THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Well, this anime continues to push the war themes. It's sad that there is death but not forgotten.

On the other hand, Yuuki's role in this episode didn't impress me much. She didn't make much of an impact as a princess and I still haven't found her personality appealing yet. Hope to see some Stella next time.

I like the way they're trying to make Yuuki character develop but it's kinda hard to take a 12yr old seriously in this situation. I do like how we get a main character on both sides of the war.

I continue to be impressed by the perspective that this anime has decided to take on. It was a little frustrating seeing Yuuki sympathize with the other side, seeing as they are literally an invading force who, as seems to be the case, are motivated solely by greed. And if they are behind the terrorist action in the flashbacks, then perhaps this is something Yuuki will have to learn to get over. I personally can't see the anime trying to show their leadership in a positive light after all of this, especially with the scene at the end of the episode. (inb4 Yuuki's parents were evil all along)

But Yuuki needs to understand that simply surrendering isn't going to save lives, and it was nice to see that her people refused to hand her over. Someone on Stella's team needs to die though, our poor loli princess has a monopoly on named character deaths.

Well looks like Yuuki is losing badly.
Anyway it Stella shows herself in front of Yuuki for the first time tho unknowingly and even her mother didn't recognise her.
Yuuki made a though decision but it seems not everyone likes her idea.

I think that with this episode I can say that I detest the empire of Grandiga.
Yuuki is still looking for what to do for this war and be a useful monarch, but her age seems to be a big factor for not meeting her goal, besides having lived in a cage without knowing what happened outside.
Harold stand out today, he handled himself in combat very well, I got to thinking that he would be killed after knowing a bit of his past, but luckily it was not like that, the same i thought with Yuni when I saw her wound was opened during the fight ( I remembered what happened with Joshua).
Again Yuuki is ignored by her people and they evacuate her instead of taking her to sign the surrender, which ruin any possibility that Yuuki has a good character development.
I hope that Izana is not dead, but as things are in this anime, i will have to wait for the next episode to know what will happen with him.
It seems that the next episode we will return with Stella and I'm not sure what can happen, but if I'm honest, I do care very nothing about what will happen with the Grandiga army, the only thing I can expect is to know Soleil army leave a nuclear bomb or something similar to kill all the scum of Grandiga in the palace, except Owens, Lily and Stella.

So, here's my theory:
Joshua is actually alive and he faked his own death in order to teach Yuki about harsh reality of war or something like that.
Especially, due to his wound did not seem to be lethal, in comparison to Yuni's which already fully recovered in the next scene.

The only bad part in this week's episode was a shot just before the OP began. The animated army was completely out of scale with the terrain over which it was moving.

Really enjoyed this week again. Looks like next week shifts back to the other side's POV. I am very glad that they are showing that the princess is not stupid, merely inexperienced. She should turn out well as an adult if she survives that long.

With everything now set in motion, Princess Yuuki is in a deadlock, having to just play the safe game of surrendering to the Imperial Army...to drastic results of shipping her away with the rest to save the face of Soleil. Even though for a moment she did display some prowess of tactic reality with the battle, it was not enough to justify her just-growing-up actions of taking everything into her own hands and calling it on her own basis, and believe me, that's NOT what she was supposed to execute. The cost of saving everyone of their smiles is never gonna be the same again.

On the other hand, the Empire of Grandiga is one of cowardice and malice, ever since the events of Episode 1, what Yuuki learnt as compared to Aine Fleet is not just the apples-to-oranges formulaic intent, but set on that even Stella's section and her men might just go rogue in the future. Even though Yuuki managed to get a glimpse of Stella for a moment, I'd presume it's only a matter of time where they'll know the true intent and cause of the war between both kingdom and empire (or more like family issues).

Other than that, the war race is still on...accompanied by more subpar CGI and bland artwork, come on Tatsunoko, is that how you celebrate your anniversary???

I'm getting tired of the Kingdom constantly losing. Every week there's a final stand of some kind and yet it continues.

And I'm disappointed with the princess. I thought she was finally going to grow up and act but instead she wants to save the enemy as well. And if she's going to surrender and give up everything they were fighting to protect then they shouldn't have been fighting to begin with. We're six episodes in and she still hasn't understood that they must fight back.

And of course the enemy can't lose even a single member of Stella's squad. What's up with that?

