| I can say that sometimes I'm such a dense motherfker that it surprises me now and again. I never took much heed to the continual lines "warrior or aesthete." or "is there a forkroad between the two". What the chief advisor's right hand man correctly assessed is coming to pass... Warriors are weakening their loyalties, their group mentality and losing their grit to become aesthetes. Even the most uninterested diehard warriors have slowly being drawn to it like we see with this episode, dull Ueda is metamorphosing before our very eyes.. Akechi was becoming one shortly before his passing. The warrior class which enforces the rule is become irrelevent. I could be way off the mark, but so far that seems to be one of the many overarching themes. Senno's long years of patiently planting weeds housed in tumbleweed helmets in the royal courtyard is now bearing prominent shields of 'apt' taste. The older order of cannibalistic plants are being chasen out through competition. There is no stopping this train, a whole new crop of aesthetes are popping up during and especially after the warring ends. Aesthetes that give the warrior name shame with the audacity to redefine what they think is samurai. The older generation much like Sakusuke and Sasuke's father are unable to comprehend their progeny. Unlike Oda's masterful control of the pompous bulk of them however, Toyotomi is losing them; being a proud copycat doesn't aid him in the least to this new morphing threat. |

| I simply am saddened by Souji's death. After he just reunited with Rikyu, what a thing Hideyoshi has done. If I was in that situation I Would've said he looked like a giant bird pimp, simple as that. Kobori:-D :-D :-D |

| I like the contrast between Hideyoshi's brutal reaction to Soji's honesty compared to Nobunaga's respectful reaction to the same of Rikyu(then Soueki) in episode 2. It really goes to show what a clumsy imitation Hideyoshi is. Even that Nobunaga has killed a man with his own hands just before contrasts to how Hideyoshi lazily orders someone else to kill Soji for him. And this is even more interesting considering Rikyu has gotten a taste of his own medicine. Soji had such a bad time because he was facing Hideyoshi and not Nobunaga and Rikyu did all he could to replace the one with the other. |
