Would have liked the animation to be better for this, can clearly see the drop in quality every time there is a battle. Shun was as annoying as usual trying to play the hero, was pretty happy that at least that blond guy had a level head when he told them to bail on the elves. They can barely protect themselves and all of a sudden want to fight for the elves who treat them like shit. No one on the human side has their priorities set and it is very frustrating to watch. Sensei especially, if she really wanted to save and protect the students then siding with the elves is obviously a dumb idea. |

Studio Millepensee fr getting comfortable with ramping up the CGI. Five years ago they helped produce Berserk 2016 as foreshadowing for the fall in this show's animation... |

Although I do expect her to betray Ariel at one point considering what the administrator said, and also the fact that she had her eyes closed and seemed to be almost psychologically sealed/imprisoned when we first saw her. White shouldn't be in quotations, that's her name. well, nickname anyways. And no, she keeps her eyes closed simply because they're freaky and she doesn't like people seeing them. So she just see through her eyelids like a regular person. |

Ok time to post some Anime-LN differences of the content of this episode. - Kunihiko's sword is made with Thunder Dragon pieces and inherited the Thunder attacks. - Asaka's wand is made with Wind Dragon pieces and has the effect of greatly increase the effects of Wind elemental magic. - In the LN Shun is the one that tells Hyrince and Anna about the reincarnations because he doesn't want to keep secrets from them, this makes sense because Anna is essentially Shun's Mother and Hyrince was Julius best fried and almost a bigger brother for Shun. This was supposed to happen before the party enter the Great Elroe Labyrinth. - In the LN Sensei reveals Sophia's identity and the true behind the administrators to Shun & Co in their way through Sariella. - (Skipped scene) There's a scene were Fei finds a group of Elves using Anna as a punching bag. Fei jumps immediately to defend Anna but Anna stops her saying that this the normal relationship between Elves and Half-Elves. - (Skipped scene) Anna's backstory Half Elf born in the Elf Village, she never knew her parents, probably because they committed suicide for bring a Half Elf to the world. Her childhood in Elf Village was full phycological and physical torture. When Anna became a teenager she was exiled of Elf Village and wandered around the world as an adventurer. In one of her joirneys she met the first King of Analeit Kingdom and fell in love with him and for the first time she knew what happiness was. The king offered Anna to go to his Kingdome and become a court mage. Anna dedicated her whole life and respect to the king and the kingdom. In his last days of life, the king asked Anna to protect and raise his newborn son in his sted. It was after this moment that Anma became the caretaker of all the generations of royals of Analeit Kingdom. - (Skipped Scene) Shinohara Mirei's (Fei) morivation to bully Wakaba Hiro Shinohara was liked with an upper classmate for a long time but when she finally got the courage to confess he answered "Sorry, I like Wakaba". Obvious, after that moment Shinohara started to bully Wakaba. This reason quickly changed to fear and anger. No matter what she did to Wakaba, she never showed signs of being annoyed instead she just kept watching Shinohara with a cold and silent gaze as if she was superior. Obviously at this point we know that that face was just Kumoko being totally scared of Human Interaction, whenever she's approached by anyone she totally freeze. Kumoko screaming "leave me alone" and acting funny with the Keren County people is something that the anime added. In the novel she just stand still or scales a tree to get away from them. - (Skipped Scene) Never trust the guy with the closed eyes. Ogi (the boy that asked Katia "why she was so hot") is a memeber of the Kinma Unit of the Word of God Religion. He let himself be captured by the elves to act as a spy and send information directly to the Pope. In this episode he was supposed to poison the food of Kunihiko and Asaka (the adventurer duo). - In the LN Hugo's armor is the one showed in episode 12. That armor is made with unspecified Dragon bones and it's the main culprit of Hugo been immune to Oka's magic. - Hugo's sword is madre from Dark Dragon's pieces and inherited the Dark Breath Attack. - Oka's arrows are enchanted with Wind Magic that make them fly faster, in straight line and give them enough force to go through full armor soldiers. In a nutshell, the arrows basically act as canon balls. - Yuri gaves Oka a full speech about how Elves are evil and they should be send to hell and says to Oka that her soul can still be saved if she's able to endure the trials... Obviously she means torture. - Yuri recieve Oka's arrow and as I mentioned earlier those arrows act more as canon balls, so Yuri ended flying trought the air and with a huge hole in her left shoulder, her arm was basically semi amputated and is barely hold in place by some strings of meat. |

