Was this series really worse enough to the point where it deserved a promised neverland second season treatment?

No. If you’re a fan of the last season this one interest you.

Some people just don’t appreciate the political side to this show and this season focuses more on that. It’s a shame too because a lot of isekai don’t touch much on this aside from the typical monarchy (which really has been used as a sort of blanket statement to the government of a show and not allow a lot of room for complexities that come in a democracy or other such form). Even shows with a similar premise of a large player base gets transported into a game world like hack or SAO don’t touch on this issue from what I’ve seen. If we were all transported into a new world, I think a new government would be necessary and that’s something LH has going for it. I say give it a go.

I have not read any of the log horizon light novels to know how dedicated this show is to those and I have about finished PNL2 and that show isn’t that interesting as its first season.

Oh shut it with the studio biasm, your part of that old generation that thinks any series made by deen is going to have bad aniamtion. S3 animation was great not as great as s1 but better than s2s.

The series is not itself bad it just a few issues that plagued it due to circumstance.

1-IT came out way after s1 and s2 aired, so a lot of people have kind of forgotten the plot and it was not easy to follow as it just jumped straight back into the story.

2-Unlike most of other isekai/mmo stories this one focuses more on the political and world building scenario and that is not something everyone wants, if u notice a lot of people complained about the lack of action and the political dialouge, which i find strange as this series by now has established it's focus is not on the action but the politcal and world building angel.

3-It also does not help that it has so much characthers involved it is hard to keep up with, as it shifts people of focus from one to another and it has so many at this point you can't really keep up.

4-When Log Horizon aired it was back when the isekai boom was still in its infancy the main series it competed back than was SAO and that was not much of a competiton, however since than a lot of other series have aired so the general idea of what a good isekai standards are has changed since than. It did not help it had so much competition this winter that it practically fell out of most people radar.

5-Finally it did not help it did not have a recap to help brush up a few people, this is one of the few series that could of benefited and the fact that quite a number of people jumped into s3 without even watching s1 and s2. i mean really you see s3? without seeing what came before..like cmon. >.>

Bottom line: its a great story but you have to be the type of person who likes slow world building and more focused on the politcal and mmorpgs mechanics anle to truly appreciate it. Also it is the type of show that your better of binge watching from s1 and forward rather than watch it as it airs. So it will give yourself time to process all of it as their is a lot of things you have to absorb and keep up.

I loved season 1. Season 2 i really tried to force myself to go through but i had to drop it halfway through sheer boredom of the plot+pace.

After all of these years, I was really hoping for this season to spark a new light. Unfortunately, as someone mentioned in a review, the politics have to at least be somewhat engaging. Can't say I was engaged at all. Disappointed on my side. Maybe world-building just isn't my cup of tea.

Personally I love Log Horizon and shows that talk about politics and world building. But, to my mind, this season was really poor on this point compared to s1 (or s2). The last part of this season is enjoyable but, feels like a filler or an OAV.
We don't learn that much in this season and the main topic of the season is a bit rushed.

Enjoyable season but I expect more from Log Horizon.

That is bullshit.
This season was weak, very weak and it has nothing to do with it being "political", because it wasn't any more political than any of the other seasons. The problem was a similar problem to the second part of the first season, the focus on the "small" part of the guild.
The younger and lower level players got first introduced to give an easier entry into Log Horizon, but the author clearly wrote himself into a corner by having these 'meh' characters suddenly having a plotline that needed resolving, and that is pretty much what this season did. Resolving the B plotline of the young/low level squad and with that always being the weakest part of Log Horizon a whole season, that wasn't paced well, with the focus on this part, obviously fell flat compared to the main plot.

In fact, we now have like ~30% main plot and ~70% side plot, which is kind of a pacing disaster. The thing that keeps the franchise alive for me (and many others) is the fact that with the ending of this season the main 'problems' around the stupid romance sub plot have been resolved, and we can hopefully finally throw all these B protagonists on the bench and continue with the part people are really here for.
With Kanami and Krusty on the horizon we can finally have some adult characters back on the screen and the overall world picture as the main source of conflict and exploration.

ok but I like the young ones leveling up as well so no it just depends on whether you like the younger characters or not besides they need to level up to become more useful in battle and if you forgotten at the end of season 2 it is Shiroe goal to be able to go to both worlds so if the young ones level up and want to stay their the adults don’t have to worry because since you don’t like them you probably didn’t know but Toya is paralyzed in the real world and it seems that if their is to be more romance Isuzu would have to stay if she wants to be with Rudy since he is still technically only alive in Elder Tale so Shiroe has other reasons to really think about how to think about problems so might as well prepare for future problems such as what’s has happened at the final battle of season 3 and my point with all of this is that it is necessary to complete the overall goal

Lmao “that is bullshit,” what a funny comment 😂😂

I mean, sure you can see it as that, but we both know many others (the majority) of people who didn’t like this season didn’t care for the direction this show was heading.

If I may, the side plots are fitting given that it’s an MMORPG which generally have a lot of side quests, which I consider a part of the experience of LH.

As a big fan of this series, I would say yes. I appreciate the earlier 'political' Arc which executed an interesting idea on that voting day (using the transportation gate) but it went downhill afterwards. Not really that 'steep' downhill but just less exciting than I expected. The last episode also felt really dull since I would say that they failed to show how sad Minori was. The 'feelings' delivery for us viewers is just not there.

