction, so it can attract an audience by itself even when the relationship is technically a subplot, as long as it's the main relationship.

Note that there is a "Showbiz" tag for 36 and "Medical" for 43 anime titles. So clearly, it's not that they *can't* just add two more tags...

@LeeTailor informative comment for a frustrating situation thanks for writing! as a lesbian who was constantly looking for gl content, but not mandatorily romance-focused, a subtext tag would've be great to browse through.,, ive done my fair share of searching "anime with female mc and no het romance" type terms lmao

@orb4eva To be probably more fair to MAL than they deserve, they did at least add the interest stack feature last year, which allows users to make custom lists. Many people have made interest stacks for Yuri and related titles; here's a few popular ones, in case you haven't seen them:

The essential Yuri/GL anime list
Hidden gems for yuri lovers
female-led and yuri action/thrillers

You can also search interest stacks here

@LeeTailor unfortunately too deep now that neither these interest stacks or a subtext tag would really help me anymore 😆 wouldve been helpful at the beginning of my journey but im currently at a point where ive seen or heard about most of the media id be interested in and am only looking for new releases ! in a lowkey pathetic way haha, thank you for linking those lists though!

(nice ryo pfp btw, loved btr so much being an anxious guitarist who desperately wants to join a girl band myself)

After finishing the anime, I still don't think this needs the GL tag as there's barely any actual love in it. Just my 2 cents

Show definitely falls in a gray area, because while there is no explicit romance, the season ends on a harem joke, and some of the blood transfers (Sakuna and Villhaze on the beach, Nelia licking Komari's face) are blatantly sensual
