THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This is quite an thrilling episode. We got Sugimoto and Asirpa working together and it shows both of their tracking skills. The bear is back....and so does the CG.

Meanwhile, Sugimoto had to deal with a pretty fierce white wolf. I thought that scene was done rather well. Asirpa managed to calm it down like a pro though. The episode also had more noticable character expressions. They need to do more of that XD

I still really like the character chemistry between Sugimoto and Asirpa in this show. Hope they can keep it up and it's also interesting to hear more about Asirpa's family.

There was CG bear for like 2 or 3 minutes. I don't think it's worth to pay attention to it.

This ep was better than 1st and 2nd! Tanigaki is soooo cool. We saw Tsurumi, Ushiyama and Hijikata too. And the Ainu kotan! Love this ep so much. Good adaptation.

Such a good episode! The ainu kotan (village) was truly a sight for sore eyes, and Huci... Huci is the best! Then we had Tusurmi - some great voice acting on the seiyuu's part and truly a great scene with the finger-biting and all :3 Tsukishima's one line (HAI!) was enough to get me hyped for seeing him again in future episodes QwQ my, we're gonna have so much fun with the 7th Division!

On Hijikata's part, I kinda imagined his voice differently when reading the manga but GOD, was it good nevertheless *-* just too little... 30 minutes went by too fast...

even so, Golden Kamuy anime is infinitely more interesting to watch than crap like Harem or isekai, like DxD.

it was a good episode, I was surprised that Tokyo MX allowed so much this level of violence, it seems the theory I hear from a friend of mine who lives at Japan that animes historical and dramas have a free pass to do certain things.

Oof, well that cg bear looks awful as usual. And there was a bit of editing/censorship regarding the dude who got his face ripped off that was disappointing. I dunno, this adaptation just feels off to me in someway so far. Oh well, the Ainu culture stuff was good at least. And the beginning of the osoma/miso runner put a large grin on my face. XD

What a thrilling episode. The CG bear is back, but it didn't bother me that much. It completely wrecked those soldiers. One of them is still alive and wants to go after the wolf, Asirpa should have let the wolf kill him smh. It was interesting to learn about her culture. Her previous name is hilarious lol.

This was a great episode, the animation had a pretty steep upgrade this time around!

It's a shame some of the violence got cut/altered, though I'm not really surprised.

I must say I didnt have much expectations of this when I first heard about it, but right now it's like the #1 show for me to catch weekly asap, which speaks volumes. Loving the chemistry btwn the 2 mains and balance of action and dialogue.
CGI doesn't concern me much, and i LOVE the baby bear!

5 chapters adapted again (half of a volume). A Ending at chapter 59 is more than likely now. But the anime has been well paced. Production values were nice in this episode. Seems like Episode 2 was just a mess up, since it was completely outsourced. Hopefully the blu-rays actually show the face ripping XD

Next episode's gonna be pretty awesome!!

EDIT: Actually, they adapted 5 chapters (chapters 7-12), plus the last six pages of chapter 13 (the Tsurumi scene).

Ainu people are so lovely, I'm not into any social movement things but Ainu really need some kind of #ProudToBeAinu trend.
I piss more than bear CG when Aspir grandma ship her with Sugimoto, in fiction work I'm not against age difference love, I'm against heterosexual love.

This show keeps delivering a great mix of comedy and thrill.

It was cool to see Asirpas village and lol, they sure have some strange traditions there.

Hijikata and Ushiyama joining forces at the end. Definitely an interesting development so far and I'm looking forwars to more.

Show still feels fast, but well paced.

This was more relaxing episode than the others but keeping the thrill in some scenes. Sugimoto eating poop lmao.

7th division chasing after Sugimoto and Asirpa, they are intelligent in the wild. That bear taking three mans down, damn. That CG used yikes, but the scene was good showing that the wild can be dangerous. The comedy faces on this episode tho. Asirpa can be funny sometimes.

Asirpa's hometown is what I was excepting, they have interesting cultures and habits. Hope we find more about them. That soldier is crazy tho, the way they showed that is disgusting damn.

A perfect 1-to-1 adaptation as always, the show keeps getting better as it goes: the worldbuilding culture between Ainu and the Sisam (much like the rural and urban lifestyle meshing), the language and all is really immersive.

Well done, and one of the top tier shows of the Spring season.

