Because MAL incorrectly states it as only 14 chapters

In any case, I'm glad it ended happily.

Epilogue chapter... That last page... It feels like it was a happy end but it feels like there's some foreboding there

Wonder if it'll ever get a sequel, though I feel it's still a nice ending even if it's somewhat ambiguous. Kiji ended up being an extreme case of what a sociopath is, but it was nice to finally see him grow to become a better person

I'm glad it had a happy ending, it was a nice manga overall.

I really hope this makes it to a 3 episode Ova or something. This manga is pretty unique and needs to be animated IMHO.

I can't believe this got a happy ending. The charm of the manga is in its deliberate sadism, that unexplained psychotic nature between the torturer and the victim. It's such a shame it deviated off its path to satisfy publishers and editors.

I don't think it's charm was sadism at all. Kiji was definitely a pretty odd fellow, but he never deviated into sadism or torture. Overall I felt that his relationship with Ogeha was rather cute from beginning to end.

It was more "stupid and depressed middle school brat" than "sadism" to be honest... In the first couple of chapters, I wanted to punch that dude in the face, not because he was cold or cruel but because he was stupid af... I mean he asks his sensei if he should feed the bug... Wth?!

Overall it was a pretty decent read, I didn't feel much cuteness about it, just felt bad for the bug girl. I wished for an ending where she would evolve into something that looked more like butterfly and fly off to somewhere far away, perhaps on good terms with Kiji.

in the "Reflection Meeting" after the last page he said he did like a extreme tsundere or something like that.. it's the reason i disliked the manga at the start
i wish he made more chapters

A fairly good manga from Oimo.
It's not extraordinary or great, but as basic and unoriginal as it is, it's decently charming in its own way. 6/10.

I first expected a bad horror ending where Ogeha breeds with Kijima and kills him afterwards, while humanity gets consumed by her species- which seems that may happen or is inevitable with another of her kind appearing in the end.

It's an interesting read though.
A boy in our protagonist Kijima is a child who doesn't care about his education due to it feeling meaningless and boring, so when he finds Ogeha who peaks his interest he takes care of her, even though he treats her like an insect unworthy of humane care in the beginning.
Ogeha is a caterpillar-like species that consumes humans and certain food to grow into a "butterfly", that can also absord a human and absorb the human's intellect to speak and become humanoid. She also has a lethal sharp tail that she can retract. Pretty cool.

The experience of emotions in this story starts from one of pity for Ogeha who gets treated inhumanly by Kijima, to a conflict of Ogeha's own judgement to how she feels about him, to later one of refreshment in some way by Ogeha choosing Kijima over what her kind wanted, to take over Earth.

The girl who likes Kijima isn't very useful to the story. As the Mangaka says, she has awful taste, lol.
I think she only liked him for his looks by what was shown since it doesn't seem she knows him at all. No matter.
She was a character who was questioned inside her home by those caterpillars hosting an old fat man which was scary.

The abuse and fear of Ogeha and progression of care from Kijimi l, and Ogeha being conflicted but realizing his kindness was intriguing.
A bad horror ending would have been entertaining, but this was cute. I wish they showed a vision of what her true form should look like though.

I thought the ending notes were a bit strange. To make Ogeha less ugly you decided to use sex appeal for a character that looks like a child?? A rather lame excuse for wanting to just write, and not in my opinion but could be said, overly sexualised character. Any who, I'm glad it was a 'happy' ending and i thought this scene was cute.
