Everyone is scrambling around on the board just trying to get a grasp of what the fuck happened. As much as I want to post it, I cant find anything concrete cause everyone's all over the place in terms of spoilers, characters fates, spin-off series, etc etc. So can someone who read the LN's all the way through step up to the plate and provide clarification for the rest of the board? (Volume 5 spoilers, ending, and spin-off spoilers. The whole works, everything.) Thanks! |

Well, I'm not an LN reader, but I had a look at the online fan translations. It looks to me that the anime drops off at the very end of Volume 3 Chapter 5. So just start reading there, if you want to know the continuation (as I am doing). |

I've finished all the LNs and I think you'd be better off reading the LN to see for yourself as to what happened. The anime misses out on a lot of foreshadowing for Vol 4/5 and some backstory on Leila. Worldbuilding and exposition is also glossed over for more focus on the characters. Fan translations are complete save for a few chapters near the end of Vol 5 so I will summarize what happened for the untranslated parts since I've already completed it. I have not read the EX volume or the sequel so someone else will have to fill you in on that. The anime did gloss over some details and is missing context on the inner thoughts of the characters and was more ambiguous in the way they portrayed what happened in ep 12. By the time Chtholly woke up in ep 12, she no longer has any memories left and is essentially an empty shell with her final lingering sentiments of wanting to protect Wilhem. The anime expanded on the fight and took some liberties to animate it which made it seem like she unleashed the fairy gate in that final explosion. We also know at this point that she is no longer a fairy so she does not disappear and is able to say "thank you" to Wilhem before finally dying. There are some minor differences since in the LN as the fight is much longer and extended into the night time, and by that point her body is irreparably wounded and severely damaged. But still, the seemingly endless battle eventually came to a close. The corpses of 715 Beasts lay around her, all cut apart, crushed to bits, or burned to ashes. And that was all. Confirming that no more Beasts remained around her, the girl finally stopped moving. The wind stood still. Her red hair, so vivid as if it were ablaze, glowed brightly in the moonlight. — Someone was lying collapsed on the ground. Who is that? the girl thought. With some effort, she twisted her neck to take a look. Enveloped in the darkness of night, a black haired young man lay on the sand with a young girl held tightly to his chest. “Ah…” The girl raised her head and thought about saying something, but her throat no longer functioned after such wild breathing during the battle. And besides, she didn’t even know what to say. The young man looked as if he were about to burst into tears. For some reason, the girl found that sight saddening. Who is he? Surely, he used to be someone very precious to her. But she couldn’t remember. She couldn’t even feel a sense of loss. The girl got the feeling that she wanted the man to smile. She wanted him to laugh and tease her. But at the same time, she wanted him to cry. She wanted him to feel for her now empty self so much that he would be moved to tears. I’m a terrible person, the girl thought. I really am. The young man’s eyes opened ever so slightly and looked towards the girl. A sudden happiness welled up inside her chest. She could convey to him. After losing everything, even losing sight of who she was, one last wish still remained inside her tattered heart. There were words she wanted convey to him before she disappeared for good. Thank you. She moved her lips to form those words, then, with every ounce of strength left inside her broken body, she smiled. After a brief moment, the girl’s consciousness terminated, never to return again. The fate of Wilmen and Ren are hinted in the anime as the two ripples which show up with Suwon's detection magic. The LN goes into more detail but their condition is actually much worse than what we see in the anime and Wilhem's body is close to being destroyed from over exerting himself trying to save Ren. Wilhem and Ren get dragged in to a dream world by the First beast and relive the final moments of humanity's destruction. By the end of this volume, they manage to slay the beast and to escape the dream world but the essence of the beast flowed into Wilhem, transforming him into a beast. Ren tries to save him and takes half into herself instead so they both become beasts. However, since Ren is a fairy, she isn't affected by the impulse to kill and instead gains immortality. Wilhem is saved by his former master Nils which suppressed the half beast residing in him at the cost of his memories. For some time, he lived with Elq who was also picked up by his master while Ren desperately searched for Wilhem. With the threat of the Timere beast gone, multiple factions are now competing for power and want to utilize the fairies for their own gain. They also developed a technique which forcibly uses the fairy gate to power a weapon of mass destruction to fight against the beasts. It is revealed that another faction brought beasts up for experimentation on the floating islands. The beasts escape and threaten the survival of the islands which is when those weapons were put to use. Wilhem is caught in the battle and discover the horrifying truth of the weapons using fairies as fuel and attempts to stop it. By doing so, he awakened his sealed memories and slowly returns to a beast. Our fairy soldiers from the warehouse, Lakesh, Rhantolk, Tiat, Ithea also participate in the battle and have to fight Wilhem now that he is a beast. With the last of his remaining humanity, Wilhem edges them on and teaches them a final lesson by provoking them to kill him and bring peace to the islands. Lakesh, the new owner of Senorious, manages to stab Wilhem with a surprise attack. Wilhem recognizes his defeat, and with the last of his power, activates the sword's curse to kill himself since Lakesh doesn't know how to use it yet. The young fairies mourn and cry over Wilhem's death in their first battle. Ren, who was not in the battle, senses that Wilhem has passed on (likely from her half beast side) and a tear slides down her cheek as she looks into the sky. Wilhem's body was picked up by Suwon and preserved in stasis. Elq and Ren live together and look after him. Wilhem has a conversation with his old master Nils in his consciousness where he was offered to move on from earth to a new planet and start anew. Wilhem declines the offer and expresses his intent to remain on earth. Epilgoue Some years later, it is strongly implied that Wilhem returns as the dialogue parallels the first chapter where he first encounters Chtolly as a girl who fell from the sky. However, this time a 'young man' meets a young girl, about 10 years old with sky blue hair. He trips and she lands on him and she worriedly asks if he's hurt or damaged any organs. As if reminiscing, he looks at her and she asks if they've met before. He says they probably haven't and she leads him to the warehouse. Upon arriving, the caretaker worriedly scolds the girl for going missing the forest but becomes speechless as she sees the young man. "How... how.. is this possible..? "My apologies for being away for so long." "EHH!??" "I'm back." Her eyes opened wide in surprise and warm tears overflowed with a mixture of surprise and joy spreading across her face. And then..with a trembling voice, she said "Welcome... back.." End of Epilogue |