The kingdom set up a good defense, but in the end superior numbers still won. Plenty of badass moments in the battlefield.. Yuni fighting even though stil wounded from the forest night fight, Harold took down many all by himself.. and that guy Pierce in Stella's squad, he drew a lightsaber still trying to fight even though he was badly injured already.

Yuki did some good and stupid things this time. Shouting at Harold to stop in the heat of battle, Yuki-sama you could have gotten him killed right there if he listened to you. The good thing is, her idea of bombarding the ground saved many Soleil soldiers from dying right there in the battlefield. Surrendering was another stupid idea.. as you never know what the empire will do even after surrender.

Izana is brave to volunteer to stay behind. I assume they fought as a rearguard to make sure the princess escaped safely to the refugee camp.

Stella's squad seem to be unhappy even though the empire managed to occupy the palace.

What even is the point of having a monarch if nobody ever obeys them? If you don't think she's up for the job, establish a damn democracy. I really wish, they would have gone through with her plan, would make things more interesting and less violent.

Harold was impressive to watch out there, as expected he has so much experience and determination.

Wow look at Yuki go, she made a great play.

Of course Yuki doesn't like that decision but what the adults decided on was not wrong, it was definitely the right course of action.

Next week will be the seventh episode, and the two MCs haven't even exchanged a single line yet. It disturbs me and if earlier I argued that it would not be yuri, now I’m not even sure that the show will contain any kind of friendship, partnership or relationship at all. Although OP and ED clearly assume that both girls will have to become quite emotionally close during the show. Honestly, with each new episode I understand less and less what the authors want to achieve.

Ugh, either I never noticed or this episode production went to the shitter, crappy animation after crappy effects after crappy drawings, the end of the episode couldn't have come sooner.

Other than that I think Yuki has the right mindset, keeping on with the war will just keep the war tally going up without changing the outcome, the kingdom has pretty much no forces left and have been pushed to a corner by an overwhelming force.

So this mean that in the last battle them Grandija forces won over them Soliel and still Yuuki can't accept the reality of war, she just gave up like that, good thing her subject decide otherwise.

halfway through this series and the stella and yuuki havent even met
and whats the point of that kingdoms monarchy if everyone ignores the shit out of the princess's commands and orders, and most of them dont take what she says into consideration?

Yuuki's character is getting rather stale and she just remains naive because 'reasons' just fight back already!

Except that when she attacked, she made her army kill lol she even said that she had to face the consequences of her actions.

Mh... I wasn't expecting yet another "keep the Princess out of business" event to be the halfway big change. There was no revelation, no reversal...

4/5

The soundtrack is quite... weird. I'm sure the animator creating the musics is having a blast, doing this (nice conversion).

4/5 A veteran studio should be able to better manage its anniversary series structure.

Sympathizing to your invaders lmao that's what you get for putting a 12 year to the throne.

Judging from the OP Joshua's probably alive and the one piloting that Grad that almost killed Lily, and Yuki has to choose between her new found friend and her childhood friend as Stella and Joshua fight to death.

Why do they even ask the princess if they are gonna take all the decisions? I felt betrayed by the guys I was supposed to like. I think I'm gonna support Stella's squad now.

If you didn't notice, they showed Joshua's grave next to his fahter's during this episode and the flashback in the beginning proves that it was Yuni Vanquish who was in the Theurgear that almost killed Stella in episode 5.

I'm glad that we know more about Harold's past.

Also, the Princess really can't catch a break.

All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

Honestly, I would be the first one in being against Yuuki's orders/decisions I mean, it's so unrealistic to see a bunch of adults being so ok about the idea of surrendering to the enemy. Not to mention that at this point, I'm really surprised no one showed the typical "why should I follow the orders of a 12 years old?" attitude but well.

Regarding the episode, Yuuki's decision of surrendering was just absurd and stupid but again, understandable based on her age and her inexperience. That said, the opportunity she had and missed to decimate the enemy forces when they were scattered due to the mines explosion made me feel so mad xD

And regarding the last scene, I was expecting them to disobey Yuuki's orders at some point but the thing I didn't expect was for them to actually surrender to the Empire as she wanted. I wonder what will happen now.

Well, despite some inconsistencies in the art and animation, it was an entertaining episode overall. Now, let's see how things will play out since the Empire has occupied the Kingdom's capital.

Seeing how one sided this war has been, I believe surrendering at this point would be futile as the Empire would most likely have ended up massacring Soleil people and killing Yuuki. Even though Yuuki used some tactics, her lack of experience and naivety clearly showed by wanting to resolve this with as few causalities as possible on both sides...
