| Harada doesn’t give up. He knew he had a chance to come back from this, he knew that east won and lost with that win if they got an uradora. And thus, the crafty bastard went in to ensure this fate. But Ten, as aware as ever, caught him in his act, as manly as ever he told him to stay away from the tiles. He proceeded to flip the uradora with one finger, with no cheating involved, yet again an uradora flip that decides fate. With a huge spread of everyone involved and all the tension in the world built into this flip of a tile, this pattern is starting to feel like a cornerstone of mahjong tension. As fate had it, the 1-sou was uradora and east did not win. Rather, Harada made a proposition, this cannot end in a tie so instead they shall do a short tiebreaker. This time however, not ordinary mahjong, but 2-player mahjong with only the tiger and the dragon. I seem to recall a certain 2 player mahjong in the Fukumoto series Kaiji under the name minefield mahjong. This should be interesting to see Ten’s approach to this. But more importantly, I found Harada’s words interesting. Let’s settle it between just the two of us! The east-west battle began to correct the balance between the underworld pro players of east and west… but now, I don’t even care about that. More importantly, I want to beat you..! We’ll settle it between the two of us! I pinned Harada as a stone cold pragmatist, so I have to question if he really did form a personal drive to take Ten down like this. He made it sound like the goal is not to win for west but to beat Ten Takashi. It made me think back to their first interactions, when Ten tried to hide his power level while eying Harada across the room but Harada got the data regardless. Truthfully, his words back then didn’t seem so different.You might think the east players are garbage, all talk and no action, but that’s not the case at all. Oh well… it wouldn’t be fun if none of their players had some spirit. It’ll be good. The east west showdown this time. I’ll take him down. Even back then I got the mixed vibe that he used mahjong as a means and an end, that he would bribe and pay off, or hurt others and cheat to win, but he’s always been eager to face off against someone of Ten’s caliber. As the symbolic tiger and dragon, maybe he respects him. That said, I’m sure Harada is going to go into this with that mentality, that if he can, this won’t be a fair match. |
| Ok, so it seems like I forgot about some of those additional yaku lol. I am glad we get to see more action between those two though! It's definitely been a wild ride so far. And I am curious to see the rules of this 2-player-Mahjong showdown! |
