I imagine that Kawamori-san must be a big fan of organic farming after seeing this chapter.

What on Earth was this episode going on about? I think that they're seriously contradicting themselves here. Unless they subscribe to population control (and this show certainly doesn't seem to!) intensive farming is a necessary 'evil'. Especially when you factor in that around 98% of the population refuses to give up animal products - our current production could feed around 15 billion people, yet we're only feeding around 6.7 billions (with approximately 700+ million people going hungry) and the rest is fed to livestock.

^Ye, I don't like how they tackled this. This episode was basically a preachier, visual version of the Natural Farming approach by Masanobu Fukuoka.
Is Juna going to have a heart attack/flash of nature death every time she eats...?

I like Tokio though. He's a real good guy.

this episode does present a very important message on the value of insects and natural systems that is rarely considered outside of an ecology classroom and it is increasingly imprtant for humans to understand their relationship with the the other forms of life on Earth. The key moment here is to encourage people to reconsider the common habit of killing insects unthinkingly. However, as usual, the deliverer of the message comes across as a pompous asshole. It's no wonder that capitalists are able to get people to indirectly vote for destroying the environment.

i feel that basically, this episode advocates abandoning agriculture and letting insects and weeds grow wherever, which is probably fine for a small number of hunter-gatherers. How is a planet of 7 billion+ supposed to be fed this way?

The role of pesticides in causing harm is a very big one, but efficiency in food production is a no less pressing concern unless one wants to take the untenable position of telling billions of people they should not live. "Organic" anti-farming is not the answer, and neither is industrial agriculture business as usual.

I consider myself very concerned about the environment, but this anime is so obnoxious that I pretty much hate it already. But let's keep watching and see where it goes

The only anime that can match Arjuna in obnoxious analogies is probably Galaxy Express 999 lol
