Nameera said:Well personally the anime is good if you are interested in slow developing romance. It is cute and funny. I don't like the bullying part but use 3 EP rule if u like.
honyax said:i would say that it is a pretty basic high school plot. season two made me a lil frustrated ngl n some of it was predictable but all n all, i do think it is worth watching. it is a wholesome story. they only animated 47/123 chapters so there is sm more to it. i even read the manga n they should have kept going but they didnt. anyways, it is all on you tho, watch some more eps n if you dont vibe with it, drop it(;

Which one do you guys prefer?

Long Answer: YES.
Kimi ni Todoke is among the best romance series ever created.
Oregairu is the King of Romance in LN, but in manga is more like a Round Table since there’s like 10 series that are above everything else in this genre.
Kimi ni Todoke belongs in that tier.
But is it a good Romance?
It depends on what you consider “Good” since that is subjective.
Let’s put a comparison so we can get a better idea:
The ones similar in being captivating and overall good but in a tier below that are contemporary today now would be Tonikaku Kawaii, Komi-San maybe.
Imagine the same popularity that Kanojo Okarishimasu has today, while you know, being actually great and 10 times better.
That’s how massive the difference in quality and storytelling is the old series compare to the mainstream.
Kimi ni Todoke, Fruits Basket, Kaichou wa Maid-Sama, Horimiya are among those series that nobody considers bad.
“But what about the tropes. That’s so generic”.
It’s not fair to call them generic without the correct analysis.
They were not released today but a long time ago.
What you call tropes, generic and overused you have to put into context.
It’s cliche and repetitive today, this manga is over 20 years old so is more like they were the ones in charge with creating said tropes so way back when it was considered new.
Nowadays everyone repeats what they created before that’s why they’re cliches.
They are the originals.
Is the Anime good adaptation?
The anime covers up to Chapter 45, including both seasons.
The manga is 130 Chapters long, so 1/3 of the whole story is still missing.
Regarding if it’s a faithful adaptation it follows the manga picture by picture.
So you will be able to capture the essence of the show through the Anime as the author intended.
Is it a good romance? NO.
It’s a great romance series. Worth watching but even more worth reading.
