every man in Hakozume is a bad person! for example, Kawai's father is a drunk man who gets his family to trip rarely! (in the official Funimation subtitle the word "rare" is exactly written so we are not talking about fansub!) Although Kawai mentioned his father only got his family on a trip once!

or every lawbreaker is an abusive man but every lawbreaker woman is polite and nice! (like the old woman on a bike who got Speed penalty and never insulted Fuji)

or another example is they warn two high schoolboys for smoking but when they find a woman who is smoking too, their Behavior changes and speak so polity to her (even the way she is sat is good! but anime shows men so dirty)

even the design of men's faces and shapes is ugly but every woman's design Is like they are oppressed

I'm not trying to say that all men are great and they never do mistakes but this anime shows every man in a negative way, not a fair way, and women are Oppressed or 100% nice

I understand that I can not watch this (so I dropped) but I just want to share my feeling about it and I think Hakozume is Misandric

Nah, it's not. It is real life thing, that women will treat female strangers better and I don't think it would be controversial to say that.

Both genders here are presented as flawed.
Keep in mind, that Seiko was literally demoted for workplace harassment. It is possible, that she reflected, but her internal monologues shows she still has much to do.

Also, all of those "ugly" mem in appearance and middle aged men, so..
Also, male burglar from 1st episode was surprisingly nice.
Gorilla Investigator is also chill guy.

You did notice basically all of Seiko’s old coworkers (all male) stood up for the one female in their unit when a guy harassed and spoke down to her for being a woman? I’d say they got portrayed as very stand-up guys at least. And Kawai’s dad. Yes, he gets portrayed as a person perhaps too fond of drinking, but he’s also portrayed as someone who cares deeply for his family. Hell he’s kept a speeding ticket for over a decade to remind himself to do better because an action of his caused his daughter to be scared. Furthermore, we’re two episodes in to the series. It’s kinda early to say “this series portrays x character 100% only like this and x character 100% only like that”.

Nah.The senior girl says both genders suck when the junior says she's scared of men after the dv case. Smoking is taken seriously in Japan, they wanted to affirm the women's age first. The junior had trouble doing this so the senior showed her how it's done without a hassle. Even n that scene the women were abusing her because she was doing it right. The girls are polite to everyone.

And the superior of the other girl, he was scary on the outside but was sweet in the inside. The men in the office were busy with their own thing, so they couldn't help the junior. It doesn't depict onee gende above the other.

Guys it’s an anime it’s fictional….

Don’t compare to real life….

I mean If it was real life or based on real life Japanese policing

The coroner would of been called for the death of that old man in episode 3…. No parademics or health professionals where called on to the scene 🤦 .

And before any one quotes my comment…

I am Nearly 30… and have friends in police and healthcare
And I can assure you all countries follow similar rules to dealing with natural deaths or suspicious deaths

Shit hot take my friend. I hope you are not one of those people who scream for men being helpless when Infact we both know the crime against women are far more brutal and higher in percentage.

The author was a police officer for 10 years so why would she make up stuff like that?
Unless this was an anime only scene.

Literally false but go off.
crime against women by men are higher than the crime against men by woman. If this is false do post the stats with proof. I can post it literally from any news outlet. Fo now!

It's mentioned on the manga's official website:
"She worked for a certain prefectural police for 10 years. In 2017, without listening to the restraint of her editor, she abandoned the stability of a civil servant and became a full-time mangaka."

You could also check this 4 page interview with the author (in Japanese).
Some background about the author in English

Edit: Got these lovely messages from @Hashiriya_weeb87 today for giving him the "proof" that he wanted.

You're spot on, OP.

Garbage, man-hating propaganda is how I would summarize this anime.

The source manga was started at the height of the #MeToo era, and it shows.

So far, 3 of 5 released episodes are so bad that they are unwatchable. Even the other 2 episodes have moments of misandry.

It's a real shame, because the anime production values and voice acting are excellent. They are are the only silver-lining in this turd.

The anime has a promising 1st episode, but it goes downhill from there. More than a few anime in recent times have had a couple anti-male episodes to play to the current political climate, but Hakozume goes way beyond the usual level.

This explains so much.
I really wanted to like this show. I got through the first 4 episodes because Fuji was hot. The only other thing it that going for it was the unfiltered truth of how bad the job is or can be.

An the other hand I felt under attack about 60% of the time. Ia m not a thief, street punk, dangerous driver, drug dealer, nor had sexual relation with unwilling children(I really felt disgusted at that story in more ways than one). Yet I felt like this show wanted to tell me that I am evil or stupid, depending on the character, because I exist.

I can think of only one woman criminal in this whole show and all she did was shoplift so that the hot office man would give her some attention.
Meanwhile the weakest thing a man has done in this show was, might be forgetting something, was burglary.
Hell about half of the crimes in this show were man on women.

I don't think so, I mean yeah the men were all ugly, but I didn't feel any hate for them being expressed in the show.
I will say Yamada was my favourite, even though he looked like the short tempered stereotype, or the comedy relief dumb stereotype. He was pretty likable. Fuji was charming and I loved her no holds barred personality.
Plus SNK also has only ugly men in it and a handful of pretty girls, why not call that anime misandric and see what the fanbase have to say.

I think you may have missed the point. It's not about them being ugly or you liking/hating them.
It's that on a general level men are painted with a negative light or made out to be incompetent, while women are painted positively or not that serious.
It's trying to make you think less of the men in the show while brushing off whatever the women did.

I like Fuji as well.

SNK? Well whatever. Once again it's not about how they look it's about how they are presented.

In that case the bearded guy (judo bear) was presented well. The afro guy was a lady killer and one I respected for his skills. Yamada I have a crush on, despite his "wanted poster" like visuals. Even the student that helped them in their final case was presented pretty well and accurately.

Nah, the police force is mostly male, and they had their time to shine.
Obviously not as much as the protagonists, but come on, can't compete with protagonist powers.

Just because they didn't follow the trending bishounen look doesn't make them ugly.
Though making fun of the detectives for looking like yakuza was a bold statement about their fashion sense.

Let's not kid ourselves okay? Minamoto Seiji is the only one that is average looking and his hair ruines what little charm he has. Plus my standard for male\female beauty is just extreme, so don't concern yourself with it.
As for the detectives, let's not forget that once upon a time, the police in Japan were simply not enough in quantity, to keep everything in order and relied heavily on the yakuza. the detectives fashion sence simply reflets the respect they have for yakuza and how people view the yakuza.
