THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------

I absolutely loved this movie. Beyond the Bottom opens the story in July, and it sure hits the ground running. The quick pacing and jump from one scene to another reflects WUG's newfound energy after returning to Sendai. Their nationwide road trip is also fun to watch, and I wish there was an extended footage on it. Shiho's dismissal from I-1 Club and her exile to Hakata also mirrors Rino Sashihara's exile from AKB48 to HKT48 after she was caught in a scandal.

If you don't follow the Japanese entertainment industry, one thing you will come to realize from watching this movie is that no one really pops out of nowhere. We learn that Junko used the money she "borrowed" from Green Leaves in the TV series to help her friend Katsuko, who is also a former member of Saint 40. She had ghost-written the song that won the group the Golden Disc award. Former industry insiders continue to return to influence today's industry. In the end, even the idol scene is just a cycle in history.

Because I-1 Club is participating in the latest edition of Idol Festival as a competitor, rather than as a guest artist, WUG's victory means that they are officially crowned as the nation's number one idol group. No fluff. The presentation of the theme song and the ending scene is excellent.

Just completed it, it's subbed atm on gogoanime if you still haven't found it !

Anyway I'm legitly crying as fuck
I mean I'm so glad that I witnessed this show

I actually love idols and Japanese entertainment industry and for that Wake up, Girls! is the greatest show that I can have.
It's describing so accurately idols industry and it's kinda satisfying to watch !

That's about a whole year that I'm listening Beyond the bottom and Shoujo Koukyoukyoku and I was like " Hey, when I'll be able to listen it in the movie ", " their outfit is so cute, can't wait to watch "

Then this morning, I'm heading to gogoanime and I see it
Insta-watched, no bullshit, they won the title, 10/10 would watch again and again.

So glad it finally got subbed. :) Absolutely loved this, definetly the best of WUG so far! It does have a fairly fast pace but I didn't mind that really, it fitted well into the realism idea of the show that it's not always something new happens everyday, it can be the same thing over and over again. I had a feeling about that happening in the I-1 Club though, it was made quite suspiciously likely in the end of the last movie.

Nonetheless, the Festival of Idols was amazing! Have to admit though, with an unpopular opinion no doubt, I really liked the I-1 Club song. It was quite laid back in it's style and it seems like it took a different direction from the more in-your-face pop that they usually did. Liked the I-3 Club song too but that WUG song was just ... something else, incredible! And the result after the credits was the cherry on top! :D And now to just wait for the next movie but after seeing the raw trailer on the MAL page, it looks like it'll be quite promising! :D
Forever wishing for an unrealistic Anime romance.

FINALLY the Wuggies got their moment of glory. Much needed realization that they needed to be themselves. A bit of drama towards the end with Nanami having to decide on her career or WUG. In the end that decision could have very well been key in WUG's 1st place win. Honestly, I like her attitude, stick with the group towards the end. The outfits were just beautiful. It has this Greek theme that gave them elegance and maturity. And the song was just beautiful, by far my favorite from WUG.

Shiho's group was pretty good. I like that friendly rivalry she has with Mayu and the brief reunion.
But wow WUG came from behind and caused a big upset. Their adventure in Tokyo which even they don't want to remember and then shortly after they are competing with 1-1 Club and a unit with an ex 1-1 Club member, Shiho.

WUG's Fanclub must have been going crazy when they saw them lift the trophy.

That was a good song. I liked.

Was a good movie, over-all. Tbh the cast dynamics seems a little fake at times, or maybe it's just not as exaggerated in some other anime? It's more mellow here, I guess.

So they won just like that? I see.

This was fantastic. First off, Shiho's new group "Next Storm" was lit! It was nice to see a little bit of her perspective coming full circle with Mayu's. I-1's new center Moka was cute, and interesting that she seemed to have the "love being an Idol" spirit to the super serious motif that are previous center had. It would have been nice to see more time with those two character/groups. I like getting a bit of info on "Jun Jun" and her history as well.

The song Beyond the Bottom and the performance was stunning, and a beautiful end.

Decent movie, obviously much lower budget than a typical anime movie, but the final couple minutes of WUG performing looked decent for the most part. Story was pretty much what I expected of a seque, albeit rushed at certain points. The characters are the reason why I like WUG and they were on point in this movie, though I don't recall Miyu being such a complete ditzy character in the TV series.

Very satisfying movie, It may have been paced a little fast but I still enjoyed it a lot.

Loved the little showcase and development Shiho got, It was nice to see her finally smiling when she was working with her new group. Glad she was able to finally understand what Mayu told her.
Little bit of drama with Nanami, I was expecting that would come up. I even knew that she would come back yet I was still tearing up when the girls were crying. :P

WUG finally realized that all they needed to do was be themselves, The group hurdle at the end conveyed that realization really well.

Gotta commend the die hard fans for their work with the fan club and never ending support, Their conversations never fail to amuse me. XD

Performance was great and the song was really nice, Shiho's group was nice too.
WUG's moment of glory is finally here, The End card had me grinning like crazy. :D

8/10 , Wonder what the 2017 series has in store.

