This is just the movie with a small bit off extra animation, there isn't much difference in what is covered (to my knowledge) so just watch whatever version you like

They are both pretty much the same, so they are both really good. But for me, I’d rather watch a movie than 7 episodes. Still gonna watch it tho lol

Movie first and then this cause it comes out with weekly episodes first so why not. But watch the movie first because the opening has spoilers.

All openings have spoilers. I don't even think the spoilers in the opening spoil too much either.

The opening will ruin the part where
when i saw that part i was absolutely flabbergasted. And i think that if someone sees the opening for this. It'll ruin the surprise for them.

I'd recommend the movie for a slightly less stretched out version of the story.

Watch episode 1 (it's a nice filler episode) and then watch the movie.

I'm still watching the episodes though, I will simply fast-forward the parts I already saw in the movie.

First watch movie as it is nearly a perfect adaptation of The Mugen Train arc with great animation and if you like so watch the tv version also for entertainment just like me😁.

I haven't read the manga but if they skipped some small parts from the manga in the movie, they might have animated it in this tv version...

this will have extra scenes but i would recommend movie because you have to wait so long for this to end and the extra scenes are nothing but filler

well I see that part as a cheap twist with giving no clue and I am sure most people do think that as me

Honestly the movie was so damn good. But it's worth watching this way too, so we can get content leading up to the new season. There's like... Slight differences. It's super good either way.

I'd say watch the movie first and then you could watch all of the episode or just ep 1 since ep 1 has new content

Honestly you should watch this instead of the movie but if you feel too restless, the movie is the go.

Watch the first episode, it's what happens before they get on the train. Then you can decide if watch the next 6 episodes or watch the movie.

I prefer the episodes for 3 reasons,
1. There is extra content in the episodes (episode 1)
2. I like openings and endings
3. Episodes give me good opportinities to take breaks without getting the feeling like I'm interupting what I'm watching

I think Openings always have spoilers
That's why I always skip 1 and a half minutes of opening and then watch when the anime or the season is finished
.

I never watched the movie and was wondering why this series only has 7 episode compared to a normal season of 12/13 episodes...

Well, guess I'll just watch the anime.

Since while it's mostly the same, but sources said they add some other new stuff (or cut'd out stuff) that wasn't in the movie.

Personally I would say watch episode 1 and then the movie. The extra clips are barely anything so it doesn't matter.

I already watched the movie a couple of months ago, so I'm just watching ep 1, since the other 6 episodes have roughly 15 minutes of new material split among them, much of which is redundant / filler.

What's frustrating is that ep 1 was packed as the first episode of an 'alt version' rather than a separate special. Hence -technically- if I only watch ep 1 I would need to keep the listing eternally either as 'Watching' or 'On-Hold'... The obvious solution would be to look up for the new scenes and watch them on their own and then close the listing as 'Completed'; if they're even worth it..

Thanks for the feedback but I would suggest you covered that big spoiler with a spoiler tag, like above, since not everyone has watched the movie and the TV version, for those who prefer that, is ongoing. The OP probably hasn't yet either. I'm halfway into ep 1, I'm not going to watch the other 6 and will probably not look for the extra scenes either.

It's nothing new the show has done though. The first opening showed sequential plot elements unfiltered on it with no context. Doesn't say much though.

Will have to wait untill all 7 episodes out to know they will most likely add extra scenes here and there and a bridge to the next arc

Are you referring to additional scenes in these 7 episodes or a bridge to the next arc? because if you are talking about additional scenes then they are adding some new scenes here and there, these are additional scenes from the latest episode that you won't find in the movie:

Because of these additional scenes I will actually go for these 7 episodes instead of the movie, those additional scenes are making the anime even better IMHO.

So... the movie was like 90 minutes, so 7 episodes should mean at least 40 minutes of extra content, right? That seems substantial.

Even though I enjoyed the movie, I feel like the tv version pretty much makes it obsolete. Unless you're really strapped for time, the tv version is the best since it spaces out the events in a nice way which leads to better pacing overall. Plus there's some extra details and a kick-ass op/ed to look forward to each episode. Although since you've already watched the movie, I'd recommend checking out this week's episode at least as it could add more to the ending of this arc than the film did.
