man I wish I could understand what about this season makes me not like it as much. I think this was a pretty alright episode, I liked the backstory, I still don't understand what it is the green hair lady wants out of this. also pretty cool that the other other worlders are here even if I barely remembered them.

Probably lack of character development. The closest thing we get is flashbacks explaining the back story of characters that have been on screen for 4 episodes now that they were expecting us to care about.

Ralphtalia just says the MC's name over and over, that's all she's going to do for the rest of the season. Basically gave her the Asuna treatment from SAO.

Bad animation compared to last season

the plot is a giant turtle and not revenge anymore

all of the heros in the show act autistic constantly to the point where it's not even believable that they make the choices they make, besides the MC. However he's just kind of boring now so there's that. He has the same expression and attitude the entire show at all times.

the fight scenes aren't remotely interesting, they're boring. It also no longer shows him gaining new abilities or using them in interesting ways.

hmmm what else?

the cast you see on screen are background mob characters that for some reason got thrown in as a main cast. Old lady monk character??!? why is she taking up any screen time?

green hair girl that wears a chicken suit while being shy and that's her defining feature/personality

I'm just not rooting for any of the characters at all, and quite frankly i don't care how they defeat the girant turtle, which apparently can be one shot by the judgement beam from hundreds of miles away and be down for several days, so they don't really need the heros anyways.

Wow, you concluded this pretty perfectly.

You mean the director? Read the books instead, lots of good glass moments.

I am certain the adaptation is far from perfect, but my main problems with S1 lie with character and story writing, which are exclusively the author's fault. The direction actually seemed pretty decent (unlike in S2), so I just assumed she will get the same treatment from the author as most other characters.

I liked it because the episode shows Rishia telling the story of how she was saved by the hero of the shield and Naofumi decides to climb on the turtle's back and discovers that to defeat her he needs to destroy it your heart

Damn what happened to Naofumi? He just standing around there doing nothing, pretty much almost never talks, he is just sort of there and that's it, he seems to have no motivation whatsoever to what's he doing.
I miss when Naofumi actually had desires and a main goal motivating him, now it seems he is just going wherever the story asks him to go...

Naofumi briefly talking about poop is probably the best thing we've gotten from this series so far

Like Ost, my memory too is foggy, but if I remember correctly, L'arc, Glass, and that other chick are heroes from another world, right? They've just come to THIS world to save THEIR world, I think

What a disappointment this season has been so far. I'm sure it's partly because it lost it's biggest hook with Naofumi getting his name cleared end of s1 but it still took until the end of episode 4 for something interesting to happen. But hey, hopefully it will get better now that we're finally getting more about the other world's heroes! For the first time I'm actually looking forward to the next episode.

5 out of 5 just for the end. The rest of the episode had no action in it but that's okay, we still learn new things about Reiki.

And the return of Lark, Tellis and Glass has me hyped. I hope they'll fight once more and it'll be as cool as it was during S1

After an awful first 3 eps we actually got a decent episode for once. Hard to evaluate eps independently when the season as a whole has been such a poor adaptation, but this was solid. I did enjoy the campfire scene quite a bit.

Think the anime did a good job of showing you the impact Ost has had on Rishia. It’s hard to really feel her development tho because of how much the anime has skipped with the training arc and other bits of info, but she’s definitely grown.

The meeting in the LN was way better.
The art looks detailed unlike the anime, I'm disappointed now

Is destroying its heart really even going to defeat it? That's what they said about taking off its head. And yet, here we are.

For as much information people are saying has been cut from this season, they sure are talking a lot. At this point I'm just kind of hoping Season 3 will be good.

But that wouldn't explain why they think the other heroes are trapped in the turtle. I was so confused... Either it's a translation error or the directors skipped so much stuff, they made a plot hole.

I'm glad I'm not the only one confused by this. The three stooges made it pretty clear they didn't give a crap about the turtle.

Also I'm confused by Rishia's backstory. Wasn't she there when they formed their original parties in episode 1 of season 1?

Rishia is first shown in season 1 episode 21.
The three jabbers ran off to fight the turtle on their own when they heard about it, but went missing during the battle. The anime cut these information crumbs from the shadows and Fitoria...

another boring episode, this season is really living up to my expectations in that way, it was obvious by the end of the first season..

My favourite moment of perhaps the entire season so far: Ost starts whiny dialogue and Naofumi just walks away lmao

Glass is back huh, I guess its getting somewhat interesting? Though 1/3 of the cour is already over so it is about time.

We got some backstory to Rishia but will we ever see why she wears her fursuits all the time?
Eps 1 explained that it's so that she can work hard despite feeling down(since nobody could tell clearly when she's down)

I think you should watch Fairy Tail. They had more fighting scene. Or maybe DBZ or the big action shounens.

Shield Hero is heavier on lores and world building. Do you even remember what is the Spirit Tortoise's role that Ost had explained? Try answer it without looking back on the eps.

Can anyone tell me if the whole village and the shrine thing were ON the turtoise?? Naofumi said they are climbing the turtle. I don't understand how they were on the tortoise and the next thing we see is the queen and her army are there too. And if so, how they ignore the fact that the village is ON the turtle and how come it was ruined?

I am really disappointed with the story telling in this season. It's all over the place, those small things can sometimes break the whole reason/logic.

They went there first, found a village on ST back, then went to grab the Queen and some people to take care of the corpses and search for survivors(which ofc the people are already dead by the ST familiars attacking their place and chasing them who can't get down from ST's back. They are already killed before ST got first killed on the anime).

This is some of the most mind-numbing stuff I've ever had to sit through. There is absolutely nothing in this stupid spirit tortoise arc that is remotely as interesting as anything in the first season. Who are these new people? Why is this arc even important? Why should I even care? It's a real shame, since this series had a little something going for it.

Honestly, what's more absurd than having Rishia falling for bland Bow Hero is the fact of other Hero besides Naofumi actually being useful for once.

Also, why are they assuming the other three heroes are trapped inside the turtle? Didn't those idiots say in episode 1 that they were only interested in fighting Waves and shit?

Ya know.. So much happened in this episode while almost nothing happaned..

Who were those people living on Tortoise back? Why they dead? why people grieving? There isn't a single point in first 3 eps where they revealed that people were living on Tortoise back..

Atleast its nice to see Thicc Queen in her suit.. and oh! Glass is back! but.. I don't even properly remember her.. What role did she even played? lmao

Watch eps 1. They explained the name of the country where Spirit Tortoise is sealed, the Spirit Tortoise Kingdom. Since ST can use familiars, ofc above them are like soul harvest festival, thus why it became destroyed only on the area of people living since they target human souls.

For Glass and L'Arc, in season 1 is just heroes from otherworld who fought for their world. The complete reason will be revealed in season 2.
Try to rewatch s1 before complaining "I don't remember who are these people" when they clearly had roles.

A mysterious guy in black mantle in eps 1(glasses white haired guy that smiled in eps 2) said that they were killed when they tried to fight ST, but Fitoria confirmed that nobody died. Still, they are nowhere to be found, so they prob went straight to fight ST just like what the guy said.
