Manga Readers please tell me if it's just fun based relationship between the two or progresses towards romance ?
If romance , then would we reach that point within 12 episode ?

She's a bit narcissistic and hes dense as a brick. They look like a couple to everyone else, but she sees it as shes hanging with a loner who couldn't live without her and he kind of view her as a friend but very intrusive and obnoxious when he wants to be left alone at times.

A couple of the characters are trying to push them together. They've made a little progress in the later chapters but I don't think the anime will get to it. There is a couple of cute moments in between the humor.

They are pushing them trying to become a couple in the manga recently but the anime won't get that far.

Btw is the manga constantly funny or does it get a bit repetitive ? ( I dropped takagi- San for that reason )

Both of them aren't about story since they are slice of life and Takagi-san is about random moments of life of married couple when they were in middle school.

Episodes 8, 9 and 10 do show some snippets of progress, but indeed very thin. I think we will get a season 2, showing some progress, like chapter 42 (?) and 55. Some suggested to have them confess in the last chapter of volume 6, and then they start to ship Ami and Sakaki, as sort of revenge.

Meanwhile I went ahead in a fanfic story, making Uzaki and Sakurai 'canon' (at least in fiction about fiction aka my imagination)

Let's hope episode 12 will be as wholesome as episode 8, my fav so far

Of course they will, it's clear and obvious because it's the core of the story.
Slowly but surely they're getting more conscious of themselves together and their love.

They'll become a couple eventually. Sooner or later, and they're getting more and more conscious of it in the coming chapters since Chapter 33 (58 at the moment).

Well actually I wanted to know if it'd focus more on romance by the end of this season and focus less on Comedy part.
( Like latest chapter of kaguya sama manga )

Ah. It's not exact romance yet since they're only now slowly conscious and anxious of themselves as a would-be-couple from other people but.
While Uzaki is now delusional into thinking that Sakurai likes her as pride, Sakurai is now conflicted of her smiling from their affinity level (C. 41). His awareness of them being lovers is worrying him at this point of the latest chapters.

There's still a lot of comedy but there's a few great slow developments of their love heating into eventual preparation to start until they're fully conscious and accepting or rather aware of their feelings for each other.

... I might be willing to share mild spoilers in breakdown of those chapters... but it'd arguably waste me a bit of time.
It certainly starts to pick up a tiny bit after the last episode (Chapter 34) because that's the first moment she thinks he likes her, while Sakaki (C. 44) is now pressuring her to make a move which is what finally starts their slow development into eventual realization ... which hasn't happened, just yet, in the manga with 58 chapters at the moment.

I wasn't expecting chapter 58 to be there so soon. I do like that the story now focuses again on the main characters.
