| If you haven't seen this music video before then you should do so here. A bit of a warning tho, the video is a bit nsfw... I'll drop down the censored version down below but be warned: the video loses much of its meaning when censored, the video below does not censor it properly (as in too much) and I would highly recommend visiting the above^ link instead if you haven't watched it already. Alright now that you've watched it (or already watched it some other time), what are your thoughts on it? I know the majority believes its based on the dark side of otaku culture, but I'd like to know your opinion. I'd also like to know who you think all the other characters are (especially those random blue haired girls) and I'd also love to know what your favourite part of the song is (personally I loved everything after the girl ran out of the TV). *And yes I know its a bit of an old meme, but I think its still discussable. Please don't link me to what other people think or videos 'explaining' it, I've seen it all before. I'm not looking for someone else's opinion, I'm looking for yours. Thanks guys ^_^ |

It's a short that got wildly popular and has been discussed to death. It's either some crazy deep commentary on the faults of otaku culture, a fever dream someone had while trying to make softcore porn, or the creators just made it to fuck with people. Can't discuss something that's already been discussed. |

| The clip is about losing yourself to addictions and the struggle to break free from them. Not just the addictions an average hardcore otaku faces, but addictions in general. You see cigarette-butts ( smoking is an adiction), you see MC standing in front of a gambling machine ( gambling is an addiction), you see a lot of sexual imagery ( there are people who are addicted to sex ) you see him be dragged into a game at the end ( games have highly addictive potential). In the part with the game, you see him shooting the girl, who is the personification of his problems, but he his overwhelmed by her. His addictions got to the point where they are literally eating him up. Then, he opens his eyes: he's not down for the count yet The meaning behind the imagery in this short is pretty obvious most of the time, so i don't understand how people can't see it. Does a sexual representation of the human body throw them off that much? "UGH! It's a human body! Get that nasty thing out of my sight" As soon as nudity is involved, people start seeing it as just another lewd video. Obvious visual hints elude them. Sad |

Sad I interpreted it a little differently from, you. namely, the appearance of the girl from his memories as a representation of his pre-NEET days that are what we should strive for (social life, going outside and exposure to natural light sources, etc.) which he tries to reach by shooting at the girls (his problems), representing his desire to return to that more balanced lifestyle. But in the end, he gets ganked by the big boss, which symbolises the defeat of his willpower by his addiction and NEETery, thus leaving him still a sad, filthy shut-in. The rest of it is the same for me, but I like your interpretation of the ending more. Seems more optimistic. |

| On the original nicovideo page, this video looped ad infinitum in a perfect manner. That adds another layer to the video, as if it were a battle fated to fight and die forever, like a vicious loop. That and this has been discussed a lot. Pretty old meme, as you say. |

| Moved from Anime Discussion Uh....I think it's been a few months since I've watched it, but while it was a hell of a trip, I've (unfortunately) seen worse in terms of graphic and gross-out sexual content. I don't think too much on it because of that, but I can see how it could have freaked a lot of people out. Maybe it was an introspective journey describing a guy's regretful breakup with a girl he liked, and the whole short was his libido going out of control through an anime aesthetic, somewhat akin to Mind Game's visual portrayal of an insane internal journey. Or it could have just been a guy that really wanted to work out his weird fetishes. I dunno. |