The poop exchange in the beginning was funny, and we got to learn a little more about Ainu culture in this episode. Please, no more CGI bears.

I enjoyed the more dramatic parts of this episode as well, and some new characters showed up. Things seem to be getting more intense, particularly with characters like Tsurumi and Hijikata. I'm excited to see what they're up to.

We didn't get much actual plot movement this episode, but the focus on Ainu culture for almost the entire episode made it very interesting regardless: it's probably a long shot, given that only 15 people (apparently) can actually speak the language now, but was that authentic Ainu language that Asirpa's grandmother spoke in?

This is turning out to be quite the enjoyable show, and I'm excited to see what it has to offer next week and beyond (assuming Geno Studio can maintain the production values at a decent level ).

Not sure I can believe he jumped in that hole and didn't get attacked or shot, just entering it sounds like a stupid idea and well I guess the girl is also pretty lucky that the wolf came out and saved her.
The episode was okay but I was a little more into the other ones I do enjoy watching the realtionship between the ainu girl and the mc grow, but the conflict this episode was a little boring and they put in a lot of things to set up for later which is totally necessary and I'm looking forward to the confrontation with Hijikata and the guy who lost most of his face when we get there.

Well, Asirpa did mention that brown bears don't kill humans that enter their den (though, that's just an Ainu belief). Sugimoto might've hid behind the bear to avoid getting shot.

After looking at the manga pages, they really toned down the gore here. After seeing the manga pages, I'm a lite disappointed that it was toned down like that.

Yeah I knew that, it was the set up for it, still sounds like a stupid idea, the bear would of been hungry it only lives off its own fat in winter, it had a baby to protect there was barely any room for it to even squeeze past him.

Its only being a bit nit picky but I would of just surrendered as well I think if you did that in real life the bear probably would kill you, maybe it would prioritise the shooters first, but your going near its kid.

True. After all, bears not killing human in their den is just a hoax. Oh well, Sugimoto's actions throughout the series aren't always rational.

I believe the mangaka has an actual Ainu advisor, so that's how he gets the info for the manga. I think this advisor is also able to speak it and I assume they helped with this episode. But yeah, I would like to know how they did this exactly as well.

This episode was hinna hinna. They're doing a good job adapting this actually and I really like the choices of voice actors. They fit the part. And the mad 7th division is now part of the proceedings too.

Loved that they kept the bit when the grandmother in Ainu tells Sugimoto to marry his granddaughter since no Ainu man will take her and Asirpa asserts how she's a new woman for a new age.

Yeah, they've toned down the graphicness of the violence, but its not as if they made some mild PG stuff. The manga takes it really to the extreme.

Asirpa is starting to scare the crap out of "Immortal" Sugimoto now. I'm not sure whether to praise Asirpa here or give Sugimoto the look of shame right now. XD

Either way Asirpa was a joy to watch in this episode. The wolf came along to save her and rewarded him with a nice belly rub. After that cute scene, she showed Sugimoto her village and explained about the bear ritual and also the names they have until they turn a certain age and get proper names. At first, she was called "grandfather's asshole". Someone must've been drunk when they came up with that one, lol.

The CGI bear might've made a small return, but the animation is a good improvement over episodes one and two. Hopefully they'll keep this consistency for the rest of the series. =)

Looking forward to the next episode.

Ok, what Ainu words did we learned today"

Chitaptap- A kind of meat balls stew, where the meat of small wild game is minced and then formed into balls and boiled.

Hinna Hinna- Their way of saying ittadakimas.

Osoma- Means "SHIT".

Kuwatora Sisam, oharu or osoma omare wa e- The man I was who puts poop in his soup and eats it.....quite a insult to Asirpa's pursuer

Kotan-Village

Sisam- their reference to a Japanese who is not part of their tribe.

Sitaktak - clump of shit.

Somomop - Diaper

Tennep -Something sticky.

Asirpa's real name is Ekasiotompuy literally means she is her Grandfather's Asshole. her Nickname is Asirpa is either New Yaer or Future.

So Kamuy in ainu dialect probably means either spirit or god.

Man them Ainus do have quite a rich tradition, too bad that their discriminated by their own country men.

Oh shit they should have killed that Matagi guy and whoa that Tsurum is as mad as hell for biting off his superiors finger.
