Why the idol thing?

I didn't think there was going to be any more idol stuff since the start of episode 1, but here we are in episode 6 and it ends with a presentation in the ice from the girls for no reason (it's not spoiler, it's just not connected to the actual plot at all). It made me want to throw up. And don't get me wrong, I love idols, I watch almost every seasonal idol show, if not all. It's not either that the animation, singing or dancing was bad; it just doesn't fit with the vibe of the show. For a cute-girls-doing-cute-things type of show it's serious and decent enough, especially when we get an actual match, it's "sporty" enough, acceptable, it makes it feel like an actual spokon. But then they add this kinda thing and ruin all the seriousness it built and it push potential viewers away; I also don't know if it's helpful for attracting players, since it's a game-promotional anime, but I don't think it's that effective, don't even speak of necessary.

I was very surprised that they didn't have any idol moments between episode 2 through 5. But yeah ion really like the whole idol thing.

I think it comes down to appealing to a much larger, established group of viewers. Someone who enjoys idol stuff but doesn't know anything about hockey might give it a chance.

Also from what I've seen, it's a pretty big project. There's been a lot of collabs and promotional stuff in the city of Nikko. I think the potential revenue is considerably higher just by dipping it's toes in the idol stuff. Maybe they could have made the anime without the idol aspect but it would be a much smaller project, worse studio, more outsourcing, etc.

Personally it doesn't bother me that much because of how it's been done so far. I'd take 2% of the show being idol when the rest is solid and the potential money might be the difference between whether there's a season 2 or not.

It's mostly a gag at this point I feel. Though let's be honest they gotta sell the merch and blu rays somehow. That being said they must have partnered up with the studio that did the idle scenes for Zombieland saga. The singers were the same as was the cg style. Btw if you haven't seen zombie saga go watch it

Because it's smartphoneshit advertisement that's whole selling point are cute girls. Girls look cuter in idol outfits than in hockey clothes