The story also almost didn't progressing forward pretty much. Big events that happened (for me) was only the 'Earlier Arc in Political department' and 'Raid in Akiba'. And instead using the 'strategic' formula to win the big battles as the key for winning like all of the previous installments, it instead used this 'power of bonds' to push this kids troupe. Which I would say... maybe lame? Or was it not since it fits for the kids troupe? Idk.

To me the worst part of this season is that, with only 12 episodes, we lost a few focusing in the youngest ones, that I personally don't really care about (just as I didn't in the 2nd season), with a raid that I feel didn't had so much relevance. At least we had the good ship sailing and the bad one sinking.

That said, maybe it's the years that my view on anime changed, but I feel like overall it was kinda boring, and I really liked the last two.

Ok, sure you can say you didn't dislike the small ones and their storyline, but nobody can tell me their part was the better part of the story as a whole.
I disagree that they needed that arc to become useful, to be honest they never needed to be useful in the first place. They could have stayed in the background just a reminder that kids also got into this mess, and they might understand the situation a bit different, there never was any reason for them to become more relevant apart from the tutorial character they fulfilled early on.
Nobody can tell me they liked the whole child loving their teacher romance stuff, or the obnoxious power of friendship stuff that has little place in a usually so strategically developed story and those are unfortunately the parts we got the most in this season.
The best thing about this season was that some of the most obnoxious stuff got resolved, so that we hopefully will never go back to it again (done and dusted).

It remind me how some arcs can be really boring. The weakest season so fa, but yeah more enjoyable than Re Zero.

By the way it is imposible to run an election whithin a week; something like 6 months of preparation, specially when there are no law that stablishes the rules of the election.

Also the simple idea on stablishing a democratic election is a direct threat to a government like Monarchy and could lead directly to civil war, I personally dont like when in serie with a Monarchist government suddenly implements a democratic election and all the nobles are just fine with that, it doesnt feel logical.

Yep, totally.

Despite being a fantasy anime wiht MMORPG settings, the first 5 episode went 100% political and slice of life with no battles at all, I don't dislike politics in anime but that was kinda way too much.

...and then random experiences with Krusty whatsoever, and then this final episode...Akatsuki and those two sisters preached loudly and tried to talk no jutsu some raid inhuman monster? really now? Even some of the worst SAO parts are better than this.

Oh and finally, boring taste of Shiroe, thought he was talking about Kanami or someone we dont know yet when he said he is in love...nopee....boring choice :p

As someone who really loved Log Horizon S1, I say this season is disappointing.

well actually I do get their I see where your coming from and I’m really not a big fan the student love for the teacher but for Rudy he is a person of the land and he is my favorite character and no I would not say it’s as important to the main story but I do think it makes it better I just want to understand what is so annoying about them in particular Rudy, Toya, and Isuzu cause I can see how minori and serara can be annoying but why the other 3 I just want to see where the other side is coming from.

ok first off you are right i didn’t like the student liking the teacher also no it’s not better to the overall story I just think it’s a enhancement to it and my favorite character is Rudy he is a kid but he is also a person of the land and idk he just clicks with me but what about season 1 and his role also I think having their students for the most part is really endearing it shows they care and that it’s not just a game I just think it’s cool especially Rudy for reference my favorites go 1. Rudy 2. Shiroe 3. Akatsuki 4. Toya. 5. Nyanta so 2 of the kids are in my top 5 and all the other important one are in my top 10 my point is I don’t know what’s annoying about them

I think the idea of agriculture, rebuilding civilization, fantasy adventuring and politics are a fresh combination. But the novelty wore off at some point. Now anime like "Shingeki no Kyoujin" and "Honzuki no Gekokujou" are the direction in which I see the most promice.

Was I bored, not especially. I think I liked this a little more than Dr. Stone s2, to be honest. With Dr. Stone I found myself feeling disappointed, while Log Horizon made me feel a sence of anticipation.

I kinda need to let this out but I feel so disturbed with Log Horizon story.. I don't know if the Novel have different story, I don't read it tho, so let's just talk about the Anime..

I think it was such a shame that Log Horizon story isn't always in serious mode.. well we all need some humor but that wasn't a humor at all.. I especially hate everytime it shows Minori's group like wtf are these children doing?? This is more like political story inside a game, we don't need you all.. why they have to be on so much screen time? I was kinda hope this should be more focuses on Yamato's political and reunion of tea party, but no.. Log Horizon Guild is only filled with bunch of kids and a weirdo Idol.. oh and I really hate everytime Akatsuki look so clingy like damn, what a waste, what is this chibi doing?...

This could be such a great story about Isekai or Game story.. everytime I see Shiroe's genius strategy, kinda remind me of Lelouch in code geass, and that was a great anime without bunch of kids and cringe humor and cheap romance.. the only moments in Log Horizon that was good is when shiroe bought the Guild Building Zone and created the Round table, also when he and Naotsugu and Silver Swords did the Full Raid and defeated it..

All things about cringe chibi assassin and Minori's group is nothing but a waste filler.. even as the filler it was so bad I always skipped it..

Seriously guys, this is my own opinion.. I personally like the concept of the story, it so good and feel so different like another Isekai or game storyline.. if ONLY the story could be more serious and don't involved useless children and clingy assassin, it would be great that I will watched it many times..

Sorry, but I just need to let it out. Stop with the children's screen time, throw out Akatsuki.. more focuses on how shiroe deal with Yamato's political and of course the reunion of Debauchery Tea Party.

That's it.
