Official Princess Principal Twitter account announces that the sequel movie to Crown Handler 1 will release in Fall 2021. Studio Actas returns once again to animate the next movie in its franchise.

This is great that we already got a confirmed date of a sort. Haven't seen the first movie yet, but hyped as always.

Edit: Japan theatrical release on September 23rd.

You think that it was fast because Part 1 just aired in Japan theaters today(February 11, 2021). If it was aired as intended on April 21, 2020, you'll be waiting for 1 year+(depends on when Part 2 will aired in Fall 2021(either September, October or November). Pretty sure that after Part 2, you'll be waiting the same as with Das Finale. Also, Actas is a studio that is not associated with the word fast. If they tried fast, it will be hampered with production issues/delays.

Welp, I’m in it for the long haul. The first film being solid and having some clear thematic focus gives me hope that the rest of the series will deliver. It’ll probably take a couple of years before we see the series actually end, but that’s alright.

ONLY 46 theaters nationwide in Japan? oh boyo, i HOPE that goes way WAY up! or they're not going to make enough money with the theatrical release to turn a profit. if that happens, the DVD/BR MSRP will have to go up and the future streaming rights cost will have to go up as well.

let's all hope that Japan's covid vaccination rates increase by the end of Sept. because that will mean more butts in the theater seats and more Yen in ticket sales.

just counted that out in weeks between Sept 23 and Christmas week in Dec. 13 weeks, whew! that's gonna be a tight one if they're thinking of putting out a DVD/BR in time for Xmas shoppers.

Well, Crown Handler Part 1 was released also in 46 Japan theaters last February 11, 2021. It didn't rank in the Japan Box Office during that time. I think the producers had already some expectations what the box office sales will be. We'll just have to wait and see if there will be some change. Also it was playing during the time Demon Slayer was dominating the Japan Box Office. It's just that Princess Principal is a niche anime that will attract a certain group of audience.

yeah when i think of the longest theatrical release to DVD/BR release gap for an anime movie in Japan two titles come to mind. 1st was 'Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata Fine'. it opened in theaters Oct. 26, 2019 and the disks didn't come out till Sept. 23, 2020. although i'd have to do the exact maths but the 2nd title i think of is 'Violet Evergarden Movie'. the one that got delayed due to the KyoAni arson was in theaters Sep. 18, 2020 and the disks won't allegedly be out till Aug. 4, 2021. i know counting the months off isn't exact but the two are pretty close to each-other at 11 months. 'Fine' was the conclusion to a 2 season TV show and we all know how popular 'Violet' is. :D 'Fine' was so popular in theaters the number of venues was expanded twice and the theatrical run was extended for 9 weeks. i personally haven't read much about the 'Violet' movie.

yeah, i doubt any title anytime soon is going to top DemonSlayer's movie. i mean what did i read? 800,000 disks sold in the opening weekend of sales?

mhm i agree, 'Princess' is pretty niche, but to create and announce a six movie plan based on a singular TV season that's all original/no source material? pretty ambitious! :D
