Togashi didn't want to ruin a moment by foreshadowing something that would ruin the whole potential of the fight. I don't know how foreshadowing the nuke would benefit the story what so ever.

The whole checkmate situation would be less significant and less impactful. I'm sure Togashi thought it through because he took year long hiatus's between certain parts of the arc.

Not that it would make any argument you have less true, but it just seems ironic, because apparently asspulls shouldn't bother you.

Well you can list them in my profile if you want. I'm glad that you are not using a logic fallacy at least.

The fact that it's an asspull doesn't bother me as much what transpired due to it. If you didn't read the manga don't open the spoilers here

Well yes I actually agree with you. It didn't amaze me or make me surprised, despite being unpredictable. I'm merely calling it an asspull, whether it's good or bad is up to people's opinion. This reminds of a lesser extent to the mega asspull in Attack on titan about Eren. Which was a good asspull imo, since it benefited greatly from the lack of foreshadowing.

It isn't an asspull.
It was foreshadowed:
When the fight begin. Netero said :" This is a testing ground for military heavy weaponry"

When creepy Knov come back. Knov said: "I have received word from a messenger of the president. He has taken the king to appoint location"
"It doesn't matter what the guards do now .. They will be too late"

Don't worry I am not going down the fallacy route I am not stupid, but I couldn't help myself but comment on the fact you like shippuden so much, even though I find it one of the worst written shounen of all time (not that I know all shounen of all time but man wtf is going on in that manga right now holy moly)

How is it an asspull when it is shown as the opposite of an asspull?

Was it out of nowhere? Foreshadowed multiple times
Explanation, simple enough and doesn't need much
What did it demonstrate? The inability of Netero to kill Meruem. An asspull would be, for example, Naruto using Kyuubi to demonstrate his rage and will and love for friends.

I don't like Naruto, but the Kyubi has more foreshadowing than this Bomb.

More or better?

Anyway, when did they foreshadowing? Arguing that Kyubi always existed is the same as bombs always existing, but what about next forms? And their convenient timing in a predicament?
Netero used it because he could, as a last resort, it wasn't something he conjured up at the end because he needed to.

As for foreshadowing, there's no "more" in it, or at least it doesn't affect it MUCH. it's either foreshadowed or not, and the more instances, means the more proof there is.

But I would like to hear how they foreshadowed Naruto using 4, 6,8 tails, or Kyuubi being a Nakama, or pretty much 90% of Naruto's forms.

Considering how fucked up, in a moral sense, the HxH world is. I think they didn't use the bomb more because of Netero's selfishness than because they wanted to save millions of life.

The show gave many hints that a nuclear bomb was in the plans. First Knov said the mission was complete since the King is in "the place". Second, Netero said to the King that that's a place for nuclear tests.

But I was expecting a missile attack, not that the bomb was inside Netero. Awesome episode, and the most epic battle I saw in a anime.

He did foreshadow it, I reckon on 5-7 occasions, but very subtly so that it would come as a surprise. Any one of these foreshadowings might do in showcasing it.

So basically your reasoning is "They shouldn't give a fak about 5 million people and Nuke the stupid castle from the beginning"..... Seems legit.... I would like to see that happening in real world too.... Easy as fak!!!!

Well, I lost some brain cells and have to go find them... good luck and best wishes.

Well, it's hard to convince someone if it's an asspull or not if they didn't like the majority of the arc. I'm glad Togashi didn't foreshadow such a thing because implying anything in the slightest that Netero might have had a bomb in him would ruin it.
It's not like he didn't hint at such things either. You're confusing "asspull" from good storytelling IMO.

I don't see how Eren's situation differs from the lack of foreshadow.

Oh yeah of course, i knew there was subtle hints. I was pointing out that knowing a bomb might have been an answer for Mereum would totally ruin the moment.

Man the amount of love Netero showed for the king, but still the king refused Netero's feelings. Well at least he got the King's admiration before activating the bomb, and now they'll both meet in hell where they're both equals. It's gonna be hot in there.

It shows that the show is realistic enough to acknowledge the inferiority of a certain side, that they don't use asspulls like power surges or sayian modes to wriggle out of it, but by using things alternative to Nen, which already exist in the world.

But still, the bomb had the condition that it would activate after Netero's heart stopped beating. So why didn't they send just some random guy or criminal, and let him die so that the bomb could explode? That way, Meruem would have been nuked AND Netero wouldn't have had to sacrifice himself.
I still loved the episode, but you have to admit that if they had that super-bomb, they wouldn't have had the need for all that preceded its explosion.

I didn't expected the fight to end in this episode, and apparently the King is really dead as seen on the preview.

What if Pito kill him when in go in her EN and die with him? What if the ramdom guy fail ? What if the ramdom guy attack when the King isn't in the palace? The ants will know the last resort of the humanity and evolve.

Absolutely astounding.... Magnificent... The animation was so fluent and the emphasis was put on exactly the right parts. Most probably my favourite episode of any anime I've seen so far. "Meruem, you understand nothing of humanity's infinite potential for evolution." That line gave me goosebumps...

Who would be strong enoug and fast enough to do all that? To impress Meruem enough not to get his head beheaded (remember how easily Meruem walked past them in episode 112?), let alone go all the way with them to the Nuke testing site?

I think not. I learnt the meaning of it before I started watching the (2011) version. Well, I watched HxH, DB/Z, Dai, and some other ''cartoons'' that turned out to be shounen anime, Bleach and FMA:B before Naruto, so my cheery popped very early on. Why are you interested though?

What an attention whore! Attacking the entire HxH fanbase on one of the best HxH is history.

Is the bomb a asspull, plothole, deus ex, and illogical?
NO!
Unexpected, yes, but not illogical. For it to be illogical, this have to contradict some a rule or fact in the HxH universe.
Had it ever been stated what level of technology they have? no, we don't know their level of technology. We never see the ability of their military. It is perfectly possible for them to have mini nuke.

Just because HxH been focus on ability and Nen, we can't assume that technology is insignificant. While it is unconventional to bring in technology into a ability user battle manga, there are nothing illogical about it.

Urban Dictionary:
This can also be used to describe when, in a TV show or movie, a character comes up with a never-before-seen power just in the nick of time, therefore winning the fight. An ass pull either has a completely unbelievable explanation or the writer conveniently forgets to add one in.

This is most commonly seen in anime (esp. bleach and sailor moon) where the characters are all about to die, but then one of them (in those two, it's almost always Ichigo or Usagi) goes 'oh wait, I forgot about my superawesomeultramove that can kill all the bad guys'.

Typically this phrase is used when someone invents data or facts to support their argument. Said another way, to "pull something out of your ass".

That is similar meaning as plot hole and illogical plot twist.

I don't know why you are using Urban dictionary for something like this. Anyway, plot hole means that something contradict, something that was already established in the series, bomb didn't create that, so it's not a plot hole. Plot hole is not a synonyms for asspull. Illogical plot twist? hmm, I don't know, I don't think it was illogical, and I don't think I implied that.

I think it's an asspull, as I stated here.
