I may be in the minority who disliked this film but can we talk about how it broke cannon? I'm caught up on the manga so I know what's coming but besides pointless spoilers it broke it's own lore.

1: It took Deku hours to inherit All for One. This is why Deku coildnt practice the quirk at all before the exam. Also Bakugo didnt keep the quirk because of a "maricale" is a modern day Deus ex Machina. Also how is everyone using All for One 100% all of a sudden? Deku needed Eri's quirk to do it, and Bakugo is using the quirk for the first time. Both of should have been gravely injured or died.

2: Why does class 1-A know about All for One and his quirk stealing? I don't think this was ever made public but when its mentioned to them Tsu thinks to herself "that's just like All for One". As far as I can tell, they should have no way of knowing this information. So why? I'm honestly confused.

3: Why does Deku go back to state-themed smash? This one is more or an insult but it's still true. Deku hasn't done this in a long time and it was one if his road blocks, focusing too much in being All Might rather than being his own hero. This movie takes place after season 5 and its insulting and baffling to see this regression.

Also I can't go into detail that Deku isnt using all of One of All for manga spoilers

This is all I can think of but I'm sure there is more. Also what happened to mummy? Was he moved to climax island? I'm surprised the villains didnt just free him. Tbh, I don't even remember Slice being defeated so maybe my brain is missing a few screws

Well, it's hard to explain this one, but I'd say the quick passed faster because Bakugo got Deku's blood in him, which might have accelerated the process. Most likely thou it was just a Deus. Still, there's nowhere in the manga saying how long it takes. That's just my guess.

I'd say they were pretty injured, just remember they've trained more scenes that day, so most likely the 2 did not take as much damage.

Well, they did see him fighting on TV and using more than one quirk at a time, so it could have just been something that was reported off-screen and they just found out later. Plus a pro hero did lose her quirk, so it was most likely reported on, but never shown.

Deku never stopped calling attacks by States. Most likely he just hasn't used one of those in a long time, but he still does it. The roadblock was more of his fighting style, not his name-calling. In the battle with Gentle, he called one an attack St. Louis Smash.

This movie most likely takes place after season 4, not season 5. If it was 5 he would have had his other power, but he didn't use it. Still, it's hard to say when any anime movie takes place, so it could be debated.

Mummy was captured and left in the boiler room, as we see guards taking him away at the end of the movie. Most likely the villains didn't look for him as they didn't have a lot of time to waste. Most likely they would free him after the job is done.

Slice was battling Tokoyami and Mina and was buried under some rubble.

I really enjoyed the movie, but even I had the same questions, especially the first one. Why is it that it took Deku months and months of training to learn how use just a small percent of his quirk, yet Bakugou just automatically knows how to use it at 100%, sure, he broke his arms but it just doesn't make sense for him to have mastered it immediately.

Well I mean, Deku was a twig before going on the All American Dream Plan*. Bakugo is ripped asf and his body is use to taking blasts and the stress of his own quirk. He didn’t technically “master” it, he just used it at 100%, which doesn’t require mastery but sacrificing body parts. Had Bakugo been given the quirk under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t be able to go 5%, 8%, or 20% like Deku ATM.

Also, i like how absolutely nobody took on the fact that there were literally spoilers for Tokoyami's ability to fly. Anyone even know that Tokoyami could fly??? Nobody did because its still not revealed yet.

Well bakugo is way stronger then Deku was when he first got it and it's just a power enhancing quirk. He just used it to strengthen his blows and explosions nothing to fancy or skillful.

And my theory is that towards the end of the manga One for all is going to advance and Deky will have the ability to share it with others. Like the reverse of All for One. At least temporarily like in this movie. I think this is foreshadowing for the ending. I read this movie was based on The initial idea for the ending

I totally agree, as a manga reader it feels like it's a bit of a 'waaat' and undermining the long process that's still to come for all the characters. BUT, that said, I still enjoyed the movie, because I have been in the detective conan fandom longer than any other, and you learn something when you get to your 24th side movie, and that is, fck canon, movies are pocket dimensions where everything and anything can happen and it will have no consequence whatsoever on the future, so sit back and just enjoy the ride. XD

Wasnt this entire movie a scrapped ending to the manga? Does it matter if it breaks canon? It was scrapped for a reason...

