| The Ranking Matches are here once again choosing players for the Inter-High, and while everyone is having pork cutlets, Matsuda breaks the mold by having Hamburg steak. Ayumi is even nice to hand him honey lemon slices. Everyone is doing more about the same as last time, except that the constant 2 (Yusa, Yokokawa) plus the new 2 (Mizushima, Matsuda) are the ones to focus on, and sadly for the latter, he lost focus somehow. I'd feel that it's good for Sakaki to be his check-buddy, otherwise he'd not be in his best shape...which subsequently continues on the play field, constantly mentally checking against expectations from the seniors being their last year and vying for a chance to play at least once. Matsuda going through the metamorphosis of his new attitude, and this is something that Mizushima has went through before, yet the former is also overthinking that's worse of how the latter fared the last time. But rather, match by match, Matsuda is taking it in his stride no matter. The ranked matches this time were better, but too fast to announce the Inter-High tournament once again. Anyways, one step forward for all is a good thing. |

I was surprised Matsuda lost. Dude was in his own head too much because he’s starting to grow and change. He’s opening up! Good he was able to recognize that and get his head back into the game to secure a spot in the end. |

| Hopefully Matsuda can get back to his dominant self again, rivaling Ryo. However, I doubt it since I think Ryo is pushed to surpass Yusa instead. It'll also be good nevertheless. |

| Matsuda was barely getting any screentime, then suddenly he's being affected by something his seniors said and we get no explanation as to why. Mizushima gives him a pep talk that can be boiled down to "stop caring about winning and just focus" and that seems to do the trick. It's like they tried to give matsuda some character development without putting any work or thought into it.
