I've been given a word about this news prior to seeing it on an external website, but due to it being relatively splendidly summed up overall, I've decided to share the content directly.

Like a shounen protagonist who never dies, the ending is not the end for Monogatari, which despite concluding with explicitly titled “Owarimonogatari”, will be receiving a brand new “Tsugimonogatari”.

Nisio Isin has decided to continue the story with this upcoming light novel, although perhaps “continue” is not quite the right word. “Tsugimonogatari” amounts to “connecting story” indicating it takes place in the middle somewhere. To what benefit this might be remains to be seeing as, indeed, there are plenty of elements that could be expanded upon simply for the fact it’s a vast world, it’s not beneficial to build upon the necessary. In any case, expect this to eventually be animated by SHAFT.

Quick look at the picture shared:

Feel free to discuss anything on the matter of the upcoming release, just keep in mind to put any kind of touchy content in the spoiler tags, as well as name what it generally hides.

I hope he'd write a prequel book about young Gaen, Oshino, Kaiki & Kagenui, just like his Maniwagatari did to Katanagatari

As written, Zokuowari is currently still the last book chronologically-looking. There might be a sequel written to it story-wise, but Tsugi is not the one to be that. I wonder which two stories it will connect, though.

haven't finish reading owari 3 and my Zoku still not reaching me.
I just thought that Tsugi will just be an extra spin off instead of a continuation.

Do note that I didn't say that I'm in any sort of belief of seeing a sequel to Zokuowari story-wise. What my post wanted to express was that a possible sequel was not officially approved nor declined, although I do believe pulling out a continuation and keeping it logical would be kind of hard. What has been told, however, is that Tsugi will not be a further chronological (story-wise) release, but rather a connection maker between two (for now unknown which) stories. My comment was aimed at the audience that perhaps didn't know that.

Nisio might introduce us to a new set of characters and setting/plot in the same universe you know...

And if that happens, I hope he kills any existing or new characters.

Would have been interesting to see that happen.
