So this means, they've lost the game entirely, right? I'm so extremely frustrated right now!

You can't blame Kawakami. I'm sure you have your own opinion but I think everyone's plays were admirable and I don't have any regrets with how they played. (Other than wishing that they won ;A;) Sawamura was in no mental condition to play after the dead ball; Furuya's stamina was lost and his fast balls would only get hit since they would go higher very quickly; and Tanba was not in his best condition either even after proudly playing an inning. Kawakami did a good job of reassuring Sawamura with Miyuki and he pitched well. Mei was just able to get a home run off him and that's just how it was. But I definitely think everything Seido did was nothing worth regretting. They're all beautiful players with spirit.

Yeah, you can't really pin the blame on Kawakami. There were many opportunities for Seidou to put away this game, such as during the at-bats of Tetsu. As someone had mentioned in a post above, the real difference was the lack of a true ace, someone who could pull their team from dire situations and give them motivation through their performance. Also, Mei didn't hit a home run, it was just a mere walk-off hit. xD haha.

Edit: I forgot to mention it too but baseball is a team sport. Not one individual determines the outcome of a game. There are multiple factors and situations that call for contributions from all 9 players on the field. Sure, the presence of one player could help raise the spirits of the other players (such is the case with Sawamura), but in the end it's up to the other players to make the right decisions and plays to help not only themselves but their team.

Completely agree
It was a match where each of the players played exceptionally well. People keep forgetting that Sawamura is still a 1st year (not underestimating him because of his age, just saying his inexperience with that magnitude of this game's importance) Despite being a 1st year, he played an exceptional game. BUT that Dead ball was a very big hit on him. It broke his mental fortitude which was already beginning to waver with the start of 9th inning.
Apart from Sawamura, all of them played really well. Blaming Kawakami is just plain stupid. It's sports, that happens. A single second can change the flow anytime. That is how sports is.
And regarding the team, yes it's a team sports. A fact that is constantly re-iterated by all characters in this series. It's always the team. The pitcher is supported by the fielders. The fielders put their faith on the pitcher. The battery deciding the plays during the match. Blaming a single person is stupid.
I am sad that they lost the match, but well, that happens.

Damn, why did the author make Mei to be such an OP character? Not only can he pitch like a God, but he can also hit without hesitation. Bruh. Anyway, it was a thrilling match. I already knew what would happen since I watched the anime but it's still so very frustrating.
