| I watched Megalo Box up till episode 5 then took a break. I was shocked to see 8.12 as the score now when before I think it was around 8.6 when Episode 5 or 6 aired. Wanted to ask about this since the score drop suggests they must have messed up badly on the ending itself or the last stretch of episodes? I think half a point off the average score from the midpoint of it airing to the end might be the most drastic drop I've seen happen. Usually by halfway through a season, the score will hardly change after that point. I think I'd seen .1 or .2 decrease due to a bad ending, S;G 0 probably being the most significant drop I'd seen so far at 9.1+ down to 8.87. Did they jump the shark somehow, or the ending was extremely terrible? I might check out reviews some more but I didn't look beyond the initial summaries, don't really want to hit sudden spoilers like "When Character A Died/got married to Character B/Surprising Plot Twist happened like this..." |
| The ending wasn't outrageously bad (I liked it, actually), but I think it was labelled mediocre by many people AKA it didn't meet expectations. And I guess the series carried a hype that didn't live up, so the drop in the final rating was natural once the hype tool stopped working. |

| I finished Megalo Box. It was pretty good.The score dropping was a good thing for me since my expectations lowered, got caught up in hype before. I think I'll give it a 7 though I might decide to make it an 8 later. Still really good for a show I tried randomly, knowing nothing about it going in. It'll probably be around top 10 of 2018, maybe #10 which is great since this has been a strong year so far. I think as a result, I will give Violet Evergarden a try too. In the past when I've tried something totally random with no obvious reasons for it, I'm usually severely disappointed. Maybe Anime Watcher challenge could be fun. |

| First impression: wow I love the OST, I might like Megalo Box more than Hajime no Ippo Final impressions: the fights are nowhere near as good as Ippo's; moreover, the plot and the characters could have been fleshed out better with two cours Still good in my book, but I perfectly understand why the score decreased. |