The gogoganime video used Heretic's subs, which is fine and comprehensible, but it isn't perfect.

Someone took Heretic's script and made it even better. Link here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/cxxiib7ol52ro5l

Changes include:

- All grammatical errors and inconsistencies are now fixed. (No more "i'm"s or "Shiho-chi" when it's "Shihocchi")
- Certain subs timings are refined further so it does not outstay the spoken line.
- Insert songs are now translated.
- The Beyond the Bottom song is translated and color coded according to which girl is singing.

Keep in mind, this is just the subs. You have to play it alongside the video. Moozzi2 RAWs work best as that was the video the translator and editor worked with.

Looks like Nanami's ballet career was more favored by her parents, but she stuck on for the group. Great movie and they won!

Going back to their roots was the expected move.

Nanami (not) leaving... insert drama here.

Their new song was pretty even if it didn't have as much energy. It's one of those songs that can be more captivating then exciting.

7/10 as always for WUG.
I think it would have been better served as a standard TV series though.

What the hell was this? All the other entries were enjoyable but this just felt like a big load of nothing that had a horrible ending. All the conflicts and rivalry between Shiho and Mayu for it end with a fade to black that then reveals they won? SERIOUSLY? I'm super curious what the next show's going to be about since they just removed all sense of rivalry from the show in a matter of minutes. Garbage.

The second part of the movie was... alright I guess. First part was better but that's only because the second one was bit slow in its first half and then they get to the end too quickly. 10+ minutes would be probably the best to deal with aftermath of the show, it ended too suddenly this way (and their aftercredits win picture was just weak in terms of developement, it almost felt like an afterthought, not real victory). They never told us wheter I-1 was the second or third for example. Nor did we learn who was the person manager visited in the hospital.

Of course, that doesn't mean the movie was bad, quite contrary. It just didn't live up to my expectations and left few things unresolved. I actually like their road trip for example or Shiho's new unit performance.
But overall, nothing big or exceptional really happened, they just concluded the first movie. Even the plot with Miyuu was weak because it was obvious how it ends - it would be a lot better if they won without her, and if she completed her dream by getting accepted - only to reject this choice later. The way it was here, it felt like she just ran away and whole plotline with her father was needless.

All-in-all it wasn't bad as a whole. It cannot be considered satisfying end. Let's hope the future gives us one.

6/10 The end of the first season did certainly a lot better job in terms of achievement and emotions.

Wow uh, I didn't expect the 2nd half to top the first half this much but honestly that part where Nanami quit and then just was quiet all by herself until she started bawling about two life choices was so heartwrenching. I loved the raw emotion of it; the pacing of this second half was excellent. Excellent.

The effort they put into the dance animation was excellent and I also like that they didn't gloss over the other idols songs/dance as that was my major critique of the first season.

The pacing was excellent, there never really was a dull moment and seeing all the things tie together to get a new song and end with a come back was just a such a great roller coaster of emotions. The ride was intense, energetic, happy, and ended with a satisfying ending. What more could one ask for? A sequel. =P I do agree though that it would've been nice to animate the suspense at the end followed by jubilation. It felt like we skipped the suspense and jumped to the jubilation. xD But seeing as we've been seeing them struggle since season one- and it being over 3 years old. I still think the outcome was hard won strictly as a narrative. If only they squeezed in another few minutes of production. xD

Really?.. They are trying to persuade me that this piece of shit Moka is any popular, let alone more popular than Shiho? Funny.
And i can't stand Miyu in this movie. She's so anoying.
I absolutely despise how some girls tried to convince Nanami to forget her dream for their
purposes. They acted like bitches, she already spent enormous amount of her time with them and this was her last chance to join Hikarizuka. Now she fucked up her future for some stupid idol activities. Her parents will be happy.
And Next Storm was awesome, way better than WUG.

That was a great comeback from WUG to be be able to win against I-1! After all the struggles they endured they truly deserve to win.

Enjoyable series with a great animation. 8/10.

Hmm, something about this second movie. Although I certainly liked it, the pace overall felt frantic & scrambled. It was as if they were trying to fit another season into 52 minutes. In contrast to the first movie, there wasn't any breathing room as the timetable moved lightning speed towards the all too brief idol festival.

With that said, I absolutely loved WUG's performance at the festival. The Greek goddess style outfits went perfectly with the triumphant sensation that their newest song conveyed. It had an angelic, end game atmosphere to it as it brought this journey beyond the bottom and to the very top. It really goes to show how far WUG has come. Not just as a unit, but as an anime as well.

That was a whole lot of nothing. 40 minutes of mostly rehashing old plot points only to rush the actual competition and tagged in a few seconds of the end result.

This certainly better than first part of the movie in terms of story and plot. But for me it's still Shoujo KouKyouKyoku >> Beyond The Bottom. I'm having fun with their tour. I think they gave too much Miyu's silliness in this movie haha, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The Idol Festival is quite good, the 3 songs from each group is well made, the first time I liked I-1 song. But in the end, WUG deserved to win. Can't believe it's credit scene already without looking the time. 10/10

I'm adoring this group and franchise. Now onto the the new chapter, I hope its as good as the first season and the movie.
