You’re definitely not the only. But for me, this anime would be in my top 10 if not for the ending.

Once the world leaders fused into a giant alien energy monster, the show went severely downhill for me. And I’ve seen people explain the poetry and symbolism behind ending, but they could’ve easily portrayed the same poetry and symbolism without doing… whatever it is that they did. Because honestly, I felt as though the last few episodes were incredibly rushed and almost like an entirely different show.

I’m glad there were people who were able to enjoy it, but personally, I’m hoping for them to eventually make an alternate ending. Although it’s very unlikely. In fact, probably a 95% chance that doesn’t happen.

I agree I remember watching the show and when I was on episode 18 I'm like ok I'm preparing for the fall off .... still waiting.... still waiting .... and nothing. It was great from start to finish.

Being very honest it’s not that the ending was bad or disappointing but instead in my
Opinion i found it some what forced by introducing a new villain at the very end so suddenly with us knowing practically no information about it. And well it was also kinda pretty sad :/// but despite that still an amazing and definitely one of my favourite animes.

I think the ending was pretty decent I just wished there was a more well-rounded and happy ending like for example the defeat vire(or whatever) and return to earth etc.
The Zero Two robot was a bit far in my opinion tho…

When they’re reincarnated and reunite under the tree is exactly what I wanted in the ending. But, as a whole, the ending seemed rushed and the 02 mech spaceship was cringe.

Man it feels like everything past episode 15 was a complete shit show. After they escaped the utopian place, it just felt like the story completely, characters, and everything else fell apart. The ending was okay I guess? but the main issue is everything leading up to the ending imo rather than the ending itself. People love to pretend the ending is actually the entire cake rather than just the cherry on top.

I didn’t even understand what was happening in the entire space arc nor did I genuinely even want to. Like I said in another comment it just felt like everything after they escaped the utopian palace felt like a shit show like if the show ended there instead of continuing this would be one of the best shows ever easily.

I wouldn’t have minded the ending, but her turning into a giant mech was too much for me. I just thought it was really dumb. The whole show kinda fell off the last 8 or so episodes all of the mysteries and payoffs were disappointing.

I actually feel the ending was great I liked how they killed both main characters but left something behind for the others to remember I mean it did seem a little weird to have 02 turn into the robot but she wasn’t human and this was based in the future so it would seem to be weird but I also really enjoyed that they showed us what happened to all the side characters that was really nice

I didn’t like it at first but after a while of moping i just settled with the idea that they got reincarnated both as humans to be together(which they wanted to be human). And Virm ends up not coming back. Not in their lifetime at least

I agree. not every ending has to be everyone alive and happy though it is nice and feel-good. if i were to pick one thing, the robot was def weird. and she was in that form for so long too so it's pretty hard to overlook.

Edit: The ending is not disastrous but I wouldn't consider it as great. It just feats the anime.

It had me crying for like 2 hours tho. 002 and hiro leaving and never coming back was the saddest part. The fact that everyone waited and never got to see them again, as well as them both ending up sacrificing themselfs for everyone.

the very end isn’t bad at all. the last episode is actually a pretty satisfying ending. the bad part is the like 7 episode stretch of horribly written reveals that destroy all sense of a cohesive story leading up to the ending after what i would consider an otherwise pretty good show for the first 2/3.

I really enjoyed most of it but the last few episodes just felt rushed and dare I say it, cringeworthy at certain moments. They could have spent more time on the final quarter and made that a season of its own then it could have worked. It was as if they got to episode 20 and thought ”oh shit, we’ve got to fit all this in and we can’t be bothered doing a season 2”

I kept hearing how much the ending sucked, so when I got around to watching it I had extremely low expectations for that ending. But thanks to those extremely low expectations, the ending actually turned out to be just fine, for me at least

Watch order of Kizumonogatari or whatever you call it collectively. (I have watched the three movies kizu1, kizu2, kizu3) And I dont want any made up, just how the show was aired from start to end

franxx came out right when the western world was discovering anime and everyone was watching it weekly, coincidentally franxx is the type of show that is best consumed in a weekly format so no wonder it was getting super popular. it's popularity got to a point where fans were sending death treads to the writer cuz they didn't like the event of the show. it was getting compared to the likes of evangelion and such (it was entring the big leagues)
so when the show dropped the ball at episode 16 (i think it's either episode 16 or 18. whenever they fuck the worldbuilding by essentially spoiling everything aka right before the aliens shtick) fans were super dissapointed.

so more than anything it's just a bad stroke of luck that franxx is remembered as bad as it is. (but dont make a mistake, the show went from a very strong 8 maybe a 9 to a 6 at best when they did that)
