It's a little annoying that they made a two part episode with a week break in the middle, especially since two weeks ago they aired two episodes, the first of which of episodic nature and the second of which was the first part of this two-parter. They could have just done one episode last time and the two-parter episode this week. Oh well.

Considering the extra week they theoretically had to animate this episode, it was pretty underwhelming. The animation and movement all throughout the episode looked ugly and poorly directed. Hopefully future episodes are directed better.

I wasn't a fan of the romance between the two side detectives, and even the whole Zenigata getting arrested didn't really lead to as much drama as it should have. It was resolved quickly and without any crazy antics.

Pretty much the main part of this episode was showing that the female detective was also a student of Tomoe and that Mattea also has something to do with Tomoe and this whole situation by reacting to Tomoe's name and attacking Ari, neither of which are really that shocking, as they were both suspicious from the beginning. Though in the case of Mattea, it did look like there was something off with her, so perhaps it's more complicated than what we may assume that she was "evil" from the very start. Perhaps it's mind control or someone else in disguise. We do get a bit more on the personality of Tomoe, so that was nice.

As usual, the soundtrack of the episode did much of the heavy lifting. I can't praise it enough.

Next week looks to be like a Fujiko episode unrelated to the main storyline, so that should be fun.

I liked the idea of the long tired "Clarisse" archetype (young woman who Lupin helps out) being twisted to have that character turn out to be a villain. Made a change from the cliche of "Zenigata's partner is a villain". Which itself was played on with Ari's link to Tomoe.

Seeing their character designs in scenes close together, I am starting to see what the people who have suggested that Yata might be Tomoe's child are seeing. But that might just be a case of generic TMS face.

Outside of a few scenes here and there that's been the story of this part. It's a bummer given how parts 4 and 5 were so pretty and stylish.

Not a lot of action in this episode so it's not as if there was much opportunity to animate something impressive, but what was animated didn't have to look so bland.

Story-wise, I enjoyed it... It wasn't brilliant, but I was invested in what was happening. I've seen worse this season. The isekai episodes come to mind.

A lot of twist and turns in this two part episode. So Mattea was the killer who setup Zenigata to be thrown in jail. It's to bad that Ari figured it out before Mattea attacker her, hopefully she survives.

We got another Fujiko related episode next week.

The Mattea link seemed pretty obvious as she has been pretty fishy for a long time. But overall, this two parter was pretty underwhelming. Also, was it really necessary to make Yata look weak? It's not like anyone watching is going to care about him or take him serious because he had a cool fight scene.

I call this season the curse of Holmes. There is a solid story in this season somewhere. It just keeps getting dragged down by subpar episodes. Hopefully the Tomoe conclusion will stick the landing.

Damn Mattea, I guess that was to expect, but the last scene was tense, I hope that Ari didn't really die

I was suspicious of her the moment she just "happened" to be in this new country at the same time as Lupin, but boy was it still a shock to see her switch from side character to crazy murderer

Seeing Lupin bonding with these different women without it being romantic is a nice change of pace, & the overarching mystery is really cool.
