This was incredible. A case study on effective tension and metaphor, which I suppose is the Fukumoto classic, something I should never doubt. We started with west picking up on what was happening and frantically trying to stop it. Luckily however, Mitsui was stubborn, he believed that he could hold out rather than sacrifice himself. The betrayal shows me that it’s definitely fruitful for an individual to win this rather than that being an extension of their team but more importantly it set a timer on this chapter. As soon as Soga came in, Ten would lose his chance. Which is what made Ten’s words for Akagi chilling. In a casual manner, Ten warns Akagi for what he is about to do, and Akagi shows much faith to laugh and let him run with it.

Now that was awesome already but what then occurred was a head to head with Akutsu, back and forth draws to see who won, both sides frantic as this is the moment that will turn the tides. And we went until the very end. We got an action shot which resulted in nothing making us anticipate more and more until the final possible draw. And that was when we cut to the metaphorical dragon which burrowed, letting a win pass it by, so that it could crash out, tearing through the ground, and cutting through bone. That’s such a striking way to think of a hand and a story to go with such a drastic change. With that final blow built up and drawn out, we got a hit even better than I’d wanted. Akutsu and Mitsui are both out! The game is in east’s favour and west’s strategy since Ginji went out is no longer functional.

The huge moments of this battle have not disappointed, in fact they have been incredible. The battle between Ginji and Harada ending with countering his ganpai and taking him out in one blow and now this dragon crashing from the heavens into the underground only to crack through the ground once more, taking Akutsu and Mitsui out. All made better from the strategies which precede and provoke them.

Aww heck yeah, Akagi and Ten managed to create an awesome hand and take out two opponents in one swoop with my favorite Yakuman! If anyone wonders, Suuankou is my favorite simply because it's the only one I ever get haha. I only managed to get Kokushi Musou once because I asked my mom to deal in, so I could have the experience of it once lol
