THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Both of those dreams Jim had were zany and strange. Both have a jolly tone, but both end up with Jim falling...

Ooooooh, so I wonder what John Silver is up to?

That mutiny with the turtle race was not something I expected.

John Silvers scene in the sunset had an interesting tone. Very much like a Western.

They arrived at Treasure Island already?

Yar!

So he was the famed one-legged man after all. I wonder where things will go from now on, will Jim just pretend not to know?
I probably regret this post by now.

I already knew John Silver was the dreaded pirate leader, but I still wished it wasn't. He is an awesome character.

Well no surprise there, the interesting thing will be to see if in the end Silver will really betray them or not, maybe he's taken a liking to Jim too much and spare the crew atleast.

Yeah.. they made it kinda obvious Silver was indeed the pirate Billy was talking about.
Poor Jim that must hurt alot, Silver was pretty much his hero :(
I'm expecting Silver to not be a bad guy after all, or he has some reason for doing this/ He will become a good guy because he likes Jim alot.

It would've been a nice reveal if MAL had another synopsis.

Anyway, poor Jim,getting deceived like that is terrible.

Without surprise it is revealed that John is the feared one legged man.
They're arriving to the treasure island, hope the anime will improve with that because I'm not very convinced yet

I seriously wonder if Silver is really the one legged bastard Billy was so pissing his pants to? Since he has laid his plans with this voyage, and everything suspicious is pointing towards towards him right now. So obviously he's the one.

Can't wait what Jim is going to do after they dock on land!

In the novel what Jim overhears in the apple barrel is the first indication that Silver has been dishonest with him. I’m ambivalent about this series including stuff like Silver apparently murdering Mr. Arrow (it doesn’t seem in doubt now!) as I wonder if it made him too suspicious before what’s supposed to be a shocking reveal in the apple barrel scene. The deception with the turtle race does something to tip things the other way before the reveal, though. The book is also much less explicit about Jim’s feelings during this; I think Robert Louis Stevenson may have wanted the reader (expected to be a boy about Jim’s age) to have his own opinion about this twist without a direct description.

The apple barrel itself is a little different in the novel; there it’s not described as a sailor’s tradition to prevent scurvy, but something arranged by Trelawney for the crew which Smollett thinks is unwisely indulgent towards them. That the pirates are discussing betraying the man who gave them such a treat around near the barrel itself underscores their ungracious and evil natures.

In the novel, Jim's lucky salvation from discovery happens not because the ship is nearing the island but because one of the other pirates suggests Silver having some rum instead of an apple; another little effort in the book's anti-alcohol posture.

Now that Silver's true colors seem revealed, it rather implies that Black Dog was actually a comrade of his. The chase and fight Silver has with him in episode 6 seem awfully violent for what's perhaps supposed to be a phony show between allies to dissuade Jim's suspicions. In the novel it’s much simpler; Black Dog just runs out of Silver’s pub and “gets away” and Silver loudly proclaims that he had never seen the man before. Black Dog can't have come on the voyage because Jim recognizes him so I suppose he's already out of the story for good.
