I honestly don't know what to expect out of this new series' first volume aside from some more conclusive aftermath of NT so I'm glad that I've seen more than that. To start first, now that the new Railgun anime is airing, I thought it was cool as well that the chapter started with the Tokiwadai girls, it was a funny contrast of what their current status are.

The plot this time is quite relatively simple and I felt its quite a fit actually for a starter, just make it a simple science vs magic. But to frank, Touma is a superman in this round, I'm not even surprised his first enemy questioned his mortality.

What was really the most surprising here was Accelerator's determination. I didn't doubt that he can gradually removed the dark side but who would have thought he's gonna eliminate himself first in the process. I certainly did not see that one coming, a new windowless building for the new board chairman, a prison. Well he still have the demon by his side and he's one of the protagonist so I don't think he'll remain for that long in the dark.

As for the last part, it's a bit weird to me, at least for now, that magic is taking a modern approach by spreading it in the internet. I still don't know where Anna's plan is heading to so I'll just wait with my curiosity. And that kiss though........ I thought it's an alien thing for this series and something like that can never happened, especially not first with the newest character.

Gotta look forward how everyone will react with this newfound enemy.

So we finally hit Christmas! Can't believe how Misaka and Misaki planned this back in volume 11 and we now get to it, just goes to show how tightly all the events occur

But I'm glad to have Touma and co back! I loved the cover

Well there's a bunch of girls that like Touma but dont do shit and then we get a enemy kissing him. You just know Misaka is gonna fry him with her lightning.....

I was so excited for the new series since i read the whole NT from July to december so i waited only 2 months for this volume (compared to long time fans that wait each volume for 4 months this was nothing).

It was nice to see Misaka and Touma (and Index) just having fun playing darts but it didnt last long. Spreading the magic by internet corporations seems like an interesting idea, cant wait to see how it will all unfold.

Also Accelerator in a suit looks soooo cool....

I think that's what she wants to do as well but who knows what sort of drug Anna directly gave to Touma that will make Misaka have second thoughts snapping on him.

I had little exceptions in going in to this volume; mainly because I wasn't sure what Kamachi would do to start off the 3rd series with.

What we got was probably one of the craziest Christmas Eve that I have ever heard. The Accelerator stuff and the darts scene might be the thing that made me like what was an alright volume.

Wonder what the 2nd volume will bring us.

Now that you mentioned it, you're right. It really is possible to target even new readers with this volume, they just have to at least watch the anime.

It's gonna take a while, it's still in the middle of the queue which is still more than 3000 entries.

Looking back at NT22R's volume, Aiwass and Anna Sprengel discuss both the St. Germain pill and Touma's magic & science based memory loss in Chapter 2 - Between the lines 2.

The fact that Anna puts a black pill on her lips and kisses him with it, but also calls Touma her 'amnesiac' enemy, I can't help but think that this could bring back his memories.

As for whether they'd work with the science-based memories which occurred with Misaki remains to be seen. If the theory is true, I hope it targets both types of memory loss that Touma has.

Also curious to know Maidono's real name and how she really looks.

What Accelerator sets out to do is pretty damn bold, which obviously many of the members of the board of directors would be against. Lucky though that he at least has Oyafune Monaka and Kaizumi Tsugutoshi (who has Seria Kumokawa as his brain/advisor or whatever) on his side. After all, they've both been working on dismantling any plans the dark side manages to conjure up. Ex: Volume 7 - Agitate Halation Project

First volume for GT overall was pretty decent, but I wish Mikoto fought a bit more here, at least against Maidono.

5 months passed actually lol.

Well, at least Toaru is still better than Pokemon which none of it's characters ever aged up (Let alone about the amount of months has passed) after 20 years of airing on TV lol.

I finally caught up. This is the longest time I had to spend reading to catch up to the latest volume.

Now, goodbye New Testament, hello Genesis Testament. Honestly, why name it like that? Sure it sounds cool and so is the acronym but it's just the same as Old Testament.

Christmas Eve started and yeah, there's not a dull moment in Academy City. That has got to be one of the craziest Christmas I've seen. After that war in London, the gang has finally returned to Academy City and start celebrating. I wish I get to see what Hamazura and Item were doing. Touma's Christmas was disastrous as always. Misfortune even at this time of the year. Now he's gonna spend Christmas in the hospital, what a surprise. Accelerator's Christmas was depressing.

Speaking of Accelerator, he's now the new Board Chairman and first order of business is to eliminate the Dark Side and himself. Like Kamachi said in the Afterword, he'll definitely do that first thing when he becomes Board Chairman. The guilt he felt killing those Sisters and causing a ruckus in the Dark Side was incredibly strong that he would lock himself in prison and rot to atone for his sins.

The fight with Maidono was lit. I think she's OP as hell even with just those index fingers. She would be a Level 5 if it wasn't for that handicap. Interesting character, just like Touma, would like to see more of her in the future.

Now the big baddie, Neoka. I get what you're saying, but the Dark Side is still the Dark Side. You experiment on people and even killing some and protecting it isn't enough to justify that what you're doing isn't the right thing. He has magic powers in Gakuen Toshi, huraah. I really hate people who picks up a new fad and think that they know it all. This reminds of The Breaker: New Waves where people joined the Murim but they have no idea what they're doing, just like him. It's like someone who've watched all of the Raildex anime and think they know it all arguing with someone who've read the light novel, so meta.

Whatever R&C Occultics is doing is sure is making a massive dent in the magic side. Look, I don't want people to discover something that is a secret. It's like finding a neat place only you know then later someone's chilling there too, it ruins the fun. Espers will die when they use magic so I really wish they put a stop it. The world will never be ready for magic.

Othinus is something. How'd she manage to hide inside Kamijou with all the shit he's been doing the entire day? But at least I got to see best girl. I find it hilarious how she can be one of Touma's effective gear just by tapping his shoulder and let stimulus do the work and breaking down someone's mental state. OP and OTP pair.

I already expected that Anna was gonna be GTs villain but I didn't expect that she's the one who started R&C, or at least be a big part of it. It doesn't fit her character. And I absolutely didn't expect the end. Memories have been a theme in the past volumes especially Reverse with Shokuhou and Kamijou's reason to fight Kamijou no Touma. This was also apparent during his fight with Maidono, and now the end. Anna told him that he's her "amnesiac" enemy and that pill did something to his brain, it's hinting that his memories might return but who knows? That's just my interpretation. Everyone knows that Kamachi likes to make his favorite characters suffer like someone with honey blonde hair and large boobs.

And no, I don't believe what @Zaphkiel_El_Rem and @Zealotic said that this book is possible to target new viewers, even if they've watched the anime. There are a ton of elements introduced in New Testament that were brought over in GT like Othinus, Anna, Seria, Accelerator being the board chairman and the entirety of NT 18 - NT 22R. And this is just volume one, there are still more to cover and I assure you Kamachi will bring up past events that happened in New Testament. But I do agree that they need to add this in the database.

Wooh, this took me 45 minutes to write. I also got unlucky and exited without copying and pasting, I had to redo the first half. Anyway, those are my thoughts for now. See you in July.

Pretty solid volume that shows the core of what Index is as a whole, so good start. Epic fights involving magic and science, having Touma deal with an esper, and then a "magician". Of course it isn't complete without Touma going into lecture mode and having to punch a girl and then a dude after saying he's going to destroy their illusions lol. Also eager to see what Accelerator does with AC while remaining behind bars.

It was a fun read overall though. Looking forward to GT2.

Also, ty Kamachi 🙏 for having 10032 involved in this arc, she's just pure cuteness.
