The talent agency Haikyo announced that Motomu Kiyokawa, best known for his role as Kouzou Fuyutsuki in the Neon Genesis Evangelion series, died on August 17 due to pneumonia. He was 87 years old. The funeral was held privately by close relatives.

Motomu was born in the Kanagawa Prefecture in 1935. He began his acting career in Haiyuza Theatre Company in 1957 while working as a voice actor.

Some of his notable roles include Kouzou Fuyutsuki in Neon Genesis Evangelion, Tippy in Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? (Is the Order a Rabbit?), Walter C. Dornez in Hellsing, and Norman Burg in The Big O. Outside of television animation, he also worked on special effects works such as Ultraman Mebius and participated in the dubbing of various foreign films.

May he rest in peace and condolences to his family, sad to lose a veteran like this. Really liked him as Walter in Hellsing (funny enough he was often casted to play butlers).
