Hmmmmmmmmm. Interesting.
I guess I will watch this...the concept always seemed kind of squicky to me but I guess this is an opportunity to give it a chance.

The other posts say otherwise :/

Anyway, this....kinda came out of nowhere. I mean, to remake something like this that is mostly considered a classic by some people is kinda offputting but hey, could interesting. Wonder if it will be closer to the original novels.

And fanboys too.

But Ai no Kusabi is, for me and for many others, at a scale "beyond yaoi". A classic, for all that means. That is the only reason why I am skipping heart beats with this news. It's a remake and it's done by awesome staff. If it was just for the gratuit pornography, I would not wait for a remake of this OVA, I would just watch some random average quality yaoi and squeal.

Ai no Kusabi is such a classic, it's a little strange for them to be remaking it, and I'm cautious about it...but at the same time I can't help but feeling overjoyed. I would love for them to adapt all the volumes and the entire story. x.x

I completely agree with this. I watch/read shounen ai/yaoi for that exact reason. Also, I know a few straight men that enjoy such things for that reason too. I have a straight male friend who loves Junjou Romantica because he likes romantic comedy stuffs.

And in case anyone's wondering, I watch/read shoujo ai/yuri as well for this reason. Unfortunately it's not in as big of a demand as BL is, but there are a few good manga out there if you search hard enough. I already read het shoujo. I find beauty in all relationships.

Yes, the original is a classic. It was a very rare example of animated yaoi that had to be passed around on VHS tapes back in the day. :pets hers: XD

I got it on a Spanish gypsy (in Spain, btw), illegal DVD copy with ze fansubs. *-* It's precious.

Plus it has such a personal meaning for me... *sniff* But that's a whole new story. xD

I'd watch the series first, then the OVA later. I suspect they will develop the series much better since they have lots more time to work with the story.

Still, watching the classic to compare after seems a wiser option. Even though you don't get all the development one would want I think you'll feel much better comparing the remake with the original than the original with the remake (hope it made sense). And, because, otherwise you won't see the OVA as a superior work of art and just as an old version of a potential work of art. xD

I don't have that much respect for history, though I do respect it.
I wouldn't encourage people to watch kanon 2002 before 2006 just because it came first, though. (As an example).

But yeah, if there is lots of room for improvement of development, I think it might be better to wait.

Wow, just a few months a go we yaoi-lovers were complaining that there weren't enough (or really any) long yaoi series, and now look. Not to mention a couple of interesting OVA's coming up. But I guess that happens occasionally. Now I wish they would finish a few stuck in limbo.

Ai no Kusabi, well I saw the original and it is: I'm giving away the ending here *WARNING*

And, it shouldn't matter if there are people who hate yaoi, since there are also people who love it; no one is making me watch loli moe hentai or giant robots if I don't want to. Everyone has their own taste. They wouldn't be making it if there weren't enough people to watch it (or buy it).

This news is making me so happy ^_^. I hope they'll stay faithful to the novels, and since Yoshihara sensei is behind the script, there's a good chance of a good translation from paper to video .

Ah, to see Iason and Riki yet again *_* (not to mention, everyone else -Katze**-)
