| So far after two episodes into it, if I had to give it a rating as of now, I'd probably give it the same as the first season, which is a 6/10. It's a 6/10-level series for me, which isn't a bad thing, but of course it could be far more, but I don't know that they're necessarily striving for that. I just wish they would focus more on the actual functional and mechanical dynamics of pottery and pottery production and the art of pottery in general. But if most anime are designed to promote something, be it a manga, light novel, regular novel, visual novel, video game or toy or trading card franchise, etc., then in addition to promoting the actual original Yakunara Mug Cup mo manga, this and the source material itself seem crafted to promote tourism and local cultural attractions in the city of Tajimi itself, perhaps to stimulate the local economy/tourism/investment in Tajimi and the surrounding area. That's an interesting notion if true, since rather than the usual book or comic or game, the anime is providing color and awareness to a specific real life area and people in a community of Japan. That makes it more interesting to me on its face. And even though I'd like to see a more in-depth dive into pottery production, I did appreciate the second episode exploring more of Nao, her past, and the source of her affection for Hime, since she is my favorite character. |
