IDK why this is a thing when the romance part is only side cheddar to the entire family-homey like feeling.

This is the reason why it's useless to tell people of ships and whatnot when it isn't the focus, it just doesn't add up.

Manga is still ongoing and this series is more into wholesome Slice of Life than romantic Romcom.

Maybe in future chapters, we'll see the winner sooner or later.

Haven't read the entirety of the manga but did go through some chapters. In chapter 61, Kanoko said she still and will always love him. Well didn't said it out loud to his face but kinda indirectly said it to him. And I think Nagumo caught it too. So yeah, they still haven't cleared things up but I'd assume they will. Or at least I hope cause I'd love that.

that’s not the ending. manga is still ongoing. no way that happens. absolutely no way. nagomu will either end up with highschool girl or kanoko. the anime really made it clear it will be one of them.

When is not the focus? Friend, it's not just because the romance genre isn't present that it's not a focus and in addition, the romance within the work was mentioned more than once. Maybe you should watch more dense anime than the superficial ones, of all your opinions and "reviews" you just narrate what happened in the episode and that said you are the least suitable person to talk about what should or should not be commented on.

Should end with kanoko. The other girl is a freaking high school student and even if she passes that it would still be very creepy. Also people should remember that our boy is already above 30. I don't know why they had to make a love rival a high school girl? One of the most annoying trope of the shounen.