It's a shame that the animation on this show is so bad. As usual, the fights are a confusing mess. Just to name one of the many things, weren't they supposed to fight in a forest? We even see some elves hiding in the trees but all we see during the fight is a wasteland xD. Yuri is so crazy, she doesn't even need Hugo to brainwash her lol. It was hilarious how sensei shot her out of nowhere in the back. Am I crazy or did sensei say to hang on a little longer just before the battle? xD I didn't expect sensei to reveal about the reincarnations to Hyrince and the elf who for some reason is not well liked within her race. Interesting belief of the elves about the gods/administrators but I really don't trust them and honestly, they don't do anything to endear themselves to others as we saw in this episode. It seems that the spider girl commander is the one who deactivated the barrier. Kusama seems like a fun guy and I'm guessing the guy at the end is the last of his classmates. I hope they put at least a little more quality in the fight between Shun and Hugo. Come on Hugo, nobody likes you, die already. |

Based on the title of the episode I fully expected Kumoko (the one we know anyway) would not be in it. There was either no time to include her or simply the focus of the episode was on the present time developments. I think the most impressive thing about Hugo is that he does't seem to have realized that he is just a useful idiot in all this; a mere figurehead. He is so drunk on power though so much that, even if he knew, he might not care. The battle itself was OK but the art of the battle was quite frankly appalling. Most of it was CGI and a very low grade one at that; not Orange level CGI but "Cestvs: The Roman Fighter" level CGI.. :/ Hugo in particular was horribly drawn and animated. I just looked up Millepensee and recalled that they are the ones who did (along with GEMBA) the last two utterly disastrous seasons of Berserk. CGI should always be avoided in anime unless the animators know how to do it right. It appears that the guys of Millepensee have not yet learnt the lessons from their recent Berserk calamity and they keep using CGI (thankfully just for battle sequences...) even though they still lack the expertise to do it right. By the way, I never expected Oka-chan would kill one of her students. That was quite a surprise.. Was Yuri mind controlled or just a fanatic follower of that religion? Before Hugo got that Lust mind controlling skill she was still saying weird shit about believers vs non believers, that people who have taboo skills should be killed etc In that battle she just seemed a little bit more fanatic (and crazy) than she already was.. |

Ok... I'm sure there are people out there who like the other characters and their involvement in the story and whatever. And I'm glad, really, I'm happy you're happy... But I can't be the only one who jumped on this train for the novelty of having a spider protagonist, right? I mean, come on... If I wanted to see every generic iseaki ever, I would literally see any other generic isekai ever. (there are quite a few, btw) Every time an episode centered on the rest of the cast comes along a part of me dies inside. I literally DON'T CARE about any of them. The most charming character of the bunch is... Actually I don't know, because they have no charm to speak of. They could be walking planks of wood with a piece of paper listing the trope they represent and the show wouldn't change in the slightest. And if you want an example of something else deeply wrong with the show, take this episode: decided to do the climax of this little mini ark the teacher character had, but that really doesn't work all that well when it's 2 episodes of ham fisted exposition followed by 2 minutes of fighting! This thing would have been waaayyy better off as a 12 episode show focused on nothing but spider gal doing spider things, instead we got a hot mess of convoluted "storytelling" without even the courtesy of any eye candy to sweeten the pot. This thing had potential, but any and all possible joy it could have produced has been snuffed out by contrive plot points and pointless digressions, and this episode is the PERFECT microcosm of JUST THAT. But whatever, I made it through 21 episodes of this bs, might as well grit my teeth for the final 3. I can promise you that I won't be looking back fondly on this show, though... |

Well the light novels are way better. Freaking cheap made animation by a studio that skips a hell of a lot important stuff to jam everything in 24 episodes which they could have made into a 50+ episode season. As for you guys who says that there was no Kumoko in this episode.... Did you really miss her? She was in this episode. Though no line to say.. sadly enough. I hope this ends with the way it did in the novel; Long time no see, teacher. |

Its always nice to have vets in time of crisis. Their combat skills and intel will be most useful. The elves though sure have a surprising level of arrogance in them though. Surely limiting their enemies entry vectors will be beneficial to the overall defence. Given that the war is almost upon them Filmo's deciding to come clean with the secrets was the best move possible. The strategy meeting though was interesting. Trying to determine whether your previous friends are neutral or enemies in this new world was pretty chilling. Its unfortunate that the elves refusal to seal the barrier allowed the enemy to infiltrate. For Filmo's though having to fight her students on the battlefield has to be the worst situation ever. Yuri though really has gone off at the deep end. Hugo's new skill while boosting his offensive skills massively was also one that complemented his personality pretty well. Looks like its time for the rematch between Hugo and Schlain. Overall a balance ep that combined excellent lore expansion and revelation for Schlain and his team and action via the beginning of the war. |