I don't believe the movie broke any canon. Did it stretch a couple things and you kind of have to go with the flow, but everything that happened still fits in the series canon.
1. There's a lot of debate of how this happened, but an explination that I use is that they weren't actually using 100%. Kind of. Because Deku passed the quirk, it is now split in half, meaning 100% to them at that moment was actually the same power as 50% but it was technically 100% because they only have access to 50% each. idk if I explained it exactly right but I hope you understand lol.

2. In episode 24 of Season 4, the pussycats talk to the students about All For One and how he'll "return" the quirk he stole, but he'll have to use his quirk in order to do so. I think they all know about All For One's quirk stealing.

3. If you look at the series past the last time he's had to use a state attack (Festival arc), he really hasn't needed to use it since. Every other arc since then has either been training or not about him. I'm expecting to see him use a state attack sometime this arc. If he ever shows up that is lol!

And about Deku not using all of One For All, with evidence we know that this movie takes place after season 5, but before season 6. So why didn't he use... how do I word this without spoiling... Why didn't he use One For All to the fullest extent? I think its simply that he didn't know how to use it enough at that point to risk injuring anyone/himself in the batte.

This movie takes place between MVA and EA, Deku is barely able to summon [redacted] not to mention actually using it.

Jeez, it's like almost every person in the comments has never seen a shounen film before. Nothing is cannon in them unless the author says so. Do you know how many Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach, and numerous other films from series break from cannon with their own special universe? Almost all of them.

Been complety honest, most movies in shonnen are out of the cannon of the manga, so trying to been really nitpicky about it is kinda excesive. In the first movie that was not the case, because they had enough time and space to make clear where does it fit and why it doesnt affect the rest of the story.
If you are trying to set a time frame for this movie is after Overhaul but before Endeavour/Hawks arc, after all, he doesnt have the scar yet. It cannot take during Season 5.
I do think is kinda weird that Deku didnt lost his quirk (i thought that Bakugo will give him back or something, not sure if that is even possible for sure) but i like everything else and make sense to be honest.

Edit: i just notice that he has the scar, so this should take just after season 4

You have a good point and i agree with the examples. However, with Bnha it's been a bit more complicated. There are times when there have been canon moments in the first movie, the All Might's past for example. Horikoshi made custom chapters for it, so i suppose that can be considered canon.

But with this particular movie, did the author make any statements? I don't know really. I haven't followed the series that much anymore. I really hope this is not canon though. Especially the last 15 minutes or so of Bakugo having a power boost. Ugh.

Yeah you're right. Reading more on it even makes it seem more confusing since there is a scene where Bakugo remembers nine in the manga which could be a promo for the movie or just not. To me it seems like a oneshot by the author where it's a giant what if scenario but could hint at things down the line.

Nine was mentioned in the manga and Bakugo remembered him? I didn't know that. Now that I think about it I remember there was a picture of Nine in some panel along with some other villains but that was it.. I didn't know someone recognised him

There's very little reason to care tbh, the movie is not supposed to be canon, and if it is then the story is just completly fucked up.

Let the movie exist inside its little parralel universe, seing Bakugo with OFA is hype as fuck but isn't even close to be earned at this point in the manga.
It's a very well done action flick for the fans who can make a difference between compelling writing and fan-service and that's about it, it doesn't need nor SHOULD be more than that.

I think so, but don't worry, there aren't spoilers. It's your typical shounen movie, created to milk the franchise a little more.

pretty sure this isn't cannon, also this was apparently an idea horikoshi had for the actual ending so i guess you can see it as its own universe, i enjoyed the movie for what it is, personally don't really care how it fits into cannon (because it doesn't anyway).
