So bittersweet. I didn't expect about half of the pages so it was beautiful.

I like to post in manga forum when I feel it is worth it, so people will think. "Shit, is her again" or something.

People asked me where I read certain thing but the rules say no telling where did you read so maybe I am too boring for not saying? Or salty because you didn't check my profile that says don't ask because I hate people to ghost me after that. I love learning languages so maybe I did not read the manga in English.

Finally it's been approved >< I finished this at the end of December last year, and I still remember the impact of reading this one-shot. When I read it, I cried so much, even just thinking about it after, I would cry in bed and my tears would fall.

I know the content is quite controversial, given that the soul loved someone who had neglected him and left him to die. Ozaki Kaori has always written really interesting characters, and I don't think she's saying that the lady should be forgiven, but she wanted to portray that love is complicated yet simple at the same time. While the soul only chose to be born to the lady because of of her appearance, he loved her as his mother. Even though he died due to child neglect, he remembered all the good memories he had with her. The soul even admitted that if he had lived into adulthood, he would've surely came to hate his mother. BUT, he was just a child. The soul's purity and innocence is what made this story so touching, even with the acknowledgement that he would've hated his mother, he still found her to be the most beautiful person in the world--to continuously want to be reborn as many things just to be with her once more.

We're not meant to empathize with the mother, I definitely didn't. Yet, the story was still wonderfully written. What Ozaki Kaori excels at is the poetic pages. The part where the soul started his thoughts, "I always was born again in different forms," until "It's me. Every one of them, it's me." That line hit the hardest. It also reminded me of another poetic scene in her manga, Immortal Rain. And perhaps another reason why the one-shot hit me so hard is that it almost leaves me with a yearning of wanting to feel this unconditional love the spirit has given the lady.

Right, this one-shot has some veeeery questionable ideas.

This would have been a lot better without the unnecessary "good and evil are just an illusion" crap. That line alone turned what should've been a bittersweet and reasonably unbiased story about morality and suffering to a slightly apologetic and evidently skewed — if not unhealthy — parable on behalf of the mother. It's not blatant, but it's undeniably there, especially since the line is spoken by an angel, who's usually depicted as a symbol of righteousness. Even if not apologetic, it deals with the matter in an odd way that feels almost romanticised.

Sure, mob mentality is screwed up, and she was broken emotionally way before she did that, but you probably shouldn't oversimplify such a complex matter in a way that sounds like "hey let's not judge the girl who left a kid to rot locked up in an apartment full of trash". This gave me uncomfortable The Giving Tree flashbacks in the worst way possible. Definitely didn't sit well with me.

I have read the manga and it's very beautiful. In my opinion, we can also say that this manga was a short love letter to the mother's and son's bond but I want to buy it in hard form also, I looked up on many sites including Amazon, Bookdepository and betterWorldbooks, etc but I didn't find it so can anyone please suggest a place where we can buy this manga.

Not sure if this was posted before the posts merged but this oneshot was featured in the third volume of Golden Sheep. I couldn’t find it at book depository but if you look up the ISBN - 9781949980127, you might be able to find it.

An oddly conflicting story in the end, yet still intriguing for being thought provoking, even though I'm personally left disatisfied in not fully accepting the outcome of that soul's first death.

I like the idea of still loving his mother for the love she showed, while the carelessness to let him die while being disgusting I guess could be excused for the somewhat unfair circumstances of life that lead her to give birth to a child at an early age with difficulty to live and stay financially stable while selling herself for money.

... But the subtle maturity in that of the soul is ruined when he immaturely and quickly reasons that he loves her for his beauty of which he was attracted to from first sight.

If it weren't for that, and he was completely rational in his feelings without the awkward random childish reason while he showed a mature outlook, I would have rated this higher, but that odd switch killed it a bit for me.
The reincarnation of a cat, to a flower, and a raindrop, etc. was interesting.
... Nonetheless, it's still beautiful in a abstract way, even though it's slightly difficult to forgive her while his love seems too immature to my liking for something so cruel such as locking her apartment for her child to die... 7/10.
