I really liked the first season and the second season is actually very different. The targets, environment or other things are so different it felt like this is a different anime with same characters. Also as a shounen it gives us what we want. Why y'all hate this season so much, I don't understand I really liked this season too. (this is NOT April Fool I'm so serious)

It’s definitely not overhated

Season 1 was, as you said yourself, different the main focus was on Mystery aspects and it had a nice pinch of Psycho in it, also the pacing was good, simply said it was entertaining. Season 2 felt like a fantasy Anime with a cheap plot, Im actually not only blaming S2 but the whole story how it proceeds after they break out.

Coming from the perspective of someone who disliked the first season (I loved most of it, HATED the ending), the second season manages to be even worse, its not even that they skipped so much from the manga, I haven't read it, but it was obvious to see them set up an arc then skip it, it was just literally what the fuck is going on half the time
on top of that, the pacing was just shit

What? You didn't feel the black hole vacuum between chapter 4 and 5?? I haven't read the manga and even I notice these inconsistencies.

Some spoilers here of manga. So be careful

As someone who has not read the manga. This season was bad. While in the bunker, they did nothing then left. While there was a room that looked important that never got explained. Norman was unbearable to watch during the whole time. The ending was horrible and the bad guy was poorly portrayed ( I do not know if he is good in the manga). And the ending was horrible. She stays then a PowerPoint presentation happens that gives nothing to the watchers and only the manga readers ( how the hell does Emma meeting God end up in a slideshow?) and then she comes back like nothing happens.

Op song is a banger though.

This sums up my thoughts on this season, as a manga reader I was very disappointed
Falling into the Romcom hole. Shonen still my favorite tho.

the second season compared to the manga is very very rushed. they skipped an entire arc and new characters. and even if they skipped the arc and all that they could have made it an okay season somehow but it was just soooo rushed. it was so disappointing. i loved the manga though.

Cuz it's shit, pure and simple.
The whole series died with them leaving the plant. The world is just generic isekai stuff with dull social commentary and every new character is trash. It went from a world shrouded in mystery to "we gotta save everyone because we are the good guys" generic shounen 101 storytelling.

My mans, they skipped like 80 chapters at first and then gave us the last 40 chapters as a powerpoint presentation. There was no climax and the brilliant character trio built up as geniuses in the first season made so many dumb decisions, even Phil could've come up with better plans

it was not a success I guess !
they were rushing to have an episode at the end of the day and they just dropped some ideas , if you watch the last episode there are no credits since everybody was trying to find quicky an ending...

Its fine as an anime-only tbh, these people rate it so low, simply because everybody else is doing it, without forming their own opinion.

i just watched the 2nd season recently. i thought it was pretty good. something did seem a little off though.

Emma never sees the consequences of her actions and they take the naive route of her wanting demons and humans to coexist knowing it’s not possible. Her character had no progression and maturity throughout the entire 2nd season and realistically people should’ve died because of it

I didn't read the manga, you could be right they could skip an important chapter but this is still very good. It could be 10/10 if you're right.

They didn't skip one important chapter, the skipped like half of the entire manga, the manga was just as good as season one and season two could have been amazing but its just meh

The manga went down hill, and this is a horrible adaptation by any metric, it isn't "overhated" it's just plain bad.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

They skipped not only the BEST arc and one of the most important characters of the series (Yugo) but also most of the characters, the development and story. They just decided to go anime only story and made a PowerPoint presentation at the end with things that actually happened in the manga which I find ridiculous. They just butchered a great story/world, and being honest even if the manga didn't exist and this was the intended ending of the story is still very bland (Opposed to the good delivery of season 1)

Because nothing past like episode 4 makes any sense, not to mention they completely butchered what could have been a great adaptation for Goldy Pond, but instead they ditched some of the best characters in the series, make the characters so much dumber, have a character that just gives them a map out of nowhere, and half ass the ending

They skipped like 90% of the manga, left out important characters from the manga, and made an alternate ending. That slideshow at the very end was a complete slap in the face to every fan of this series. I'd give this show a 0/10 if MAL would let me rate below 1. It's complete and utter garbage that'll hopefully get remade one day from scratch.

The rating I gave to the season 1 was 8.

The rating I gave to the season 2 was 10.

I literally think that season 2 was better, I even yawn sometimes while watching season 1.

Rating is kinda low because it would have disappointed manga readers but for me_
Season 2 was satisfying and made me cry sometimes.

