----------------------------------------
This arc gives me feelings which it’s hard to put words to. It’s really Fukumoto. When it comes to manga, or even anime, I’ve never seen anything like it. All we need is two rooms, a hallway, and a handful of characters. Seeing them discuss such heavy topics, and show so many sides of themselves. It’s something special, that’s what I can say.

Harada, understanding the seriousness of Akagi’s stance, and respecting his word, told everyone to leave. Urging Akagi to think about the indistinguishable desire to live that we all share. Through this we’re seeing quite the delicate side to this yakuza. A few days ago I was thinking about how I don’t view Harada as a villain but rather I view him solely as an antagonist. He was the hero to west and he was just trying his best. He always felt human and here, more than ever. He reminds me of one of my favorite Shinjuku Swan characters who coincidentally was put in a similar situation to this one. The feeling of someone who may be forceful, but peering into their head, not knowing exactly what’s going on, but seeing something emerge. It’s nice.

Akagi ended up stating that he doesn’t like getting hurt or bleeding as surprising as that may be lolol, and ultimately that he does want to live, in fact “3%” of him does. He put a number to it but I suppose the importance is that it’s more than the 1% Harada speculated. Even for Akagi, it’s not so easy to die, and that is the taste of death, preparing for it anyways…
