Oh man, the fight scenes are so good. This show just keeps getting better and better.
I'm actually starting to believe that the reason it has only 6.91 as a score is because quite a few people of those who haven't seen Hanamaru are watching Katsugeki, and they don't really know what's going on or find it boring. But this is so much better than Hanamaru...

Yagen, you are a hero. You gave it your all, you are amazing.
Also I had a feeling Tsurumaru would come. It was epic :')

Another thing; for some reason Izuminokami's voice doesn't sit very well with me. I don't think it fits his appearance. I can imagine him having a more "noble" voice, firm and gentle at the same time. Hearing him speak with a rough and more casual tone seems strange...

He is actually not noble like you think. The part where he imitated Hijikata and arguing with Mutsunokami is his true personality. He is rather childish and a bit narcissistic. Horikawa looks after him all the time. Because he is the captain, he is trying to be more serious, I guess.

Well a lot of the people who scored this HAVE seen Hanamaru and don't really think Ufotable did much to make the plot more interesting or the characters interesting. Even as someone who is a part of the fandom for this anime's game - I do think the first 3 episodes would have turned any non-fan or someone with a low tolerance for slower anime off -. However it is disappointing that they dropped it before it picked up in the fourth episode. But then again, who knows if the anime's quality beyond episode 4 will continue to be as good as the quality of episode 4 itself as it moves along. It could simply return to the old formula ( the formula of the first 3 episodes ) for the rest of the series with one random gem like episode 4 only appearing every few episodes.

To be real, I also think most of the people who watched this only watched it because its a ufotable anime and then they realized it wasn't their thing ( or that it wasn't for them lol ). Or they think the anime is fujoshi bait because of the all male cast and scored it low for that. I've observed many of comments in this forum and its all for different reasons.

Also while i respect that its your opinion, I don't think its fair to say Katsugeki is better than Hanamaru. Hanamaru has a different feel to it, was adapted by a different studio and is meant to appeal to Touken Ranbu fans who prefer slice of life elements ( which is apparently a lot of the JP fandom for this franchise ). Katsugeki really shouldn't be compared to Hanamaru at all because they're doing very different things and are VERY dissimilar adaptations - heck some of the only things they have in common are the characters ( and some of the future characters for this show haven't even appeared in Hanamaru ), the fact that they're adapted from the same game ( though Hanamaru is way closer to the source material than Katsugeki ) and the concept. So, yeah. Hanamaru should be viewed as a separate adaptation as intended in my opinion. Not something to be compared to Katsugeki.

And about the Izuminokami voice thing, he's not a noble type character and is characteristically a rehash of his former master Hijikata Toshizou - though I'm not sure if the way he sounds/talks has anything to do Hijikata. In game, he talks like that because he's trying to sound cool and in the anime is probably the same reason. I don't like his voice in the anime though - it sounds ugly to me after hearing it so often lol

Better action, or at least vfx & smoke isn't blocking everything. And the boss enemy actually competes.
Mr Fox might be best character, babysitting all these arguing dudes. The detective work interesting this time. So a peace meeting with Katsu Kaishu.
Thinking Toyohisa of Shimazu could cameo at the storage meeting just for lolz.

Both Drifters & this have time travel, so they could meet whenever as a crossover be cool. Tho they can easily teleport to 1600 Sekigahara since they travel so often.

None of the swords have any relation to Toyohisa. If we go back to Sekigahara, only Tonbokiri's master, Honda Tadakatsu, participated in that battle. I would rather go back Honnouji to meet Oda Nobunaga, Yagen's master.
