| What the hell is that speedrun... is there a fire somewhere?? Why are you so rushing. In just a few minutes viewers get so much information and then it gets doubled minutes later. There are no pauses, we just rush through all the talk needed right to the games... ugh. I don't like it. At all. When you read that the manga, you can adjust your speed and take your time, but here that looked like characters are going to interrupt each other, so fast everything happened. I think they should have added some stuff, get people used to the characters (quick bio on screen doesn't count lmao) in the first half of the episode and dedicate second half to all the explanation needed. Nope. First chapter is fat and it would have been enough for the introduction episode, instead it was shoved into 12 minutes. |

| It's funny how much you can guess about a series just from Game in the title. I generally enjoy this genre and don't expect all that much, but this wasn't a great start. Even trying to enjoy this brain off, I have to wonder at the characters not being bothered by this little walking mascot or magical coin. Why are they believing anything about the debt or the ability to get money back or that the coin isn't just being moved against their wills? A magnet tugging it would make way more sense than somehow moving the way least pushed. How's that supposed to work? There's a reason these shows usually have a mook to get killed demonstrating the captors are credible or will at least punish you for doubting. The ending note was amusing, though. Way better than the usual super logical genius beat the game answer. |

The friendship seems superficial. They seem more like a group of strangers to each other than anything. No build up. That's something the starting episode of every anime/story should have, to build a reason as to why we should care in the first place I don't think manga makes their friendship justice at the beginning neither but, ahem, shouldn't adaptations improve on the source material?... Well, judging by OP they're shoving into 12 episodes A LOT OF STUFF (much more than they should), so we don't have time to properly build characters)) As usual, anime is just an advertisement for manga. As someone who has been reading this for years, I am really glad more people will discover it and read it after s1 ends (because TomoGame is pretty niche). It's just... you can make an advertisement AND improve on some things, just like, for example, Jujutsu Kaisen did. And I am not talking about just animation quality. |

| I thought this episode was absolutely amazing. Don't know shit about the manga, and the reason they're there seems kinda dumb. But the suspense and horror throughout it all was great. Plus the MC, who is the poorest of the bunch, putting his own debt on the line and showing a crazy smile was just awesome. |
| These death game series are most of the time just dumb edge and hilariously bad cartoonish villians. Guess I'll stick around and just laugh/point at the cheesy shortcomings but will dump it if it gets to just dubmfuck levels like 5 seconds before battle. |

| Good episode I guess. The pacing is pretty fast though and they totally made the character introduction to be a 2-second still frame. I hope there will be more at stake like death than a simple debt. Debt is more suitable for adults so the effect might not be immediate or important enough for high schoolers. Always like betrayal theme like squid game, running man (earlier), danganronpa, zero escape etc, so will look forward to this. |

| Tenji got some weird ass unsymmetric hair style, man, ngl. Shibe sure an airhead one, but why suddenly confessed to Shiho? Then what secret they hold there and why she get flustered with Yuuichi? And i don't like that good girl introduction, felt really weak and mostly lead into a misunderstanding .... But anyway, this kind of thing always fascinating me. Not wasting any shit time and straight having 2 million yen got stolen from a frickin locker in lock. Even the introduction of the cast just put in a minimum. But at least the mc hold some interesting personality there, and smile. Even if i must be honest, its a bit sad having the mc always be the one who sacrifice all those dead weight. Hopefully there's a good 'story' behind that. All in all, even if this is not my priority show, i feel like i can get use to its story telling style, and lets see how far the twist keep entertaining me .... |

| Not a fan of shows that textdump the viewer to showcase each character personalities, or probably it fit these "friends" as they'd be replaced soon perhaps...?? Standard start for a debt@killing game and the vice-president is really suspicious for being the first to tell the group that "finding the one in debt is not important rn, better to focus on this weird game thingy" She's probably the one with the 20 million debt |

| I don't read the manga but this anime is giving me some Liar Game vibe. I've read the manga of that series and the live action and this anime seems like similar to that. If that is that case, then I am going to like this anime. |

