| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Chapter 41 is in the March 2013 issue of GanGan Joker on pages 185 - 217. The chapter title is "The Shadow's Memories - Part 5". So we go back to Yuuko's p.o.v. of her last hours. It's another grim chapter - in some ways even grimmer than Yukariko's memories. And now Teiichi has agreed to remember along with Yuuko... |
| Brutal but brutally good! Makes me want to read the first eight books again.... Like last month you don't need to use the index to find the Tasogare Otome chapter, just flip to the blackest pages and you're there! It only gets blacker as you read it... my quick translations done in my head, all mistakes are mine alone: Saying I am the most precious... not! The scream... Get out, have to get out of here! Someone, anyone... help... me! The tears, trying to crawl up the stairs with her mangled leg... Cold... I didn't do anything wrong, everyone said I was nice. No one hated me. There is no mistake. The mistake is everyone else's! Drinking in the hatred... Foolish people. I was killed for them... a substitute... Yukariko chose me, stabbed me in the back. Hated me? Avoided me because I became the human sacrifice. Only I could help? Why!? I did not agree..Did not agree... Did not agree. Til the last I protected... Seeing the altar, for the purpose of that...they wanted my life? Therefore.... I wish... When ... this... grudge becomes cleared up, I... I... Hateful... Hateful... Hatefully, they all killed me Hatefully, Yukariko stabbed me in the back This hate... if so, the grudge... If so can this be put out? This grudge will be Yukariko's death if no one can put it away In anger eyes and ears are blocked... by fear... my precious Yukariko My grudge can't be cleared The child will not be killed so I am the grudge staying in this world. My death was related to everyone dying from the epidemic. even if there is this sort of suffering, even if how many words of confessions of regrets over past sins are heard, there will be no meaning. The grudge in my heart will remain uncleared as long as the hate stained sinner remains uncaptured. It is difficult to continue to control this black expression. The fires of hate cannot continue to burn in my heart. The stain of hate in my heart will be burned away. Little by little the related hate stained memories will be discarded. Or did it really happen and Shadow Yuuko did not accept Yukariko's offer for a different reason? Notice that Shadow Yuuko first appears from the direction of the shrine. Is Shadow Yuuko really the old god of the temple instead of a split-off of Yuuko's spirit? Things might be more complicated than we have thought up until now. |

Sounds plausible since, if Shadow Yuuko was merely a split then why would it need to accept the bad memories? It should have them already. Now the monthly wait again. Sigh... |

| I don't think I have ever seen a death like that in a manga, both the author and artist did a great job in showing Yuuko's change and Shadow Yuuko's birth, I'm not sure how it's going to pan out after they became one again. |
| The dying Yuuko's transformation into who was to become Shadow Yuuko later on was well depicted, and conveyed her feelings of anger and desperation well. Back to the present, Yuuko has come to terms with her other self and finally, become whole again. Where this goes after this, I can only guess. |
| Yuuko merging with her shadow self was done so smoothly. I like that after that, knowing it all, she seemed more at peace than she did before. Hopefully a sign that she has accepted it and won't let it consume her even if she does say she's a product of those negative feelings. |
