I loved it as a kid, I rewatched years ago, and finally again this month and really it is just bad.

It could have been awesome, the base idea is pretty cool, but the way it is played is pretty lame, we feel that there was no real plan, everything was just thought as they made more episodes, ex:

- In the beginning no one knows who that monk is, but in like 4 minutes, he somehow became their master and all looked up to him...
- Or White Blaze, who couldn't do anything against one Soldier of Doom in the first episode (who by the way had some powers then...) and towards the end he can deal with a small legion.
- Let's no talk about Arago, who got defeated 2 times and came back again with no upgrade but new characters dropped from who knows where, to get defeated again. When is he coming back?
- Talking about that, Khaos defeated Arago with his full armor, by himself, but in the "present" the guys with 5 armors can't do a thing... ok so much for these armors being any good or these guys being strong.

What they did good was Shiten, we could very early on see him changing and coming to the other side, it was not just dropped in like the rest (though the first few episodes depict him differently but let's forget about that to find something good).
I really wanted to like the show, because it is from my childhood, and because the basics are pretty cool, but it is just handled so badly...

Oh this series is straight garbage. I tried to watch it with my roommate last year and it physically hurt. I don't know why 10-year-old me felt the need to stay up until Midnight and catch this on Toonami.

I just started watching this show today and its honestly not bad at all.... sure its a kids show with some goofiness to it but so far its pretty fun and I like that the villians actually catch on to whats going on instead of seeming really stupid and incompetent like in most kids shows like this.

The monk guy seems really cool and im looking forward to seeing everyones armour upgrades assuming they all get them similiar to how Ryo does in the volcano.

I just finished the serie in the japanese version, I get a very similar feeling.

I really love the concept, the characters designs are awesome, the setting is awesome ,the transformations are awesome, the armors are awesome, but man so many things were badly exploited or unexplained.

Arago and the 3 warlords were a mess, they had a good theme I loved the fact that their armors had good in them, I just wish the 3 warlords would had played a bigger role in the last fight.
Only Shiten was a good character , even in comparison to the 5 troopers he had the most character developpement. I cried when he died. The relation between the 5 troopers wasen't exploited enough we could felt their bond but not that much. We never saw Jun with his parents. Nasté became really useless as the show progressed. Also, I really hated it that the armor of inferno required the power of all the others 4. But man Ryo was hot.

Let's not forget It's still a 1988 anime aimed at a kid audience we can't expect much it's gonna be flawled for sure . However I still enjoyed it very much and I would watch it again.

I have to disagree, I think this show is awesome yes the lore is kinda all over the place but the theme and aesthetics are just great. I'm a huge fan.