| I randomly chose to watch this anime because seeing the poster alone I deduced it being some kind of Squid Game x Danganronpa x Kakegurui type of story which I think I'm not off in guessing. Also definitely a Hearts game if it was in Alice in Borderland. I can agree it's not definitely revolutionary but it's the type I'd reach or watch to pass the time, guessing who the traitor is. Reasoning behind comes later like how we're revealed early on the ones behind the screen. It would've been more painful if we got a gradual introduction of each character's relationship because we'd get attached at least to some extent but friendships in general even though shallowly presented but just enough of declaration makes me feel bad. In a friend circle, funny enough none of these people would be my friends given by what we know based on their introduction. Maybe because it's Japan that keeping 2m yen in a locker is alright but as someone who have been a class treasurer for some time, I make it a point to carry the money with me without making it obvious. The possible love triangle that I can sense kinda irks me lol but expected I guess? Everyone looks like they have secrets and I like how they seemed to be all a little crazy. It would be funny if this was all an unreliable narrator story that it's either instigated by the MC or all of them at the same time. |

| Good first episode, characters feel odd as those designs I've already seen in more or less better execution mc looks just like mc from ao no exorcist but with a better va, Sawaragi as a typical "prez" of the school anime ex. the main girl from classroom of the elite, Kokorogi as a typcal bullied girl, the blonde guy no need to say and the glasses guy just a typical type of Midorima from kuroko's basket. Obviously it feels like Alice in Borderland and Squid game but well the manga is from 2013 so it is better to say that Squid game feels like Tomodachi game. I guess most of these games will be like the 3rd or 4th episode of Alice, where the real solution is "hidden", it might be obvious or hard to find out but it will be a hidden way to beat those games as we've seen in this first episode that something is odd, I hope it will be only better cause it feels to be a very strong title of this season, can't wait for next episodes. |

It reminds me a lot more of Alice in Borderland then Squid Game imo.. probably cuz Alice in Borderland used "friends" as its dynamic.. which is practically similar to this.. | These type of murder mystery game anime always get a shot from me. But the start was pretty fast paced. There is no real connection with the characters yet (both viewer to characters and characters between each other). I hope it is intentional but so far I feel like they should put more effort into showing why they are friends (emotional bagage) to make things more heavy. Its about their friendship after all. The stakes feel pretty low right now and it would be nice if they can create a feeling for the viewer that makes them care about them being friends. Not all in one episode ofcourse.. but they seem to gloss over it rn. Throughout the episode I feel like they wanted us to be like 'omg nooooo that's terrible' but it all feels very... Blank? Hope they can create this. The setting is interesting though. I will definitely give this another 3 episodes at least. |

And what is up with that glasses guy hair lmao Battle game in 5 second was so bad mate the first episode was okay then the cgi came in later eps which was shit and the backstory of some of the characters couldn't have been more boring I feel this is def better than that |

Since we're still only at the first game, I am sure they'll pass, but after that is a different matter. I am intrigued, these kinds of shows are usually always entertaining at least. |

But since the pacing was so fast, and there were a lot of subtitles on the screen when they were explaining the rules, I didn't understand anything, so when the episode ended i was beyond confused. I had to read the manga chapters and rewatch the episode and pause it a lot to understand. Maybe it's just me being dumb tho hahah |

| A good first episode to get things rolling. I had flashbacks of Euphoria when they first woke up in that room. Glad we're not in for those kinds of games. The psychological mind games going on Yuiichi's mind was definitely interesting. I'm still not convinced with how everyone just sort of accepted that one of their friends got them into this mess and since they value their friendship so much they're good to play this game. Like at the very least try understanding which one of them was the culprit. Only Yuiichi tried too and that raises more questions on the others. Apart from that, the first game was compelling enough and everyone except Yuiichi seem super SUS. And THAT RUMORED SMILE...... kizumi91 said: Nice first episode. | Definitely some reused ideas from many other similar premises. Expectations are pretty low tbh to avoid inevitable disappointment. The style seems to have a hybrid of anime, manga and visual novel directing and aesthetic, which isn't too great for just a sit down watch when you want to just not have to pause and read every few moments. I also thought it was a bit too rushed, and the psychological drive within the characters is overly predictable after knowing their short expositional character introductions. Nevertheless, the score and animation was neat, it retains my love for game style shows like this, to where if the quality is bad or average, I'd still enjoy watching. But I doubt there would be anything exceeding in quality to come out of this |
