Besides, the person Toshiya actually called on the phone on the last pages is none other than Goro himself, who now acts as Joe Gibson in this manga anyways. As a side note, it is quite an irony that during the fourth season of Major anime, Toshiya, in his appearances on that season, received a fortune that he will be fortunate in love life (he does achieve recovery towards his little sister and his mother though during fifth season and the OVAs respectively). |

I hope so....but not to forget that the author has done that before (killing lead of 1st series in its sequel manga) The changes in this new manga in comparison to the previous one is pretty apparent, since the focus is Daigo finding a motivation to play baseball (right now, through being a battery with him as the catcher to Hikaru as the pitcher, much like their fathers, albeit reversed). Just to spoil a bit further in some of the current manga chapters (seen it in raw though), former Texas Raiders player Ken Mayumura's son, Kenta, is a catcher in this series as well, unlike his father. It was Kenta's sister that became the pitcher this time around (and also like many others, his sister is inspired to play baseball because of Goro Shigeno, a parallel to Joe Gibson way back in Major series). |