I am barely tolerating this adaptation... The entire depiction, forget about animation, feels wrong. Where did a desert battlefield come from? Why does Sophia appear smug, not nonchalant? Why is Lady Whitey always depicted like a movie poster viewed from different angles? The human side was actually more interesting for me than whatever Kumo was doing these parts of the novel, because it helped me get more ideas about how the world might work; and simply because their fates would be more interesting than Kumoko's. I mean, who isn't interested regarding how Shun gets his a$$ handed to him? But the anime kinda turned the human side into an eyesore only really serious viewers can salvage. I'll survive to the end somehow. For the love of D, I wouldn't want a second season with this level of commitment. Bless Aoi Yuki though. |

I started this anime precisely because of the spider, however the story and overall plot seemed interesting. But shitstain and his party just became unbearable for me, not the humans themselves, just this side. The demons and monsters are great too. Bladed_Asskicker said: I mean, come on... Even as trope characters, they just fail completely for me. Bladed_Asskicker said: And if you want an example of something else deeply wrong with the show, take this episode: decided to do the climax of this little mini ark the teacher character had, but that really doesn't work all that well when it's 2 episodes of ham fisted exposition followed by 2 minutes of fighting! This thing had potential, but any and all possible joy it could have produced has been snuffed out by contrive plot points and pointless digressions, and this episode is the PERFECT microcosm of JUST THAT. Took me hours to understand the plot, the fact that there are about 3 timelines till about ep 3 and then it's mostly 2 (I think, stopped really caring) + the constant jumping around n stuff... really doesn't help the average anime watcher, and makes a bad case for the anime itself. I skipped around the episode and am rooting for Hugo, but that is about that, don't care about it at all. However, I actually don't agree with the complete separation of everything else besides Kumoko. Because I enjoyed the other aspects of the show, sometimes almost as much as Kumoko's struggles for survival and her just being a funny doofus. Bladed_Asskicker said: But whatever, I made it through 21 episodes of this bs, might as well grit my teeth for the final 3. I can promise you that I won't be looking back fondly on this show, though... Same, 6/10 at best though. Plus considering what I've read and was told about the LN (true and best form to experience the story) and Manga (no Shitstain party and I think barely any humans)... might as well just look for a better story. The fact that the author has it out for the standard isekai hero tropes AND MADE THIS SIDE OF HIS STORY INTENTIONALLY BAD, just makes this a bad story in my opinion... I would understand it if there was heavy character developmnet in relation to Kumoko's struggles and the labyrinth arc, but as I've read, that isn't really the case... Hence, I have to agree that this story is wasted potential. Side note: Funnily enough Kingdom has bad adaptation for 2 out of 3 seasons, but the quality of the story, characters and setting outweighed the bad adaptation for me :D. Plus season 3 is looking like a 10/10. |

No Kumoko - 5/5. Jokes aside, humans' story is still 10 times better than whatever our lovely spider is trying to accomplish. It's not like Kumoko's part is bad or anything, it's sure fun and and have a lot of cool moments, but script wise it's pure garbage most of a time (doesn't mean I don't enjoy it though cause it's comedy gold). So I'm really glad we finally got a full human-episode. I also hope we'll get a second season somewhere in the future. It's obvious that this whole story is just a beginning before the main events. Or it just seems that way. As for new ep - cool fights, intense plot and godawful art. |

Seriously if they gonna CGI both Sophia and Hugo might as well CGI up Oka sensei too, cause she looks so fucking bad. Hugo's action scene is ironically so fucking fluid and nice, the part where he got bombarded with arrows and he reflected all of them was really smooth and fluid. Then everything went derp when things turn to 2D. Pretty good episode storywise, nice follow up from previous episode revolving around Oka but still the same issue of putting out new characters that move the plot but nobody can actually care about because literally zero build up or backstory. Like Shinobu, are we supposed to know who he was previously? And the horn dude at the end of the episode. Probably one of the missing student but who cares at this point. Can't even remember the name if you're not Shun, Fei or Hugo. |
