A very kind and hard-working individual is working on translating the novel (along with the Serial Experiments Lain PS1 game). He has currently released chapter one, and has also finished most of the second-to-last chapter and the first half of the second and third chapters.

Yeah, I meant I didn't expect anyone to start a translation project.
Well, I'm looking forward to it! ^^

Did the anime supposed to follow the novel? It's damn sad Nakamura died and the anime died with him... It could've been a masterpiece of modern animation.

This could have probably been the best anime that no one could ever see...

So is there an estimate as to when the translations will be done?
This will probably be the only light novel that I will ever read.

Well it's a two-way tie between this and Satoshi Kon's "The Dream Machine". Though if pressed to choose one I wish I could see the most, I'd personally go with Despera.

im fine with having the anime indefinitely shelved but for the novel's translation to stagnate for this long is utterly unforgivable.

Agreed. It's a travesty nothing has been translated, but the real question is: Was anything outside of just a few chapters ever written in the first place?

from what i know there's literally noone that would work on translating despera aside ain, that was linked in the OP, he dropped a single chapter as a preview but went radiosilent shortly.

what i can say though, is that russians translated the novel couple or three months ago, all chapters. if you know anyone that would know russian and/or japanese and with a courage, you can tell them, maybe they can use that as a reference

or you can use deepL

sorry for the late reply, i think you can find it on vk by just inputting key words like despera and whatnot and get it there

f not, there's direct link for the translation: i think it's against the rules on this forum, i'm sorry

the author did not include the credits for the translation, so if you want to verbally support them, please do, i cannot access vk as of right now because i don't feel like enabling vpn for this is all worth it. enjoy

yeah, it's a light-novel, more of a draft anime of which is going to be based and hopefully expanded on
according to konaka's tweets not too long ago we can wait for announcements next year at best
