| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Well, this first episode if compare with the original of series is an expanded version where we enjoy the OP, not included in the other, also a new sequences .... how the guys/flyers behind the scenes when the singer arrives and Sheryl gets angry because he thinks they're bullies or something, .... another scene is the accident in the middle of the concert when Alto crash with the singer, but it ends up resolving itself as part of the show a two more if I am not mistaken. Is better? Yes, expanda the first episode and did it more consistent!!!! |
| Apparently there're 3 versions of the 1st episode... there's also a "Yack deculture" edition That monster inside the "colony" looked like something straight from a kaijuu movie. Sheryl Nome seems to be related to Mao from Macross Zero! Her granddaugher, probably. Though she doesn't seem to have a very good personality so far (she looks arrogant, but at least she likes strawberry pies!). Interesting approach to a concert by the way, so many changing costumes (which are pretty....revealing, I'd say), probably inspired by Sharon Apple. Also there was Eden on the map :p Speaking of maps, I really enjoyed all the details on the screens and so on. Cool. And many new technological things were introduced as parts of the world. I appreciate all these callbacks to the original series, and pretty much every important character got some screentime, I think. Ranka is adorable (as well as her phone thingy), though I didn't think that *that* Nyan-Nyan scene I've seen long ago was in the very first episode. By the way, did she...move her hair after learning of Sheryl's concert?? Oh, and it's nice that she wore a China dress...just like Minmay Mikhail seems to be partially Zolan, partially Zentradi, because they're incompatible with humans (judging by his ears). Macross wiki confirms that. The movements he and the others were making while training were taken from Macross Plus :p Ai Oboete Imasuka during the ED, yesss P.S. That scene with Sheryl's breast "adjusting" to a change of gravity... xD P.P.S. The blend of 2D and 3D animation looked pretty good actually (well, aside from asteroids), which is pretty rare for that era (I think) |
