This sounds like a weird question but do you think this anime will boost the popularity of the games?

Certainly, but that's only if the anime manages to succeed.

It would be great if they were serious about this project not only on promotion focus, since this cover the north ambria where we only get little knowledge on what's happening there.

Well.... it depends.

The thing is with Trails that no matter how good (or bad) this series is going to be, it's really difficult to get into this franchise. Maybe some people might give a chance to the Cold Steel arc, but once they realise that there are +5 games that they need to play through just to fully enjoy the Erebonia Arc ....people just will not bother. There is a reason why One Piece and other neverending animes have issues attracting new watchers. And it's a shame cause Trails are one of the best and well-crafted stories in JRPG history.

Best way would be just to recommend Kuro no Kiseki when it comes out, since it's the start of the East Side and it's a new arc that'll probably come out the year after this anime airs

Starting with Kuro has a similar issue of starting with Cold Steel 1 (or 3) or Zero. That you totally can, but to enjoy 100% the game and to get all the references you need to play everything before it, and if you beat the game and you indeed enjoy the story/world/characters you will need to play the previous games. And then you need to revisit the one you started with anyway because now that you played the previous ones you will be able to get all nice little callbacks to previous titles and events.

Also watching this before even starting any of the games is just kinda no, since you will hit so many spoilers and basically CS 1 and 2 are kinda ruined for you. Valimar, the resolution of the civil war and who know what else is spoiled...

They put multiple recaps for characters in the PC or PS5 version of the game, also some youtubers are doing detailed recaps of Trails games right now which will all be caught up by the time Kuro is done

I think Kuro at least has the thing that it's the start of the East stuff of the world(Cold Steel 1 was still in the West side of the story and took place concurrently with the Crossbell games)

Well, recaps are only good for you to generally know the main plot points regarding the previous games, but the franchise LOVES call-backs and referencing itself. Like if you meet a character that was in previous games 10-20% of their dialogue is about their previous involvement in their previous games or relationships they built before. You just cannot get that from just reading the recaps.
Also true, YouTubers upload tons of gameplay and walkthroughs, but that's still X hundred hours of time of your life, also it's not guaranteed that it's a 100% playthrough. They might miss some good and fun optional characters/storylines that you will only know if you talk to every NPC (for example Anton)
All I say is that one totally can start with CS1, Kuro, or any future "starting points" that will come after Kuro, but that's the downside of starting with a later instalment.

Too bad like anybody who actually played with the games just doesn't agree with you. It's not like Rean stomped literally every poll ever made.

I dont think so since the anime will most likely throw you in without any context. People who played the games might have some fun with it.

I only played Cold Steel 1 and now into the second game without playing any of Trails in the Sky or the Crossbell games, so it's hard to judge. Jrpgs are a hit or miss in the west I think. Some are pretty popular but in where I live in Europe, none of my friends heard of any of the Legend of Heroes games. Besides that, Cold Steel games are the only games that seem to take notice by some anime game fans, as from what I read, the previous games were not even translated until tons of years later and the Crossbell games are yet to be released in the west even though they are already in Japan over a decade ago. Due to the out of sequence of release in the west, it's too messy and I really felt it when playing Cold Steel 1. It felt like watching any of the Avengers movies in the MCU without watching any of the previous movies that build up to them. You were expected to know certain characters and events off by heart.
Anyway, usually anime of game adaptations tend to cut corners or summarise things. This seem to take place maybe after CS 3 or 4 I'm not sure. So I'm pretty certain that if anyone walk in to watch this without playing any CS games, they would be lost. So the answer is...it really depends.

There are a hundred anime releasing every season. Outside of sequels, the anime community only latches on to one or two original shows. Unless this show has an explosive first episode that can suck people in and has lots of deaths, it will have no hope of gaining any significant amount of attention. We will be extremely lucky if even a middling anituber like Chibi checks it out and posts a review of the first episode.

Even if people like the show and become interested in the broader setting, it's hard to say how well people will get into the door. If the show represents the true nature of the Trails franchise - being a lot of hype but having disappointing payoffs and being very averse to consequences - then not many people will get into the series. Likewise if the anime's creators are given the freedom to have a high stakes story with lots of death, then sure people might check out the series but they will be disappointed once they realize they've been duped.

The show could try to rope people into the series by showing off the aesthetic appeal of the franchise, ie the fantastical side of the series like the orbments, the airships with their unique fins, the mecha designs, etc, but that also depends on the show actually looking good, which it probably won't.