Post ending scene is from the end of vol. 3 where there is a short section from the past describing Chtholly's birth. I believe they purposely made it ambiguous in the anime which is why many people thought she reincarnated. Thematically, it is a fitting way to close off Chtholly's story by showing things full circle from the beginning of her life and the end. Although she was born into this "half apocalyptic, restless, completely unsavable world", she was able to live her life to the fullest and become the happiest girl the the world ;-;. |

"My apologies for being away for so long." "EHH!??" "I'm back." Her eyes opened wide in surprise and warm tears overflowed with a mixture of surprise and joy spreading across her face. And then..with a trembling voice, she said "Welcome... back.." End of Epilogue Thanks for the info glad to know the ending! I really don't see a sequel after this... The post ending scene from episode 12, where you see a baby Ctholly(I think), is it from vol. 5? Post ending scene is from the end of vol. 3 where there is a short section from the past describing Chtholly's birth. I believe they purposely made it ambiguous in the anime which is why many people thought she reincarnated. Thematically, it is a fitting way to close off Chtholly's story by showing things full circle from the beginning of her life and the end. Although she was born into this "half apocalyptic, restless, completely unsavable world", she was able to live her life to the fullest and become the happiest girl the the world ;-;. Yeah I asked that cause I thought it was when she reincarnated. Cause she appears in vol 5 as a 10 year old. So they made it ambiguous... Damn the feels of this series, you must have had a blast reading the novels. They should have made a 2 cour anime in the first place, it would have been the perfect amount for sure. |

Garloct said: I've finished all the LNs and I think you'd be better off reading the LN to see for yourself as to what happened. And then..with a trembling voice, she said "Welcome... back.." End of Epilogue Wait where did you find the info on the epilogue; and is it the troll care taker who says welcome back?!? Or is it chtholly saying it? Does that mean there's gonna be more volumes? |

There is a continuation after the 5th volume in the form of a sequel series titled Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Mou Ichido dake, Aemasu ka? ( 終末なにしてますか? もう一度だけ、会えますか?) There currently 4 volumes out there, which I'm sure are not translated anywhere. I don't know if this is the final volume or not. |

And then..with a trembling voice, she said "Welcome... back.." End of Epilogue Thanks for the summary. The story is SOO DAAMN good (based on the summary) and it could be concluded perfectly with 24 episodes. And I thought chtholly would be revived at the end like Willem. Based on the stuffs I read, it seemed there won't be a season 2 :( |

Garloct said: I've finished all the LNs and I think you'd be better off reading the LN to see for yourself as to what happened. Who is he?