I don't watch anime according to their ratings. I watch'em, rate'em, and gives my own opinion 'bout it.

I'm not one of those gays who hates sakura just because internet told them😤 (She's useless).

Yet I've made a plan to read the manga and to make my own opinion up there doubtful someday.

Sayonara.

Even if you didn’t read the manga it’s very blatantly obvious some degree of fuckery was going on with the second season with that bullshit timeskip, the shitty way they brought back norman, and the rushed PowerPoint ending.

No, it is truly deserves its low score, even when not comparing with the manga. The pacing is like the content of 5 seasons with the best arcs skipped, the writing and characters are terrible everytime. things get resolved with no explanation ans ends up with a slideshow that doesn't tell anything on it. In absolutely no way, I recommend this season. In all the animes I have watched, this season alone is a contender for one of the worst animes I've watched until now.
Reviewing is not easy.

Second season begs the question: "WHY EVEN BOTHER MAKING THIS SEASON?!"

They could've made 2-3 more quality seasons, or waited more years! YET, this adaptation was released and felt like they got bored or lost interest and decided to "fuck it, lets get over with this!" and rushed to the finale instead!

Complete disrespect to the source material. Absence of passion and interest to the show. Even laziness. This is how I see season 2.

As people mentioned already, they cut out A LOT of content.

Imagine if in Harry Potter, they jumped from "Prisoner of Azkaban" to "Half-blood prince", and, instead of 2-part finale, you get 30 minutes of content (mostly final fight) and then several 1-shot frames of certain events and deaths that occurred, then the movie jumps to the train-station final scene and credits roll! Abysmal adaptation!

Because of stupid manga readers didn't accept the anime adaptation. What's wrong with the difference between anime and manga? They are so immature. Screw all the haters

Cause ppl rated the animation studio instead of the anime itself

And it seems most of them think the anime and manga should be the same , its a diferent story

If i had to compare this anime to my most liked anime , i would give it less than 3 , cause i like thoses a lot more , but if i want to rate the anime , and this anime alone , not the manga , not the other anime , then i would give it 7 , im not going to be the kind of guy who get mad at an animation studio by reducing the score of an anime

If i ever read the manga , i will also not reduce its score cause theres no animation or voice actor or cause they didnt include something that was in anime , so why would i reduce the anime cause they reduced the amount of data from the manga , and im actualy happy about removed part , cause they can put new things that arent in manga , increasing character development and story

If some ppl want an anime without anything removed from the manga , they should watch anime that dont have a manga , they are called Original Story , such as Madoka Magica

So my score is 7 , while the story deserve a 8 , thats not the kind of story you want to rewatch the next day , so minus 1 , and why 8 , well not enough character development , some missed oportunity , like norman return , there wasnt enough reaction from the kids , the last part with the song , we can see emma and that demon , i guess the promisse one , all this part is kind of skiped , yet the anime is 11 episode instead of 12 , for all of this 8 instead of 9 , for an anime to reach 10 , well i cant explain it but it have to have something unique

Most of my anime are 7/10 , so its quite average on my rating , i hardly rate less than 3 or more than 7 and i usualy focus anime that should reach a 7
Loli world is just a cute world full of cute meat

They have skipped an arc - correct, which made the series loose it's original flavor. The motivations of the characters now seem half-baked when in reality the author had already clarified this in the manga. Also, at this point where Emma, Ray and Norman meet there is a 2 year gap instead of the 1 year gap they have shown it anime. P.S. I haven't read manga before the special episode, I read the manga after seeing all this hate and it is the best decision I have made. Read the manga and then watch this if you can.

Tbh i will be hated for this take. But i enjoy S2 way more than S1. First of all, i joined the Promised Neverland train after hearing how bad s2 it is compared to season 1, but tbh, season 1 was one of most boring things i recently watched alongside Dragon Ball: Super Hero. First season is 1:1 Michael Bay's "The Island" with some Orwell elements and so much filler, you can build a next great wall of china out of it. I swear, you could pack entirety of S1 into 5-6 episodes and the show wouldnt lose anything from the plot. Atm im on chapter 5 of Season 2 and even though its still "The Island" clone with now some Horizon elements, its much more bearable as the show is much faster and more action packed, but not enough to bore me as a viewer cuz imo pacing is well managed. Im hopeful it will stay as good till the end of it, but for now its already better than entirety of s1 which even though it tried to do a plot twist on a plot twist type of story, it made me as a viewer exhausted pretty quickly.
